2 Dead and 4 Injured

This just happened and there isn't much information about it yet. This article has the most, but the facts are still slim.

2 dead after shots fired at UNCC, Medic says, and 4 other people were injured

Two people were killed and four others are hurt after shots were fired at the UNC Charlotte campus on Tuesday afternoon, Medic confirmed.

Two of the people who were shot have life-threatening injuries, according to Medic.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police told UNCC students and families to head to 8600 University City Blvd. at the Harris Teeter supermarket to reunite with their families.

As of 7 p.m., the lockdown on the campus was continuing.

Earlier, campus officials urged everyone in a tweet to “Run, Hide, Fight. Secure yourself immediately.”

“ACTIVE ASSAILANT,” warned the university’s website.

The university first tweeted about the incident just before 6 p.m. Shots were reported near the Kennedy building on campus.

In a second tweet, at about 6:25 p.m., university officials said a campus lockdown continued. “Remain in a safe location. Monitor email and UNCC homepage,” the tweet advised.

This might be the person who did the shooting.

It seems that every day there is a mass shooting in this country. Other countries don't have to be afraid to send their kids to school or wonder if you go where lots of people are will you get shot.

Combine disturbed and angry people having easy access to guns, leaven with 24/7 TV coverage, sprinkle on Internet conspiracies and incitement, and you cook up Modern America.

Instead, the bachelor show is on.

Soon, no one with the basic urge to remain upright will venture into any public space.

No movie theaters. No concerts. No sporting events. No institutions of higher learning. No houses of worship. Nowhere that thay may actually encounter fellow humans, discover commonalities, and forge real-world connections.

Once confined to their homes, they'll seek online connections -- but soon, those all will figuratively be "shot down," too.

Coincidence?

I don't know anymore.

Not that these things are not horrific and sadly predictable now, but they suck the oxygen off of, oh I don't know, that failed coup (so far?) in VZ? War plans for Iran? My sister used to always say what is it we are NOT supposed to be paying attention to....

People are going to be leary of going places

@lizzyh7

and there are lots of things happening behind the scenes that we don't know about.

The difference with this shooting though is that it wasn't targeted towards people who go to church. I overlooked that.

It’s a class thing.

The “German Autumn” terror of the 1970s struck people at the very top. So the people at the top let their power and muscle be felt through all of German society in response.

On the other hand, if it’s just we ordinary folk who are being killed — going about our business, enjoying a concert, going to church or synagogue or mosque, etc. — the Powers That Be don’t care.

Like red-state denizens dying from opioids or vets committing suicide, we’re just more collateral damage to them.

The elites don’t feel a need to do much because it’s not meetings of the New York Fed, or the Academy Awards, or the White House Correspondents Dinner where shootings take place.

What they will do, though, is impose even further-reaching censorship and restrictions on independent information distributors and free speech.

@lotlizard That's what I wonder every time something like this happens. Their security can't be so invincible that someone willing to go the distance, do the research, and make the sacrifices couldn't find a way through it.

Why kill random and presumably-innocent people??? You should know you're ending your own life when you resort to this - why not take someone with you who DESERVES IT? Be John Brown, make your self-destruction MEAN SOMETHING!
