Democrats have gone completely batshit crazy

Last week I pointed out how Democrats are now lovin' them some Dubya. I thought that was weird enough, but it turns out that it just keeps getting more strange the further we go down the rabbit hole.

alice.PNG

Who do Democrats love like they love George Dubya Bush?
John McCain.
That's right. John "I've never met a war I didn't like" F*ckin McCain.

Most Democrats, on the other hand, like what McCain has to say.
Sixty-eight percent (68%) of Likely Republican Voters think their party should be more like Trump than like McCain....
Among Democrats, however, those numbers are reversed: 68% think the Republican Party should be more like McCain, while only 22% believe it should be more like Trump instead.

If that wasn't strange enough for you, you should nibble on the other side of the mushroom, where the CIA hangs out.

In the wake of Trump's unvarnished skepticism about the CIA's assessment that Russia did act to influence the outcome of the election in his favor, a December NBC/WSJ poll showed that 29 percent of Republicans view the CIA positively, compared to 24 percent who view it negatively (Net favorability of +4 percent.) But for Democrats, it was 46 percent positive, 14 percent negative (Net favorability of +32 percent).
Among voters who supported Trump and campaign foe Hillary Clinton, the difference was even more stark, with Clinton voters registering a net +39 percent favorability for the agency, while Trump voters gave it a net rating of just +2 percent....
Democratic suspicion of the CIA persisted into the run-up to the Iraq War and particularly its aftermath, when Republicans gave the agency relatively high marks even as Democrats railed against its harsh interrogation practices, domestic wiretapping and intelligence failures.

What's a little torture, domestic spying on peaceful dissent, and assassinations of foreign political and labor union leaders and human rights activists when we have to Stop Trump!
All cherished values must be sacrificed in this emergency.

The Dems double down on Trump=Putin=Trump... Thanks CIA!

And a 'resistance movement' that involves hats, placards and an expensive bronze.

An actual resistance movement would be those risking their lives against a vicious, occupying, authoritarian power (see France, c., 1940-44).

He might be repulsive, but Trump isn't 'occupying' the US.

Dems are as guilty as Trump for a complete inability to be self-aware.
The idea that not all the faults are in the stars they could never comprehend.

2018 is not looking good.

Other Man: Hillary Says they're good guys!

Man: And she's completely RIGHT!

Other Man: Wait, no I read that wrong, she says they're out to get her.

Man: Absolutely, You can't trust a word they say.

Other Man: And she said they need to have virgins sacrificed to them.

Man: Ok, well, you have to know she's operating on Intelligence we can't see.

Other Man: They're Russian Virgins.

Man: Clearly they voted for Trump.

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.

Modern education is little more than toeing the line for the capitalist pigs.

Guerrilla Liberalism won't liberate the US or the world from the iron fist of capital.

Cassiodorus's picture

@The Aspie Corner When he ran against Dubya in 2004 there was no ideological humanism separating him and Dubya -- Kerry was basically the smarter Dubya, except of course at the end when Dubya had the election rigged through his buddies in Ohio and Kerry conceded without any sort of fight. Oh and of course before said outcome everyone down to the Green Party supported Kerry. Michael Moore proclaimed that he was the "#1 liberal in the Senate."

I suppose I should be grateful that people are just now expressing their disappointment in the Democratic Party, instead of just wondering why they weren't disappointed back in '04.

The ruling classes need an extra party to make the rest of us feel as if we participate in democracy. That's what the Democrats are for. They make the US more durable than the Soviet Union was.

@Cassiodorus I remember ketchup. I have been sick and tired of right wing millionaire leaders and their spouses my whole life, practically. Hah! Remember when Reagan declared catsup a vegetable?

