Tim Kaine Wants to Be Your VP & to Deregulate Your Bank

Tim Kaine Calls To Deregulate Banks As He Campaigns To Be Clinton’s VP

Oh, joy:

Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton is believed to be weighing Kaine among a handful of other potential VP choices. Her pick is widely viewed in Washington as a sign of her governing intentions. The former secretary of state has spent weeks attempting to woo progressive supporters of vanquished primary challenger Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). Choosing from one of the handful of names on her short list ― Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) or Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), for instance ― would signal that her camp is taking progressive concerns seriously.

Kaine, by contrast, is setting himself up as a figure willing to do battle with the progressive wing of the party. He has championed the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal that both Sanders and Warren oppose, and he is now publicly siding with bank deregulation advocates at the height of Clinton’s veepstakes.

Go on...

The big bank letter would help major firms including Capital One, PNC Bank and U.S. Bank, all of which control hundreds of billions of dollars in assets. Such large “regional banks,” Kaine writes, are being discriminated against based solely on the fact that they are so big.

In a letter to Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen, Comptroller of the Currency Thomas Curry and FDIC Chair Martin Gruenberg, Kaine argues that it is unfair for these large banks to be required to calculate and report their liquidity ― a critical measure of risk ― on a daily basis. Kaine wants to change that reporting to once a month. Kaine, along with Sens. Mark Warner (D-Va.), Gary Peters (D-Mich.) and Robert Casey (D-Pa.), argues that bigger banks don’t necessarily carry bigger risks, and thus shouldn’t face more aggressive oversight.

Gets better by the day, doesn't it?

He shares the same positions and beliefs as Hillary. Seems like a perfect match. She'll be able to blame him when she swings right in a week or so.

For most of us here, it makes no difference who she picks as VP, we're not going to vote for. If shes rides into the convention on a unicorn and announces that the Dalai Lama is her VP pick, I still won't vote for her. Realistically, at this point, there is absolutely nothing she could do to get me to vote for her.

I'm halfway through my month-long timeout from DailyKos for opposing the Clinton machine's callousness. I don't blame you or anyone else here for never being willing to vote for her. She has an amazing ability to disgust even Sanders supporters like me who will hold their nose and vote for her.

He is unlike any candidate we have ever had for President. He will take us back to the worst of the 1960's by giving voice to the anger and hatred that has simmered under the surface since then. He will be irresponsible with monetary and foreign policy. Believe me, i loathe and distrust both the Clintons and don't consider Hillary the flip side of Trump, that is, all that he is not.

Despite my extreme anger at the Clintons, Obama and other establishment Democrats for putting us in this position, we are here. If the election is close in my state, I will very reluctantly vote for Hillary. If not, I have already re-registered Green, and I will vote for Jill. Regardless of what happens in the election, I will become even more active in whatever comes out of Sanders' primary campaign and work like hell, from the bottom up, to get progressive candidates to run and be elected.

Why hold your nose and vote for Hillary Clinton and Tim friggin Kaine?

This will just bring about the TPP, Bank Deregulation and runaway corruption, and perpetual global War atrocities, regime change chaos and global destabilization, worldwide violence, and Oligarch enslavement like nothing else would.

It's time to embrace Third Parties in a big way, and more and more the public is coming around to embracing them. Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson is already polling at 10%-13% and is very close to being included in the General Presidential Debates. Green Party candidate Jill Stein is polling at 3%-7% and with just a little push from the 13 Million Bernie Sanders voters, she could very easily make it to the 15% mark -- especially since Clinton and Trump are both reviled and despised by about 55% of Americans in the first place.

So it is time to embrace the future here, the real future, and grow the third party movement in this Country.

And please don't fall for the bait of .. "yeah, but then Trump will win" nonsense as an excuse to vote for Endless War Atrocities (that have bankrupted our Country), Global chaos and violence, runway Globalized Corporatism and the deIndustrialization of our Country, and carefully planned Bankster Theft of what is left of our Nation's wealth.

Trump is bad (in multiple ways), but he could never be any worse than a future dominated by the TPP & NAFTA (deIndustrialization), Bankster Deregulation, Endless Warfare, Warfare escalation with Russia (via Syria conflict), and an arrogant thumbing of the nose to the progressive movement, and deliberate rigging of the Election process.

That is what Clinton / Kaine represent (no matter what useless words are written in the ignored party 'platform' document). Clinton will ensure that any progressive movement is cutoff at the knees (much like Obama, but only worse) ... for 8 long years.

So screw Kaine and Clinton.
Screw 'em
Let 'em twist on the vine ..

They don't deserve your vote under any circumstances, regardless of what you do or don't do with your nose!

It's time for the ruling Oligarch class to take a fall here. One way or another!

There is no justice. There can be no peace.

What's boring about a 'Democrat' campaigning for VP on passing the TPP and other corporate coups, encompassing as this does the destruction of democracy with the offshoring of domestic law to be created in a special corporate/billionaire-only court, specifically to maximize corporate/billionaire profits at all cost to others, to be shortly followed by the destruction of oxygen production and life on Earth within decades?

