Hillary on tape about Bernie supporters Edit: NOW WITH SOUND FILE
White noise machines are so useful when you don't want the public to hear what you really think of them... I guess this isn't quite a 47% moment, but it's not pretty:
From POLITICO
Clinton gives her take on Sanders supporters in leaked fundraising recording
Leaked audio of a conversation between Hillary Clinton and donors during a February fundraising event shows the Democrat nominee describing Bernie Sanders supporters as "children of the Great Recession" who are "living in their parents’ basement." Speaking at a Virginia fundraiser hosted by former U.S. ambassador Beatrice Welters, Clinton says in a clip released by the Free Beacon Friday that many of her former primary opponent's supporters sought things like “free college, free healthcare,” saying that she preferred to occupy the space "from the center-left to the center-right" on the political spectrum.
Here's more:
"There is a strain of, on the one hand, the kind of populist, nationalist, xenophobic, discriminatory kind of approach that we hear too much of from the Republican candidates," she said. "And on the other side, there’s just a deep desire to believe that we can have free college, free healthcare, that what we’ve done hasn’t gone far enough, and that we just need to, you know, go as far as, you know, Scandinavia, whatever that means, and half the people don’t know what that means, but it’s something that they deeply feel."
But really, like Bill, she feels our pain:
Clinton added: "If you’re feeling like you’re consigned to, you know, being a barista, or you know, some other job that doesn’t pay a lot, and doesn’t have some other ladder of opportunity attached to it, then the idea that maybe, just maybe, you could be part of a political revolution is pretty appealing. "I think we all should be really understanding of that," Clinton said.
Oh, well, I guess she really gets us then (um, I'm not even slightly in the demographic she's dissing, and yet she's smearing me, too...).
This was a writeup of the original event:

This is the recent post with the sound file:

Here's the sound file:
What's this "FINALLY, we're talking about issues"?! Bernie was ALWAYS talking about issues...
And yet another coughing fit.
Wow - she goes on and on and on about Flynt. Can't say I've heard her say anything about Flynt since Michigan voted last spring.
About 60% through the tape she says she never understood what Sanders means by 'revolution.' There's a shocker.

Bubba did not only sign RW bills, he lobbied Democrats hard for
them. He WANTED them to pass, but he also wanted to be able claim a veto proof majority later. So, instead of lobbying Democratic Senators for a filibuster, which would have kept that detritus from becoming law, he lobbied them for a yes vote.
Please add to your list Gramm, Leach Blilely and ending "welfare as we know it, which both contributed to the Depression of 2008. (IMO, it's time we stopped pretending we don't grok what the euphemistic term, "the worst economic situation since the Great Depression," actually means.)

The Bush-initiated TPP
The Bush-initiated TPP Hillary promoted around the world and which Obama is attempting to shove through Congress - with Fast-tracked other corporate coups to follow - will eliminate/enforce everything the corporate Republicans wanted on behalf of their paymasters - but offshored corporate domestic law is out of everyone else's hands and powers.
The social contract - as with humanity in both senses of the term, life on the planet, the concept of law in the public interest and democracy, together with sanity and survival sense - is being privatized for maximized anticipated future corporate/billionaire profiteering with no restrictions allowed, except on the people whose countries have been betrayed by their own public servants to them.
Why is the deciding vote so important, prior to the TPP challenges, in the Supreme Court that Obama put forth a corporate-friendly Republican for and for which Hillary offers one of her creatures?
What uncorrupted and sane court of law would accept a private agreement between two groups that unwitting 3rd parties could be industrially and otherwise poisoned for temporarily increased corporate/billionaire profits with no recourse? Sued into bankruptcy for any attempt to defend themselves, their inalienable citizen and human rights, their own, their animals and environmental health and life, their public properties and services, their domestic law and democracy? That their Constitutions and laws protecting against such traitorous acts could somehow be 'scrapped' by the signature of a transient public official empowered only to make trade deals not impinging upon the public or country which the office of such officials exists to serve?
These agreements are not 'legal and binding', as has been claimed, upon the intended victims of these massive and fatal frauds.
There is no more reality to this claim of 'legality' than there has been to the results of many US election results, such as the recent Dem primary - yet these traitors filling government and their paymasters will not allow political or other peaceful revolution to occur while the fraudulent corporate coup is jammed into place to be enforced against us all next month or earlier?

I'm officially a senior citizen, so I'm being smeared as well. I chuckled when Hillary said: "we just need to, you know, go as far as, you know, Scandinavia, whatever that means, and half the people don’t know what that means...". Bernie supporters know exactly what that means and Hillary does too. She is clueless to the problems of the average American and it shows time and time again.
Her sense of entitlement
is something she cannot hide. It exudes from her every pore. She really looks down upon and disdains the vast majority of people. It is a reflection of her belief in meritocracy. Once people understand the myth of meritocracy, it is difficult to accept someone like Hillary Clinton being for us.

merit
Merit.
I wonder...merit as in $$Hillary failed the D.C. bar exam and hid the fact for decades?
And that post-failure, she scurried off to Arkansas to ride Bill's coattails?
$$Hillary has risen far above the level of her own failure, because $$$ papers-over even the biggest flaws, as we're seeing with the Duh-nald.
I read that
$Hillary had rejected Bill's proposal several times until then. Guess she was hoping for a better candidate then realized this was as good as she could get. I tend to believe this because it explains a lot.

