Has this community gotten large enough where
it isn't a distraction from "our mission" if one asks for help for non-political items/issues/life happenin's?
I never had cause to utilize it, but I always thought it was pretty cool how TOP became a resource for non-political assistance. If we/the site is really trying to stay focused on politics, no prob whatsoever. Totally understand & I'll delete.
If its OK to ask, I could really use some illustrated work & coloring book self-publishing assistance as well as some image conversion/clean-up advice. If anyone has done those things via CreateSpace (or can turn me on to a similar platform), I'd appreciate the assistance.
Thanks for your time,
mike
ps - I'm sorta kinda a little sometimes occasionally having to attend to my day-job, so my response times in the comments for the next... 9hrs 4min might be less than prompt

This community has room to help others
..so if someone has those skills they may respond.
If no one here is able to help with your questions,
you might try some of the bigger graphics sites as there are many people who market their work or ask and get advice in those forums. From what it sounds like, the Adobe forums might be able to help (even if you do not use Adobe products).
One source that may seem a bit unrelated at first would be the forums for 3D markets such as DAZ3d and Renderosity. I have always found those communities to be helpful and understanding as many of them are involved in creating and marketing a wide range of products.

Talked Down
TOP and managed to talk down someone on the verge of suicide yesterday. As angry as we become at their politics it is moments like that which wrests DK from Kos and his goons and it becomes again the real people. Thank you ericlewise0.

Welcome Epiphanasley!
You are in the right place, Friend.
No doubt we look as if we could be a partisan group because there are so many like minds here. I have to take some ownership of that. There is craziness happening every day and I feel responsible to know what's happening. I guess I'm the news source for my children and grandchildren who are too busy trying to keep their heads above water to do much of anything besides work and sleep. It is imperative that I know what I'm talking about. I fill them in every day, in as simple terms as possible because they are busy and oh so very tired. I am led to information here, all smooshed together at C99% that lead me to the truth, one way or another. (I must confess, I love me some bunny trails) All this while still being true to ourselves. I used CreateSpace for 3 books
These were printed something over 5 years ago, and I'm sure their technology has changed, but I was able to work within their instructions and use technology they offered at the time, and I am definitely not an expert in, or even interested in, computer graphics. The front and back covers I made, two of them using CreateSpace's options, and one using my own illustrations in colored pencil, printed exactly as I planned them. If you want to see how the illustrated cover turned out, look on Amazon for Squirrel Girl by Barbara Marquardt. (It's a story for older children about a squirrel in early colonial days who tries to organize the forest animals to attempt to stop the destruction of the forest.)
There were several things I didn't, and still don't, like about working through CreateSpace and Amazon. One is that the margins printed much smaller than I had expected, something I probably could have fixed had I been willing to spend more time revising. The other things relate to their sales, and many people might disagree with me, as working with them certainly offers more opportunities than endlessly trying to interest agents or publishers and inevitably getting rejected. This has been my problem: If you want people to know your book exists, you really have to buy into their publicity options. I have had very few sales, although on sites where my books can be read free (Scribd and Free-eBooks) I have had many readers. As I am 76 and past the age where I want to work on publicizing myself, and have little money to do so anyway, I personally am satisfied that I have had those readers. However, if you contract with Amazon for publicity, you are not allowed to offer your books on other sites.
All this information is, I'm sure, on the CreateSpace website, updated from what I know. If you have questions I might be able to answer, I will be happy to do so, if you send me a message. I try to limit my online time, so I can do more active things, and I usually just read and move on, so if you respond here, I probably won't see it. Good luck to you!
Barbara Marquardt
CreateSpace is what I'm using now.
(trying to, anyway)
It doesn't seem as user-friendly to illustrated work. I tried using the cover creator and it kept tellin me my 600dpi PDF's were 177.