Not that anyone could want to survive, quite likely as 'competitive-with-Malasia' slave labour, in a world of unlimited corporate abuses/pollution, even if they could. But I have trouble seeing any of this as 'boring'.

but his selection would effectively lock-up Virginia for Clinton. Trump barely won the GOP primary contest in Virginia, and as demonstrated by the national convention, there's still resistance to his selection. Clinton will benefit from McAuliffe as Governor, Northern Virginia and the DC federal and lobbying industries help. Unlike his colleague Mark Warner, Kaine has great relationships with local party committees.

Personally, I think the TPP is a bigger issue than the VP, because it's continued existence could hurt her in Ohio and PA.

Well, President Obama's 'Justice' Department is obligingly pulling election observers following the most blatantly rigged Primary ever to ensure ease in the corporate Clinton faction's electoral cheating.

Since the Hillary faction can make up their own votes as they go along, they need appeal only to the self-interests they actually serve The People and country to on a TPPerware plate - they evidently don't need actual votes or that much of a pretense of an election.

The TPP and other corporate coups 'legally' claim that involved corporations and billionaires will directly make law to control the people of each involved country in their very own off-shored corporate court while they can sue into bankruptcy the public of any country attempting to protect its people, animals or environment in any manner which fails to maximize the anticipated profits of any of thousands of involved companies and billionaires. There will be no regulation of industry, just industry regulating people, at least until the supply of the latter runs out.

Since this is not only unconstitutional but a traitor's act in conspiring to cause a hostile corporate takeover of their own and other countries, a corrupt corporate-friendly Supremely Kangaroo Court is required to convince the people that this is somehow legitimate.

All evidence of electoral cheating must be recorded and used to ensure that neither Hillary nor the eventual and potentially altering Republican are accepted as President by Americans or the world. Was reading mention of this process earlier today, but cannot now recall particulars. (Kidney slow-downs do nothing good for my anything, but foggy memory is the worst...)

I'm not so sure she'll fare as well in the General. Don't forget that the rethugs control the electoral apparatus in a majority of states. So when it comes to making up votes I think they have the advantage. They certainly have more practice. And since they need to preserve their advantages down ballot, Trump will benefit even if it is only by association. Easier to flip the whole thing.

Also a lot is being made of the cutbacks in DOJ observers, but when have they done anything anyway to protect our votes? My thought is that they let the cat out of the bag too early and there will be a multitude of non official poll watchers, lawyers, etc. that will make the cheating more difficult this time around.

The GOP has been stealing elections longer than the Dems have, so they'll be in action fixing as much as they can. However, the Dems elevated "disenfranchisement" to a new level in these recent primariesl, so it's hard to say at this point who might be better at it by now.

And...about those prior DOJ observers--they used to be helpful (I speak from experience on that, someday I'll tell y'all the story...). I think it's more like "the cheating will be so blatant" that the DOJ couldn't afford to leave them in place.

so I'm sure he's taking a very principled stand (not really).

When Dodd-Frank was passed, part of the deal was that Dems pitted community banks and credit unions against the bigger Banks. Dodd-Frank had a lot of good things for credit unions and community banks.

On foreign policy Kaine isn't a Neo-con. His corporate track record is effectively in line with Clintons, maybe even slightly to the left, although definitely not progressive. He's definitely not going to overshadow Clinton. Mark Warner, Cory Booker, et al definitely would have been worse, at least from my view. But this is the kind of ticket that could lose the election to someone like Trump who is aggressively pursuing a base strategy.

If Hillary wins, impeachment hearings begin on day one and if republicans retain both houses, she could be removed from office in 30 days.

If Trump wins I have little doubt that he will get very frustrated that he really can't be the dictator and will simply step down to take care of his businesses. I suspect he won't make it 2 years before he gives up.

Kagan is advising her on foreign policy, but there has been many leaks about what her foreign policy is going to be. Pretty much anything Bibi wants.
And he wants Assad gone as he did Saddam and Gaddafi.
He also wants Iran destroyed so that Israel is the only super power in the Middle East.
Look at the republicans who have endorsed her over Trump. Paulson endorsed Hillary because trump wouldn't promise to privatize social security.
I don't know how many people are aware that Bill was getting ready to privatize it, but thankfully his incident with Monica saved us. Any bets on Hillary working with the republicans to finish what he started?

What an election. On one side we got Trump. I can kind of see how he could easily have been an 'enforcer' for his slumlord Daddy, going round threatening people. He's also got mob connections, lovely character traits in a Presidential candidate. He has about as much class as the petty hoods he cut business deals with. I wouldn;t put it past him to call in his embarrassingly tacky decorators and turn the White House into a gaudy mess like Mira-Lago.

On 'our' side we got a money grubbing pay-to-play war whore who's going to be laughing at the Left as she thumbs her nose at us as she makes her 'pivot' to the right. The explanation that makes the most sense to me so far is that she believes there are a vast number of people out their who are a "warm purple" just as she is. She thinks many of these people are Republicans who can be moved to the Democratic side. She would then be able to build the neo-liberal "Democratic" party of her dreams.

The flaw in her argument as I see is that if her logic were true, it would be even more true for independents. And she consistently lost independents to Bernie and lots of independents came out for Trump.
