Larry Timmons has died.

A few minutes ago my wife told me Larry was killed: This happened April 5 and because I ignore local "news" this is the first I have heard.
Authorities say a man riding a lawn mower has died after it was hit by a truck on U.S. Highway 30.
This is the third time during the past few years in which friends of mine have been killed this way. The previous two were riding bicycles. No one around here really cared very much because people driving cars are more important than people that tend to not drive cars.
Larry Timmons a truly incredible human being. Gone but never forgotten.

sorry for your loss
Here's one for your buddy. I have played this one at my friends' funerals.

No Guile No Ego
Richard Luehrs (Yet another person I should write about.) introduced me to Larry Timmons twenty-plus years ago. If I remember correctly Larry was covered in sawdust and wore grease stained clothing. With that smile he reminded me of the pictures of my dad at his age. Larry did odd jobs for me and I paid him what seemed a reasonable amount, but Larry lived by a different set of rules. What he did not need he gave away to those with a greater need.
He seemed to never let the world get him down. He would collect junk until he had enough parts to assemble a lawnmower, then sell it for very little to someone that really needed it.
I think he may be the only person I have ever known who truly embodied the notion of "live simply so that others may simply live."
Rest In Peace, Larry.
And my condolences to you, Robert.
Here's the most fitting remembrance I know for someone good. Your friend sounds like just that sort of person.

Sorry for your loss.
Sorry for the world's loss.

so sorry for your loss
I understand, me and my family of 4 have lost 10 dear ones in just 8 years. Any time our home phone rings, my daughter looks fretful.
I know this may not mean much coming from a perfect stranger, but thank you for sharing your friend with us. it would have been a greater loss not to even have known how much he meant to others.
take care

As I have often (too often) counseled my students: Sharing loss can help you to live with the loss. It never goes away, it becomes part of you.
Perhaps that sounds trite to some but the macho-tough-it-out approach is so very destructive. So, thanks for sharing.