In 1990, she met Senator Kerry at an Earth Day rally. This was the only reported time they met before Senator Heinz died in a plane crash on April 4, 1991. In 1992, they met again, at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She was a member of a State Department delegation appointed by then-President George H. W. Bush. Their courtship began in 1993, and they were married May 26, 1995, in Nantucket, Massachusetts. Choosing to remain registered as a Republican until John Kerry's presidential bid in 2004,

because of course!

she kept her name Teresa Heinz. In May 2004, she said:

"My legal name is still Teresa Heinz. Teresa Heinz Kerry is my name... for politics. Just so people don't ask me questions about so and so is so and so's wife or this and that. Teresa Heinz is what I've been all my growing-up life, adult life, more than any other name. And it's the name of my boys, you know ?... So, that's my legal name and that's my office name, my Pittsburgh name."

Is that when the phrase "Democrat In Name Only" came about? I don't know but it fit her just fine, and thereby hubby, who obviously "married up" being a proper power-hungry feminist and all.

I also remember Ohio, the bummer that was. Fuck Bloody Obama for promising, and then not fixing shit, setting us up for what is now. What a Dick.

wealthy on his own. He is John Forbes Kerry, of the Forbes fortune, and although certainly he became more wealthy because of his marriage to Heinz, he was already there.

@Linda Wood That's correct. She was wealthier than he was when they married; he subsequently came into (more of) his inheritance.

The idea that he was riding on his wife's wealth was a right-wing (and sexist) talking point used against him over many years.

@eyo @eyo I don't care whether Heinz keeps her name or not. But then, I like Heinz pretty well.I liked John Heinz pretty well too, for a one-percenter. I've always assumed that's why he died in a small plane accident--because he was a powerful Republican with a moral compass. Might have made it harder to take the Republican party where the MIC and Wall St needed it to go.

But that portion of the aristocracy, which includes Teresa Heinz, Robert Kennedy Jr, and a few others, is completely ineffective against the Cheneys and Petersons of the world. This speech is the swan song of that part of the aristocracy:

Kennedy in this speech is an aristocrat speaking to aristocrats. Being who he is, he frames the debate as primarily a partisan issue. But it's really a debate among the rich and powerful, some of whom want to be predators, want to be a blight on the world. They want to lay waste to everything that isn't them to increase their profit without limit. Some of the .01% understand that that is crazy (because it is, even for an evil bastard billionaire). But that portion of the aristocracy that disagrees has no power to restrain their insane peers. Apparently there's more lunatics among the aristocracy than not.

What is it about working men and women that you find so objectionable?
When does the greed stop?

and the "apparently" is a "certainty" I think.

This (the 1 percent are evil) is analogous to the problem of bad cops.

While I have no problem with those, like Bernie, trying to frame our situation as the 99 percent versus the 1 percent, I do have a problem with those that lack the ability to see individuals as individuals. As I have stated elsewhere, I am a "Splitter" not a "Lumper".

I have watched as the situation has worsened continuously and very nearly monotonically for many decades. I have yet to see anyone suggest anything to suggest I should become an optimist as I continue to approach the ultimate end.

@Cassiodorus I was under the impression that the Democratic Party actually represented the many millions of people who were outraged by Bush's invasion of Iraq. I was quite wrong about who and what the D party actually represented, and so were millions of other people. The latter half of 2016 was a wake up call for many of us -- an unwelcome revelation of sorts.

In the time between 2004 and now, the D party has become less and less attractive as an alternative to the R party -- for a variety of reasons. And for anyone who strongly opposes America's policy of never-ending warfare, one is equally as bad as the other. The System offers us a choice: We can vote for a D and get war, or we can vote for an R and get more war.

Or, I guess we can try to start something new from scratch... with all the odds stacked against us and with both of the behemoths opposing us. Slim odds for success down that road, but maybe better than no chance at all.

Cant Stop the Macedonian Signal's picture

@native Certainly better than serving one of the behemoths.

Really the choice is to invent something new or give up, in which case there's no point in talking politics, voting, elections, mass movements, marching in the streets--or this website.

Actions short of revolutionary won't have any impact. The establishment knows that, which is why they've recently co-opted the words "revolution" and "resistance."

Of course, Nazis saw Arabs as Semites. So, had Hitler succeeded, chances are that Arabs would have been the next group destined for genocide.