Meritocracy. Pfft.
I prefer "snob"
The only meritocracy of which Hillary is a part?
The "be born to parents who have enough money to put you through Wellesley and Yale, then meet and marry someone for whom Senator Fulbright can't seem to do enough" meritocracy.
Very important point
It took me a little while to get the point of Frank's book, which wasn't about what I expected it to be about. But "meritocracy" is an important concept. I began to understand it as a modern-day secular form of Calvinism, wherein material success is evidence of moral superiority, a badge admitting one to the ranks of the Elect. Such a belief system is invented to justify the comforts of the comfortable class to themselves, and gives cover to the deep immorality of their failing to share or to help others.
Hillary is a high priestess of this Neo-Calvinism, following her destiny to rise above us all. It is perhaps an even more toxic basis for a political administration than Trump's hate filled nativist populism, particularly because of the wide base of adherents it has in the ruling classes. Of such things is a permanent aristocracy made.

Right.
You have done a nice job of equating Meritocracy with Calvinism. Both are snake oil pitches. Someone has to suffer for our corporate masters to feel not only adequate but superior.
-Greed is not a virtue.
-Socialism: the radical idea of sharing.
-Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.
John F. Kennedy, In a speech at the White House, 1962
Exactly!
Although I did not write that in my essay on meritocracy, that is exactly what it is. This is also why these people lack empathy. Thank you for summarizing it so well DD!
I have been writing about neo-liberalism regularly here and I keep coming back to this Calvinistic idea of meritocracy which underpins everything they do. It also absolves them of any guilt when lesser people suffer as a result. In a way, it is a steroidal continuation of American exceptionalism and the so called American dream. The people of this country have bought it for years, but the myth of meritocracy is starting to crumble. Unfortunately, it is not crumbling fast enough.

It's also a convenient way to justify sending the prol's kids
to serve as cannon fodder while their special little snowflakes (who are, of course, meant for 'better' things) sit on their butts safe and sound and half world away from the dying.
NONE of the West O. kids that I knew during Vietnam ever ended up in the military. They all had college (or some other) deferments. My ex, brother, and others of 'our' class were either drafted or enlisted so as to try to not end up in a rice paddy somewhere. My ex and my brother are still here because they didn't end up in 'Nam. My ex processed military personnel in Anchorage, AK at Ft. Richardson and John went to Diyarbakir, Turkey. They were lucky. Two people I knew came home in body bags. It was a crapshoot for the prols, the game was rigged for our 'betters'.
But I did read all about the time Shills tried to join the Marines. /s

I started trying to find some
I started trying to find some of the many articles I'd previously read on Dominionism among (predominately Republican) Washington politicians which focused on Hillary's membership in The Family, which had included some on TOP, (which I hadn't expected to have retained these) the one I checked there now referring to Calvinism, rather than Dominionism, (which promotes the belief that those more powerful have the right to do as they please to those less so,) as does this Mother Jones article and anything else I could find. But considering what's been done to internet searching and various things which the once-progressive or corporate media printed that the Clintons/their funders/TPTB didn't like, this was hardly surprising.
This says nothing about any later editing; does anyone else recall reading an article very similar to this some years back, but with references to Dominionism?
If you possibly can on whatever device you're using, though, please read this in full at source.

There is a "tell" in her phrasing.
She says that they (us) want free college and free health care. That phrase is used in order to make it sound like a handout, a gift, something given that is unearned. If she was not a fucking tool of the 1%, she would have said "universal healthcare funded by your tax dollars" not free healthcare. Using the word "free" is designed to make it sound like the recipient is a moocher, even though it's being paid for by the "moocher".
Oh, she knows damn well what she's doing. If she is elected POTUS, it will be a glorious day for the 1%. As my buddy George says it'll be that old carnival sideshow game for the rich, it's an old gallery game called "Shoot 'Til You Win".

she is a big, arrogant, mean (redacted) to say something like
it. she plays with the fact that Americans don't know what millions of people in Europe know so well that they don't even think about it. Apparently she has no clue about many things considering how European countries work. No wonder her foreign policy approaches are DOA. Who the hell does Clinton, Obama, Kerry think they are? The can't treat their own people with dignity and proper social services, but they run around big mouthed talking smoothly about "how understanding they are" with the poor and underprivileged people of the world. It's childish to think you can have free college education, public health care for all etc. Yeah, if you are a frigging coward to fight for those things, you can't have hem. That's right.
The lady is smart enought when it comes to expressing herself empathetically, while being political, but dumb enought to not recognize that people are apparently a little bit smarter than she believes they are.

