I just don't like to read there anymore. I sometimes twitter MB's green diary compilation of others. That's all. I think it's a waste of emotional energy to go over there like a masochist, knowing that what you experience there in the threads is causing anger. What for?

Zhen Ren, while self admittedly drunk, started harassing triv33. Shortly after triv wrote a response diary where she recounted her actual factual rape experience and related it to the way Zhen's attack made her feel. Zhen, still drunk, zoomed in and started abusing her again and her other friends and I were back at the barricades.
Then Denise Oliver Velez dropped by and because Zhen was part of her Black Kos posse started making excuses, among them that triv's rape experience was not real.
So I called her a rapist apologist.
Now you have to understand that the entire power structure of DK already hated me because I reverse engineered their system and wrote about it publicly on site so anyone who wanted to would know how things worked and I'd been banished once before for calling Mike S a 'Good German' because he defended Obama's suppression of the Abu Ghraib torture photographs (Meteor Blades asked me to return, I shouldn't have), so it wasn't a real big shock.
Only thing I liked about the damn place anyway was TiaRachel's Daily Show Diaries.

On a recent diary I used several links from some other blog. No actual words. Just links.
Which isn't any definition of plagerism that I know of.
The other blog wanted credit anyway, eventhough my diary was 70% unrelated items.
The other charges are true: I've been bad-mouthing the Democratic Party and DKos, and I don't respect Identity Politics.
Either way, I've cut down my number of diaries from 1566 to 718 at TOP.

When the TO is over I'll get more serious deleting the rest.

Your back catalog is of no benefit to them, nobody looks besides yourself and your friends, comments and recs are closed.
For you it represents your history and I wouldn't be so quick to dispose of it. The only thing it makes difficult for the drones is providing context outside any comment threads in their history, it doesn't disappear the comments or the incestuous tips.
But it does the same for any of your friends, and having followed you for years (albeit mostly silently) I'd say you have far more of those than detractors.

I've seen that statistic on many other articles, but it's not just Blacks who are worse off economically.
The number of people people on social programs such as food stamps have gone up dramatically under his tenure. Including many members of the military.
It's been well documented that income inequality has gotten worse and is as bad as it was in 1932.
That statistic can't be blamed on congress alone.
If Obamas's two heads of the justice department had held the CEOs of the banks accountable for causing the global economic crisis and charged them with the fraud they committed instead of just slapping them with a few millions in fines, then they wouldn't have continued committing fraud while millions of people continued to lose their homes.
Instead Obama sat back and watched the banks continue to illegally foreclosure on people's homes.
Lynch also couldn't be bothered charging the banks that were laundering drug money for the cartels.
And it seems that no one in the doj had a problem with Hillary's state department fixing many financial institutions problems with the state department and then seeing both Bill and their foundation profit from it even though she had promised to keep her foundation separate from her duties as SOS.

I have seen many comments about what people wrote on this site mentioned over there.
The childish behavior of people running back to tell them how naughty we are here because we don't buy the party line.
If DK was actually in line with the mission statement of electing better democrats, then they would have gotten behind Bernie because he's seems to be the only person who is standing for the things that the democrats used to stand for.
Hillary's triangulation isn't a democratic value.
Putting millions of people into poverty, invading countries and killing innocent civilians by either the use of drones or by the military used to be what people over think used to be against.
I watched many of those members say that OBAMA was right for destroying Libya and had no problem with Hillary laughing at Gaddafi's brutal death.
They can't or won't admit that the DP has sold us out and that they aren't any different from the republicans except for some social issues.
Everything else they are on board with them.

And there's that Loyalty allusion again. Must keep the Oath of the Democratic Party site. Well, I for one despise Oathkeepers and said so in my piece at TOP, "As Another Pissed Off Liberal There Are Some Things I'm Not Interested In." Along with dallasdoc we were the only two writers there who surpassed 1000 rec's in the past year or two. Confirming get again there were way more of there who identified with the pronounced principles and values here at C99, than the small but vocal Neoliberal pestilence that invaded TOP; but they drove all of us away. Good thing that was settled. I can't see myself going back.

