Talk about tag team pissing off the Chinese

The Chinese military is negotiating with US counterparts over the “appropriate handling” of an unmanned American submarine seized by the Chinese navy, officials have confirmed.

“It is ours,” Davis said of the drone. “It’s clearly marked as ours. We would like it back, and we would like this not to happen again.” He said the drone costs about $150,000 (£120,000) and was largely commercial, off-the-shelf technology.

And this one

“China steals United States Navy research drone in international waters – rips it out of water and takes it to China in unpresidented act,” Trump said, misspelling “unprecedented”.

Which one is doing the better job of pissing off China, the President or the President Elect?

I thought the President was too busy pissing off Russia! apparently he can multitask.

Has the US has got tired of messing with the minnows in the global pond and have gone for the sharks in the water?

It keeps our minds off the continual asset stripping by the Oligarchs I suppose.

It keeps our minds off the bloody fiasco that is the Middle-East.

I think someone cursed us with "may you live in interesting times"

We have always been allies with Eurussia.

Until we must be at war with Eurussia again, in which case we have always been the strongest of allies with Eastasia.

I withhold my vote. She's far more dangerous and far more crooked than Trump. America dodged a bullet when she proved once again she's a lousy candidate who has no business running for president. No need to unpresident Hillary -- she's done it to herself twice now.

This is exactly the type of incident that sparks escalation under the leadership of a hothead. Were either Trump or Clinton now in office, I'd expect the brinkmanship games to be well underway.

Man-child will not be able to resist.

The popular opinion in here is that Clinton would be the one to get us into a war (big). I don't disagree with that but I've felt (and still do) that Trump is just as likely due to his thin skin and his lacking in the comprehension of scale. No insult is to small for him to bring out the big guns.

There's a diary on DK about The NY Times opinion of how Trump is going to be a threat to our civil liberties and ignore violence.
As usual they won't admit that Obama has already done the things that they are saying Trump will do, so I left this comment on there.

snoopydawg ZhenRenDec 17 · 04:31:21 PM
These indicators have been in place since after 9/11/2001.

"His indicators include a failure to reject violence unambiguously, a readiness to curtail rivals' civil liberties, and the denial of the legitimacy of elected governments."

Congress passed first the Patriot act and then the Military Commissions Act which saw our civil liberties curtailed.
Plus there are over 800 private contractors who have the authority to spy on us as well as the NSA. How many times do you think any of those organizations get a warrant to spy or collect all of our information? If they haven't gotten warrants to do these things then they are breaking our 4th Amendment rights. I don't think that the constitution allows secret courts to make up secret laws. Nor should congress be allowed to vote on our Bill of Rights without some type of constitutional vote or whatever they need to do that nullified our rights.
During both the Bush and Obama administrations we have seen the police continue to be militarized and who was the president when DHS worked with mayors all over the country to brutally dismantle OWS?
Who is the current president while the BLM protectors are met with riot police?
Finally, who is the current president overseeing private mercenary contractors attack unarmed civilians and let the attack dogs bite them at the DAPL protests? Or watched as the police sprayed the protesters with water when the temperature was below freezing?
So yes there are signs about how dangerous the Trump administration is going to be, but that doesn't excuse what the last two administrations have done.
And as ZhenRen pointed out, the Bush administration committed war crimes and the Obama administration didn't prosecute them which he should have done, just like Ford should have prosecuted Nixon for his crimes.

All the propaganda has be corporate/government-approved and only Clintonista-types - such as those at TOP who invariably declared videos of Hillary's very own speeches and documented evidence of her actions to be 'right-wing conspiracy theories', the term having now been altered to 'Russian electoral interference' - are allowed to Correct The (actual, reality-based) Record by propagandizing the American public.

And of course having disgusted insiders leaking all of these Clinton-related/DNC/Podesta, etc. emails to WikiLeaks and the public would have driven all involved insane, if they hadn't apparently been born there already.

When I first saw Trump's tweet, for some reason it hit me as more of an insult to the U.S. - - That China was able to do it and get away with it I suppose is how I took it. A bully and lunch money kind of thing. I thought it was funny too (except the potential war part, ha).

Trump corrected the misspelling and hour or two later (after having it explained to him, I'm sure).

Jeff Davis said the incident could be the first time in recent history that China has taken a US naval vessel.

Everyone is calling this thing a "naval vessel". 'Cause it sounds like they captured a ship. Lets put this in perspective:

He said the drone costs about $150,000 (£120,000) and was largely commercial, off-the-shelf technology.

A fucking BOLT could cost $150,000, when the Navy is involved. It's about the size (and shape) of a torpedo, but a torpedo would cost many times that. And, speaking of looking like a torpedo (with wings):

A Chinese navy ship had discovered the “unidentified device” and was checking on it for the sake of maritime safety, the Global Times quoted the official as saying.

If a ship in any Navy on Earth saw this thing swimming around, they would be at least 'concerned' about the safety of something that looks like a torpedo coming toward them. The prudent course would be to blow the thing up, but they captured it, and could possibly give it back...all $150,000 worth.

Navy Drone.jpg

“It is ours,” Davis said of the drone. “It’s clearly marked as ours."

"Captain, there appears to be a torpedo headed toward our boat."
"Well, lets let it get closer so we can see if it has a return address printed on it anywhere...."

I'm not too worried about war with China.

Their military isn't up to it and their economy wouldn't survive it.

So it's OK for TPTB to use the US government and military to nuke hell out yet another people's country perceived as being weaker, as they've been planning to do to a number not yet militarily attacked/invaded because these are able to defend against a conventional military attack/invasion?

They've been for some time been setting up missiles against China, Russia and dunno who else off their 'nuke attack' list.

Even if it wasn't horribly, despicably, pathologically wrong, the world isn't up to their planned multiple 'limited nuclear wars' - which these nuts think they'll live through in no-doubt luxury bunkers until glitches/power loss shuts down their life support - and life wouldn't survive it.

I'm with Agatha Christie's Poirot and I also do not approve of murder. Or of the mad anti-scientists running and ruining the world.

Unfortunately, any excuse will do for these psychopaths who, if you'll recall, have no compunction about making any number of excuses up or of kidnapping and torturing people until they confess to whatever it is they think they can use as one.

Edit: also a military/nuclear mugging is not a war - it's a horrendous (and should be unimaginable) international crime. The psychopathic PTB running the US make the Nazis look like their blueprint, as they evidently were.

Most non aggressive act of aggression they could come up with and still stir the shit pot of international relations.

Instead of crying over the loss of their expensive toy, the US Navy should actually be happy. They will be able to buy an identical drone next year at a quarter of the cost from Alibaba.

Not to mention that people have reason to mistrust (especially US, once identified) drones and to defend themselves against them/identify their intended purpose, even if not on the open sea. And even if not a wedding party.
