Big Walter Horton

Album of the Week 1-6-24

Afternoon folks!

This week, we've got some great Chicago blues from a compilation album that features mandolinist Johnny Young, guitarist Johnny Shines and harmonica player Big Walter Horton. Following that there's some late 60's blues from Aretha Franklin. Moving on to the blues-rock category, there's a John Mayall double album on which he's joined by Eric Clapton, Mick Taylor and Harvey Mandel. Then there's The Pretty Things self-titled first 1965 album and a Lee Michaels album. After that is a Japanese bootleg of a Bob Marley concert in London (originally broadcast on the BBC) and we finish up with a studio album from Dr. John.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Album of the Week - 12-3-22

Afternoon folks!

There's a pile of blues for you guys this week. Chicago guitarist Son Seals has a live album, harmonica player Big Walter Horton has a studio album, there's an Otis Redding album in glorious original mono and New Orleans singer Johnny Adams weighs in with an album of Percy Mayfield tunes. Guitarist David Lindley has an album of cool blues-rock and reggae inflected tunes, Captain Beefheart's album delivers the weirdness and we finish up with Buffalo Springfield's (Neil Young, Steven Stills and Richie Furay) debut album (also in glorious mono).

I will be adding additional cuts to the Big Walter Horton album and Otis Redding's album on Saturday night sometime.

Have a great weekend and enjoy!

Album of the Week 7-2-22

Afternoon folks!

There's a bunch of cool stuff, or stuff to cool off by here to listen to. There's some of Chicago harmonica player Big Walter Horton and some Hank Crawford. There's a bunch of blues rock with Canned Heat, a live album from The Animals and The Pirates. I've uploaded part of an album by Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, which I'll upload the rest of later tonight.

Enjoy and have a great holiday!
