Killing MORE people will solve the problem (DMW TOP Salvage)

Yes, please, let's send our soldiers, armed with guns, bombs, knives, and large vehicles that can easily hit a man and keep going.
Clearly when we just gave those things to the people IN the country, well that wasn't good enough.
Nope, WE are the experts when it comes to solving problems. And we solve problems by killing people.

After all, the BIG bad guy must be punished. And we will punish him by killing lots and lots of people in his country until they agree with us that he's a bad person.

We will drop bombs on people who dared to join the army of the country. Clearly if you join the Army of a country you agree with EVERYTHING that country does. Therefore, you are a legitimate target when your country is punished for the actions of a few people. Just the way it works. Of course if you follow orders to the letter, we also will charge YOU with a crime if you're a soldier. So therefore, you're responsible for not overthrowing the country in the first place, and no amount of rebel groups that are diametrically opposed to you are a justification for your inaction. Bombs away.

If you're a civilian of that country and you're not with the side that we picked, you're also a legitimate target. Of course we don't target you on purpose. Just attack the soldiers of the country. You know, your husbands, fathers, brothers... All those folks who are committing hideous crimes by the very nature of serving their country. You're expected to accept our judgement of their guilt and bear no grudge. After all, it IS a war, and you picked the wrong side.

We of course cannot kill the person we want removed from power. That would be immoral and illegal. No, the only people we can punish are the people who live in his country. After all, We wouldn't like it if somebody came over here and assassinated OUR president. Nope, clearly we'd be fine with any country on the face of the planet coming over here and bombing our people to make a point about things going on in the country. Totally OK with it. Hrm... nobody's trying it. Well, then the point is that nobody has ANY complaints about the way we treat our own people, otherwise they'd clearly be attacking our people to make the government change its ways. Wait, no, when it happens to US we call that Terrorism... uhm... never mind there.

Anyhoo, the point is that Just like every other war where we go in and bomb people, or shoot them, things always immediately change for the better and we are always greeted with flowers and chocolates. Or am I confusing that with the Defense Contractor Luncheons when they get the Contracts?

If bombing doesn't work, it is because we did not drop enough bombs. The answer is always more bombs, more violence.

bombing historically actually INCREASES peoples desire to fight back/resentment towards the attackers.

Course bombs also are very expensive, so we know why they're still our go-to solution.

I do not pretend I know what I do not know.

Today Rafael ("Ted") Cruz wielded a mighty double standard against the Cuban regime of Raul Castro.

On Sunday, President Barack Obama, a retinue of celebrities in tow, is expected to arrive in the Cuban capital to hang out with Raul Castro and his henchmen, all of which will be breathlessly documented by the media mavens along for the ride.

Meanwhile, political prisoners languishing in dungeons across the island will hear this message: Nobody has your back. You’re alone with your tormentors. The world has forgotten about you.

They will not be on TV, rubbing elbows with the Obamas or left-wing politicians like Nancy Pelosi. There will be no mojitos at the U.S. Embassy for them. Raul Castro denies their very existence.

...I am the son of a Cuban who was beaten and tortured by Batista’s regime, and my aunt was likewise brutalized by Castro’s thugs. Thankfully, both my father and my Tía Sonia found freedom in the United States.

He says that as if torture is a bad thing. Actually, to his credit Cruz has been a torture opponent until recently. He reversed his stance last month. All the Tea-GOP presidential candidates now advocate torture by the U.S. government, despite the fact it is a federal crime and prohibited by treaty.

"We've done the impossible, and that makes us mighty."

It's like a check the box moment for campaigning in Florida. "Remember to mention how awful Castro is!"

But I've always loved the aphorism (if that's what it is): "Who would Jesus bomb?"

You point out with irony and snark what is just so pathetically obvious - so obvious, virtually no-one gets it.

Virtually, because we (the 'ultra-liberal c99p crowd') get it, most of the Buddhists get it…

Maybe the rationalizations run just too deep, maybe our simian forbearers bequeathed to us an almost limitless supply of blood-thirst, like it appears to be the case (newly discovered) among the chimpanzees.

But thank you for this.

The spirit of party serves to enfeeble the Public Administration,
agitates with Jealousies and false alarms, and opens the door to corruption,
which finds access to the government itself through the channels of party passions.

Nearly every comment I used to make on TOP relied on it.

Mainly because being snarky was the only way I could say what I was really thinking without being hidden.

Now, I know for a fact that technique wouldn't work.