Why would we want

Besides, much like a billion is not really a billion anymore due to inflation, the value of human life has also declined, due to overpopulation, which contributes to global warming. If we are willing for the deaths of young, healthy Americans in wars, why worry about the elderly and disabled who no longer pay taxes? /sarcasm as to the pretended callousness on my part, but not as to the contempt in U.S. politics for human life, esp. Why the hell do you think that children of the Great Recession might be living in their parent's basement?
Could it be because they are straddled with tens of thousands of dollars in student loans and they can't find a decent job that pays more than minimum wage?
Or that they went to one of the colleges like the one your husband sat on the board for and got paid $1.6 million only to see that they walked away from it after being charged with government fraud? And since Duncan let them off with a fine but they didn't have to admit to any wrongdoing, the students are still on the hook for their loans that they were told they would get relief from?
My gawd, is Hillary out of touch or what?
This needs to go viral. It's her 47% moment.
And by the way Hillary, both you and Bill are responsible for the shitty job market because of nafta, cafta and the other bills that saw thousands of jobs being offshored. You can't be this stupid, can you? Apparently you can!
And the TPP that you helped work on is going to be the final nail for the middle class jobs.
Speaking of the TPP, here's Kerry trying to scare people into getting behind the TPP because he says that if it isn't passed then our national security will be put at risk.

Oh and for the record, none of my comments mean that 'I hate her'
--
Living in your parents' basement is not only an insult, but
a cliché insult, it's been used so often. Notice, it's possible to say "forced to live in their parents' homes" without using the classic language used to insult someone the speaker or writer (or poster) sees as a loser. Also, she, her husband and her media minions sure did a ton of mocking and insulting of Bernie's supporters during the 2016 primary and of Obama's supporters during the 2008 primary. So, in all, concluding she was mocking Bernie's supporters with a worn out put down is definitely not a bridge too far.
Can we give her props for not using "covered in Cheeto dust"?

but even her words work against her. There is a poll on MSNBC, freep-able or not, that says she will not be lucky with the Hillary Way. You can vote in that unscientific poll.
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
As of 7 am central,
Over 300k votes. 84% won't vote for her. Ctr isn't doing a very good job freeping it.
I was one
of those 84%, and proud of it!
"The “jumpers” reminded us that one day we will all face only one choice and that is how we will die, not how we will live." Chris Hedges on 9/11
I also was one.
But not two. I wasn't able to vote again.

Moi, aussi, and not freep-able!
Houston, we have a problem. In other polls Stein is over 60%.

Wait! Didn't BHO say you have two votes? Take another turn
I got my 7 votes counted...
Used FireFox regular and private browsers, Chrome regular and private, Opera regular and private, and Safari would only load the poll in regular...
I'm sure that using the private browser of FireFox, Chrome, or Opera then quitting it and restarting would allow multiple votes but the allotted time wasting for $hillary issues had already been consumed...
I've already resigned myself that there probably will be another Clinton presidency unless she drops dead during a public appearance and they can't cover it up somehow and run her dead carcass...
We'll just have to have a good exterminator get the vermin out of the White House after the revolution...

If you’re feeling like
you’re consigned to, you know, being a barista, or you know, some other job that doesn’t pay a lot, and doesn’t have some other ladder of opportunity attached to it, then why don't you just shut the fuck up and have some cake?
(baristas get free coffee after all, you whining fuck.)
GIANT ALL-CAPS SIG
Just go find a better job!
(*barf*)
This shit is bananas.
At least she made no reference to Cheetos
but that would require her to have enough online time with TGU to get that "joke". She got the barista part as a high-paying job...

What do you mean, you can't commute to Malaysia?
Nobody expects free anything, we pay taxes throughout
our lifetime. Everyone expects to pay only the horribly wealthy could term it "free" anything, unless of course they avoid paying taxes whilst the rest of us cant afford dodgy accountants.
I thought she was smart
But she doesn't understand how the social democracies of Scandinavia work?
You know, less war, more help for all........ via equitable taxation.
Gëzuar!!
from a reasonably stable genius.
In the debate she said she travelled to
128? Countries as Sec. Of State. Guess she didn't learn a GD thing from her visits to Scandanavia & Western Europe.
Comment of the day Leu n/t
Of course she understands. She's grifting. It's what she does.
Was this BEFORE she morphed into Hillary Sanders?
Basement Dwellers need to wake up and realize we can't afford everything.
1) either we Carpet Bomb the world to spread "democracy Merican style".
2) or we can spend taxpayer money on a Scandinavian social safety net.
What's it gonna be Basement Dwellers? Just kiddin, it's Carpet Bombing. It will always be Carpet Bombing.

Hernie Sanders.
Not only because IT'S HER TURN DAMMIT, but because every time I see her I worry about throwing up so violently that I end up with a hernia.
