Not sure how to conduct a poll for this new site. But I want to throw out the question "What do we call ourselves?" Hate the idea of being called former kossacks, what about the 99ers? Please think about it and provide suggestions.
Remember it must be something we are proud or and can build upon. I am not a marketing person, more of builder so that is why I put that question out there.
What I meant was that no one could ever confuse a big tough Minnesota heavy equipment operator who will probably vote for Trump with a member of this blog.
Of course, I have been both, except that I was a small and tough MN heavy equipment operator (one of the first women ever to a member of Local 49), and I will NEVER vote for Trump...nor Hillary for that matter.

We can call ourselves whatever we damn well please. Hell, we could call ourselves Democrats, even though my return to the donkeys is still only two months old. Our problem has neither to do with name nor identity. The problem lies with people who have co-opted the words liberals and Democrat to redefine them as merely "not Republican." It sickens me to think what the Clintons have accomplished in what used to be my party. Move to the fucking center, allow the GOP to move to the absolute end of the right side of the spectrum, and then move just one arm's length to the left of the GOP, all the while continuing to call themselves Democrats and liberals, all the while failing to understand that liberalism moves constantly more leftward. You can't adopt leftwing principles like pro gay marriage and rationalize yourself as a liberal. And yet this is what the older folk voting for Clinton are doing. "Look at me, I'm not as crazy as Ted Cruz so I'm still a liberal."
I'm a g.d. liberal. I favor strong regulations on business practices and capital. I favor social justice as an absolute, not as a convenience. I believe all personal, private rights are personal, private rights and the government must not allow itself or commercial interests to trample on them. I view success by looking at the worst outcomes of our operations and working to repair them, rather than resting on the successes of the outliers at the top. Clinotonites do not truly regard these things as important since they are extra steps away from just saying they are somewhat pro choice, somewhat supportive of entitlements, somewhat supportive of poverty programs and fair wages, somewhat supportive of energy and environment programs that are clean, etc.
They still can't define what they are without the existence of the GOP. Weak tea. What I want to see desperately is for O'Malley or Warren or some other actual liberal to spend the next four flipping years railing against whichever disastrous human the American people put into the White House. Let's be ready to end the Clintons once and for all in 2020. If there is ever a time for a clear vision, 2020 must be it.
and 99'ers when addressing my fellow 99%'ers. This is not a partisan site it is liberal and progressive (whatever that means these days). Many of us are not Democrat's many are not. Some of are totally against the Democratic party. I will not belong to or participate to any site that aligns itself with the Democratic party. I am a political junkie but no longer a Democratic party supporter. Last time I voted in 2012 I voted for Jill Stein and every damn socialist down ticket. I did vote for Merkely last time he ran as he is at least a responsive representative. Strangely he was here in the Oregon state government a 'moderate' so I was surprised at how progressive he has been. I have trouble with the modern version of the term 'progressive'. It seems to have been adopted during the Bushies days when liberal (in the American sense) was a dirty word. I mean even HRC called herself progressive when she saw which way the wind was blowing.
I'm not a purist, I'm democratic. I don't see any point in playing the Democratic game. O'Malley and Warren are part and parcel of the Dem. machine. I'm writing in Bernie regardless of this farce but at this point I refuse to vote for support the lesser evil party that refuses to really fight for the 99% or even our flawed imperfect system of the rule of law, checks and balances of power or universal inalienable rights, equality or democracy. I like caucus99percent and see no reason this name or the nick names we use need to be changed. If it does get a new name I do not want it aligned with blue- red or D's and R's. It is a good place as we can write and discuss the world as we find it and try to make it better. It's fun not to have to deal within the confines of the farce of partisanship. No self censoring and not having to use the terms of engagement that were told are reality. It's why I'm here.
Think about Federal Express now FedEx, Coke Cola (Coke), just a few examples of many that by using a term or phrase to help define/market themselves.
Just thinking of a quick catchy name to help us to sell our vision- people that care and value what is right and just.
I do not mean to undermine or take away from what we stand for, but you need a logo, name and catch phrase to help generate and create buzz- just my 2 cents. Caucus99percent does not also roll off the tongue. I do like being a 99er
is creating decides to do with itself, whether or not he's the nominee. Whether it tries to find a home in the Democratic Party or structures itself as something else--Democratic Socialist Party, New Progressive Party, whatever. Because that's how I now define myself as a voter (insofar as I bother with the label thing): too far left to see much of what matters to me in the Democratic Party that now exists but supporting Sanders' platform.

First past the post elections as we have now favor two dominant parties. You could start with 5 or 6 parties but it would eventually get whittled down to two. Party A knows they have no chance of getting anyone elected, but party C does, and party A members agree with party C more than the do with party E. This is what creates the broad spectrums seen within the ideologies of democratic and republican voters. Dumping FPTP all together and adopting something like mixed member proportional would give voices to a lot more people.

Gold is the wealth of kings; silver is the wealth of commoners; barter is the wealth of peasants; and debt is the wealth of slaves.
If Bernie loses any momentum during the caucuses after 16 Mar, that will be unfortunate as I'll be left with a
choice between two war-candidates -- Hillary or Trump. Hillary voted for the Iraq war and tipped the scale in favor
of the war against Libya. On Trump's side, although he has no political track record for wars yet, nonetheless in his campaigns it's obvious he wants a civil war, first against the segments of the American population who disagree with him at his rallies, and then once elected, I assume he'll move onto more lucrative investments once he realizes he can, as President, diversify out of real estate and into military-industrial profits.
Obviously I won't vote for any candidate who has war on their permanent agenda.

I think we're the 99% or 99
I think we're the 99% or 99%ers.
That is good
Remember it must be something we are proud or and can build upon. I am not a marketing person, more of builder so that is why I put that question out there.
I use 99ers, easy to say and gets the point across
I have another reason to like it in that I used to be a 49er and 99er sounds similar.

99ers is cool
I like that one as well, but it does sound close to 49ers, just want to avoid confusion. But it is easy to say.
Really doubt that anyone would confuse a 49er with a 99er.

Great question. I say, c99, because it's simple.

Us. or "all of us"
as in "not me, us". B/c that's the truth. It's about us. all of us.
Don't believe everything you think.
Any reason you can't use the full name --
'caucus99percenters?
BTW, has anybody written a piece about how the name was arrived at, and what is intended to convery?
We can use the full name, of course, but always nice to have
a nickname for the site. I use C99 because its simply and easy to say. I use 99ers as a nickname for the members.

also, I see no need to adopt an official nickname

The Working Families Party is a good model
They align or don't with candidates who meet their standards, which are pretty similar to ours.
why have to pick between 2 'war candidates'/
If Bernie loses any momentum during the caucuses after 16 Mar, that will be unfortunate as I'll be left with a

99s vs. 99ers...
For me, 99ers is really close to 99s, and they have a great history.
Just learned: 'C99ers' works OK, 'C99Pers' not so much
when spoken, anyway.
99
99ers works for me but then so did 49ers since I actually got to watch Joe Montana play in San Francisco and win of course.