I’m interested in why the CEO of Con Edison makes $10 million a year in a sector everybody relies upon that should mandate it it collectively owned by the public as a non-profit.
I’m interested in fighting against the vested interest of a power elite which have turned our political system into an auction house sold to the highest bidder of campaign “donations.”
I’m interested in exposing a system which has forced my friends to have to go to other countries to get prescription drugs and surgery because it’s too costly here...
That’s where my loyalty lies. Not to any website or political party or my own ethnicity or the college I graduated from. Whoever speaks that language clearly and unequivocally will earn my fealty. We will stand and fight together.
My loyalty is to the dispossessed, the marginalized, the downtrodden, the unjustly imprisoned. My loyalty is to the great mass of people forced into the desperate shadows of un/under-employment, hunger, not being able to spend time with their children, working while sick and not able to take proper vacations. To the poor folks harassed, beaten and killed by the cops...
They were so deathly afraid of real-life conversations about economic inequality and the everyday travails of the majority of Americans, for fear that their team might lose if regular Americans would be awakened to their fraud by people like those currently at C99.
I'm so glad it became so glaringly obvious that those liars, dupes and blind cheerleaders roved to be nothing but sellout corporatists, Republicans in drag, "fiscally conservative and socially liberal," who got their comeuppance big-time this year, finally. They make me want to puke. Fuck those people. Let it be known from here on out: there's no two ways about it, they gave us Trump. Full-stop.

Those who stayed had no ethical problem with being told how to vote and how to think, and also had no ethical issue with applying the duress to other community members.

I have long regarded that blog-cult in the same way I do the Republican presidential debates: They are both shameful spectacles that make me squirm with embarrassment.
In the real world, I always hid any connection I had with it. From the beginning I would stop periodically and remove every word I wrote there with meticulous care. Once my Diary area was clear, I would feel clean again. I also felt safer knowing that my writing could not be permanently displayed in that Internet dive, against my will. That idea horrified me; it would be a violation of my privacy. My self-editing did eventually pay off.
My reasons for being there were good, relative to my own growth. And there were many talented and worthwhile people. Most could not see we were mingling in very rancid virtual space, created by slacker software with a corrupt user interface. The algorithms of "reward" produced ugliness in people and generated reflexive bullying hate in the social fibers that formed there. Software is a powerful thing, and it might have been responsible for the grave distortions in the personalities of those who worked the back office. Whatever the inception of the poisonous atmosphere, once it was established it actively deformed the natural paths to conscious evolution. It left everyone it touched a little diminished.
The self-sickness of that blog-cult is a known thing in certain circles. So, given my own work and my own personal "identity politics" (heh) — I worked to avoid any embarrassment that might come from an association with the place. Not even Hillary wanted to get too close.

