NY Attorney General to Trump Foundation: Stop Raising Money Now

Schneiderman's office says continued failure to comply with state law 'shall be deemed to be a continuing fraud upon the people of the state of New York'

Citing violation of state law, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's office on Monday said that it ordered the Trump Foundation to immediately stop raising money.

The Notice of Violation (pdf) his office sent Friday said that the foundation raised money in the state in 2016 but had failed to register as required with the Charities Bureau and provide yearly financial reports and audited financial statements.

The notice orders the foundation to provide the Charities Bureau the required information within 15 days, and, "To the extent that the Trump Foundation has engaged in solicitation or fundraising activity in New York in other years, the Trump Foundation must file all delinquent financial reports as required by section 172-b [of Article 7-A of the Executive Law] for such years within fifteen (15) days of this notice."

Failure to do so "shall be deemed to be a continuing fraud upon the people of the state of New York," the notice states.

The Trump campaign, meanwhile, expressed concern "about the political motives behind A.G. Schneiderman's investigation."

And THIS is why I have never been able to figure out for the life of me why he ever decided to run for the Presidency. A guy with that much to hide, a guy who's had so much bad press during his lifetime that it should have given him a hint of the troubles he'd be facing once he made himself such an easy target. I know people said the Clinton's put him up to it, or that he never really meant to run. Either scenario may or may not be the truth. But even that doesn't explain why he didn't cut it off before all his moral failures came to light.

I hope he explains it himself someday. Because then maybe we'll have a clue as to why lemmings behave the way they do. This is Trump's 'day at the beach'.

according to a 2014 poll conducted by the National Science Foundation. I think that these voters are going to think there's a vendetta against Trump and will not be persuaded otherwise.

The only way to attack this no-nothingism is for the AG to aggressively follow through and try and get an indictment and early trial. Climate deniers, flat earthers, etc, are killing us because politicians pander to their fantasies and anytime you can show them that fantasies can have serious repercussions, like Trump repeatedly ignoring laws, the better off we will all be. You can't compromise with willful ignorance.

apparently 42% of Americans think Hillary is trustworthy, if you go by favorability measures though other measures show her down around 11%: http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2016-election/poll-clinton-maintains-big...

So there appears to be goofy beliefs on both sides of the aisle.

Clinton Foundation Admits Speech Fees Are Not Donations. Will Hillary Amend Her Own Taxes Too?

The Clinton Foundation has amended its tax filings for 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. In a highly structured statement, Foundation President Donna Shalala explained that this was all voluntary. The updated returns can be found at Clinton Foundation amendments. It follows the revelations earlier this year that millions of donations were omitted and misclassified. There was no suggestion that these monies would be taxed to the Clinton Foundation, or to Mr. or Ms. Clinton. Even so, it was still embarrassing.

Revenue from speeches was one of the delicate errors. Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Clinton all gave speeches in 2010, 2011, and 2012. The money was reported as charitable contributions in the original filings. Actually, of course, the speech fees were payments for services. The Foundation notes that correction in its press statements. It is curious, since it would seem to be something the Foundation was aware of when it made the original incorrect filings. After all, the Foundation did not send any donor acknowledgement letters to these speech hosts, and that suggests they were purely fees-for-services and not donations from the start.

For the Clintons, there may be a legitimate way to structure their fees. There is no question that they would not want to receive the speaking fees personally and then hand them over to the Foundation. They would end up with a big tax bill, since charitable contributions are strictly limited. But end runs in taxes are closely scrutinized. Besides, speech fees are normally sourced to the place where they are given. The Clintons could end up taxed in numerous states and countries. What’s more, they could end up with no deduction at all for the charitable contributions that would probably be sourced to their residences.

Obviously they can get away with tax fraud. The rest of us, not so much. Even I've been audited by the IRS, and they were pretty nasty until it turned out they owed me money. (God, so long long long ago.) When I went in for my audit this woman says something like 'you owe $624 (around that much) in back taxes and we want to know when your're going to pay up" and she threw this form at me from across the table. Well for ONCE in my life I was prepared, had all my docs and receipts and tax returns, and I KNEW I didn't owe back taxes (but I was still scared) so I threw my paperwork back at her and said "I don't owe you a damn thing". Never saw her again, but I did get a check in the mail. And when I complained about having paperwork thrown at me, I was told that their 'agent' didn't do things like that.

But I was shaking in my boots until the matter was settled.

This Trump Foundation investigation will be more rigorous than the election fraud investigation Schneiderman launched after the Dem primary that we have never heard anything about since?

The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?

Lol, the Clintons are far worse and get away with murder, so he'd probably figured that something as relatively minor as not submitting the same financial information for his Foundation as the Clintons didn't (accurately) report regarding their Foundation would get the same pass given him. Silly boy!

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.
