I looked up at the socialist moon
Submitted by Galtisalie on Sun, 06/19/2016 - 10:05pm
across the socialist sky
with my socialist legs planted firmly on
the socialist right-of-way
late on a Sunday night in Red Level, Alabama,
in front of a Dollar General with lights so bright
something is wrong with this picture other than the fact
that I can't get the orientation fixed.
Human lights, even from the holy of small town
merchandizing holies, should not drown out that lovely free
moon, reflecting our socialist sun and shining brighter to my socialist eyes than any silver dollar.

I thought that the Socialist Moon.....
...... was what resulted when I got up, and my trousers didn't! (A surprisingly common occurrence, as I have a belly but almost no butt!)
Nevertheless, a lovely thought, G! Sometimes the neon glare tempts me to treat the perpetrators to my style of Socialist Moon!

I know this is a family website,
but you owe us a moon shot (in front of a Dollar General).
speaking of
moon shots, and how this is not a family website, Cheri Honkala, head of the Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign, she is organizing a mass fart-in to occur during The Mad Bomber's anticipated acceptance speech at the Democratic version of a convention.
Chris Hedges, he will bless the proceedings, with a prayer.
Simply brilliant.
I wish I could go. The older I get....

Wow, what a gas!
Ah, methane and good ol' methyl indole! Indeed, the appropriate response to a HRC speech!
I hope somebody mentioned that this needs to be a no smoking event....

Whoopee Cushions
Please, tell me they're bringing whoopee cushions for the Hillary delegates' chairs.

yes,
I meant to say that myself. I really like the poem, Galtisalie.
LOL!
Thank you for sharing this, Hecate

I fear I must disappoint you here.
Posting such a picture as you propose on c99p would, I do fear, draw the wrath of one Johnny Conqueroo upon us. And he, and you, and c99p don't deserve that!
Now, if we could be certain both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump would have to look at it, I'd send 'em a full frontal nude shot of myself. This would cause both of them to promptly turn to stone, which would be very beneficial for humankind. It would cost me one each camera, however!
And, of course, I live in Colorado. We have more pleasant and peaceable ways of getting stoned here anyway!
(luv ya, G!)

No it wouldn't, do it...
we can draw mustaches on it and make a smiley of it.
You are too kind, sir!
You've obviously never seen me sans raiment.

When my daughter was wee, I informed her that Butte County was named for Captain William T. Buttocks, the first white man to travel through the territory. She went to school and shared this with her classmates in "show and tell." I got in trouble.
As one Socialist to another...
I say, there ought to be a law.
And an edit to add: thanks for the poem Galtisalie. I'll go see if the moon is visible in it's honor.
That socialist moon is full and now shifting
into the western sky. It illuminates my bedroom so woke socialist me up. No Dollar General within 7 miles, and I think one or more of the variously named Something Dollar Something went belly-up, saying something about our non-socialist economy. At least in Dryden, NY.

Red Level Alabama
You and I are about 30 miles apart. It is great to know a kindred spirit is close.
Sure is! (Alas, I was just on my way home to
Nowheresville, about 70 miles away, passing through Red Level and couldn't help but stop and snap and post!) Peace be with you.
I just looked up Red Level
Small town, small county. Good real estate prices for large acreage. Too hot for me, and I am one who hates AC. My daughter was at one of the bad kids camps up in the NE area of AL. I found the landscape lovely, weird beliefs, too hot in summer, interesting in the winter, weird beliefs. I could live there in dire straits. But not go to Dollar General. Maybe.

When traveling through
this part of the country it is interesting to see how many abandoned homes there are. Makes me wonder about the homes' stories and why they stand empty. Poverty, job seeking, economy, family issues, grandma and grandpa have died and no one wants the old kudzu covered homestead. I think it is sad. And yes it is a land of some weird ideas. I live in Alabama and I do not claim to be an Alabamian. We have a beautiful property that is quiet and secluded and the weather does have its issues. I worry more about the twisters and hurricanes. For now it is home.
Yes, there is a general sadness or loss there.
And I also saw some of the relic homes in the northern part of the state. Not just in AL, tho.

Thank you for your humane work
and presence. Reminds me of the beautiful movie "Return to Bountiful." Each of those homesteads has a rich history, however sad and forgotten. I love the Deep South, which is to me a gorgeous place for all its pain.