The community ovah theah is finally arriving at the end of their post-murtum discussion about whether or not the democratic party has a prublum. They seam to think it don't. Whew, what a relief ! The selling off of Amercun Democracy is everyone elses' fault ! Dun't blame the guy selling the lists !
Many users over there come to view what they call "the community" as just that, a real live cuddly-wuddly community where all right-thinking democratics are welcome. This in spite of the disappearances, the heavy handed "justice", the willingness to toy with other democratics in the name of troll control, the cliquesters who conspire at the cess pool (aka the help desk) to get other members banned. That "help desk" should be labeled "Abandon hope, all ye who enter here: Waders required beyond this point". It doesn't get any uglier anywhere on the internet: the GOS help desk threads are not moderated and anything gos. That's where I have seen the lordiest and ladiest of orange fruit flies a-leaping. The cruelty there is so blatant that it gives a sense that some of those orange fruit flies are not really theah to elect moah and bettah democratics: you will know them by their (rooty-tooty-fruity fly) acts.
So hats off to you and to GJS and so many others who landed here, for remembering what you were doing over there. Not everyone does.
…worlds there. I only spoke of one, which happened to be aligned to a website project I was working on. I originally went there to look at the softwear being used for the online community blog. I knew the developer at that time. I was not very familiar with the topics being discussed.
I will stick with my demonization of the software, though. The community moderation system was designed for abuse and bulling. Public shaming was institutionalized. Cooperative voting among small gangs could torment or silence anyone. It turned more than a few people into monsters. Some of the most vulnerable were tormented. All this was inspired and automated by the customized interactive software.
The software created a culture. Years later I would see first hand a migration of long time users caused by that culture run amok. Among those who came here were people gravely changed by the experience. They were defenseless and unprepared to be jettisoned from the social culture. It was not about politics. It was savage battleground and the behaviors turned evil. For that, I blame the software and the sociopathy of the back office. (But more on that another time.)
You are right. I overlooked the site's monetization scheme. I saw that side of the website as a political boutique for amateur activists, and ignored it. The direct financial exploits of users must have been considerable. The secondary exploit, where user's identities were rented or sold — psychodollars — must have been a bonanza while it lasted. Thanks for the heads-up on that.
Mostly I saw a buzzkill for the hearts and minds of those people who were seeking fulfillment of their humanity. That's a type of maliciousness I cannot analyze. I don't have the proper genetic disposition to mind-meld with something that alien.
I regarded the site as the think tank lab it was designed to be. A controlled test market for political framing, propaganda, memes, candidates, policies, and retreads like racism and misogyny.
You know, that place is not the Democratic Party. Not even close. Hillary wouldn't be caught dead there. It's a mosh pit. It's not something you would want to mention on your resume. The fine print reads like the WWE:

It's hard to know where their political loyalties lie, if any exist. They have done so much cumulative harm to the Democratic brand that one might believe they are a tool array that belongs to the opposition. But when viewing them through the corporate lens, they appear to have the same core values as Hillary, who would speak at the opening of a door if there was enough money in it.

Fighting for democratic principles,... well, since forever
I joined it with my last post over there. Was put on TO for telling a newbie GFY for blaming me for Trump (quoting my own diary at him), and then my post sat at the top of their Rec List for the entire following day. That generated a lot of intense criticism of Markos, and over a dozen new user registrations over here.
Greywolfe also got banned for his wonderful diary casting Bernie as Gandalf and Hillary as Saruman. Popular outrage over there forced them to rescind the banning.
DK is turning itself into MSDNC, so tiresomely in the bag for Clintonites politics that it's marginalizing itself out of the marketplace of ideas. Everywhere it is mentioned it is a laughing stock. Your TO is contributing to that process of self-disqualification. Congratulations. Posting your splendid essay over there did that good. At got you a lot more sympathetic readers than I expected it would.

I have never been banned or even TO'd at TOP. I post for a while and then get disgusted and quit. Sometime heavy lurking has been enough to make me back away. Between occasions when I posted I usually forgot my password so I have used several names over there. Even though I could not read the hidden comments, the viciousness of the gangs and the favoritism quickly becomes obvious.
If the goal is really to elect more and better Dems, the hatefulness at TOP always makes me wonder why I ever bother to vote for Dems. Legitimate criticisms of the currently favored candidate are viciously suppressed. How can problems be solved it they are not acknowledged?
The rampant use of words like sexism and racism as generic insults destroys their true meaning and prevents acknowledgement and discussion of the actual devastation assorted -isms cause. We are unlikely to find solutions if it is no longer possible to discuss the problems. If Denise wants to know why Hillary lost she should go look in the mirror. I always stayed as far away from her and her gang as I could get. I say this as a physically handicapped female with minority ethnicity. It is never OK to attack others for the identities they were born with. Even a white guy deserves to be judged for the content of his character, not the color of his skin. I have been looking for the place where some of you went after you were banned and/or quit in disgust. This place was mentioned in a rebuttal diary about Dallas docs last diary. Normally I would have lurked here longer before signing up, but I recognized some of your 'names'. I also read a few threads and was relieved at both the civility and the freedom to consider ideas without worrying that they could be considered anti-DNC.
The really interesting thing to me is that some people who are sometimes touchy or aggressive over there are much more mellow and polite here. (I am not talking about you, but you have probably noticed this about some people here.) I am still trying to figure out the mechanics that keep c99 civil without heavy-handed moderation.
I am mostly interested in working together to solve problems and would like to see cooperation between progressives whether they are Dem, Independent or Green.

I dunno, I've moderated several sites and rarely have to do anything at all except spam removal. They could do a much better job at DK (or I could, but I don't delude myself I'm somebody special) because they have the tools to do it (I've explained several times, publicly and privately). I think that for whatever reason, and I'm not a mind reader, that they're happy with the way things are.
There was a rec-listed diary written by someone who freaked out about sitting next to a Republican while Christmas shopping. Apparently, he is happy that he doesn't know any Republicans and never has to interact with them. It's not healthy to live in a bubble where your beliefs are never challenged. I teach my students that diversity is about a lot more than skin color and religion.
It used to be that you could post whatever you want as long as you didn't advocate voting against Democrats. Now you can't be too critical of Democrats. And you can't say anything that has also been repeated by a Republican. They just want to plug their fingers in their ears and pretend that everything that they don't like is about racism and sexism. They were robbed. They are victims. They are awesome. And everyone who disagrees is stupid.

I've seen that statistic on many other articles, but it's not just Blacks who are worse off economically.
The number of people people on social programs such as food stamps have gone up dramatically under his tenure. Including many members of the military.
It's been well documented that income inequality has gotten worse and is as bad as it was in 1932.
That statistic can't be blamed on congress alone.
If Obamas's two heads of the justice department had held the CEOs of the banks accountable for causing the global economic crisis and charged them with the fraud they committed instead of just slapping them with a few millions in fines, then they wouldn't have continued committing fraud while millions of people continued to lose their homes.

I have long regarded that blog-cult in the same way I do the Republican presidential debates: They are both shameful spectacles that make me squirm with embarrassment.
In the real world, I always hid any connection I had with it. From the beginning I would stop periodically and remove every word I wrote there with meticulous care. Once my Diary area was clear, I would feel clean again. I also felt safer knowing that my writing could not be permanently displayed in that Internet dive, against my will. That idea horrified me; it would be a violation of my privacy. My self-editing did eventually pay off.
My reasons for being there were good, relative to my own growth. And there were many talented and worthwhile people. Most could not see we were mingling in very rancid virtual space, created by slacker software with a corrupt user interface. The algorithms of "reward" produced ugliness in people and generated reflexive bullying hate in the social fibers that formed there. Software is a powerful thing, and it might have been responsible for the grave distortions in the personalities of those who worked the back office. Whatever the inception of the poisonous atmosphere, once it was established it actively deformed the natural paths to conscious evolution. It left everyone it touched a little diminished.
The self-sickness of that blog-cult is a known thing in certain circles. So, given my own work and my own personal "identity politics" (heh) — I worked to avoid any embarrassment that might come from an association with the place. Not even Hillary wanted to get too close.

Anyone who signs a petition over there is, imo, by definition, not as smart as an average cartoon bear. The community ovah theah is finally arriving at the end of their post-murtum discussion about whether or not the democratic party has a prublum. They seam to think it don't. Whew, what a relief ! The selling off of Amercun Democracy is everyone elses' fault ! Dun't blame the guy selling the lists !
Many users over there come to view what they call "the community" as just that, a real live cuddly-wuddly community where all right-thinking democratics are welcome. This in spite of the disappearances, the heavy handed "justice", the willingness to toy with other democratics in the name of troll control, the cliquesters who conspire at the cess pool (aka the help desk) to get other members banned. That "help desk" should be labeled "Abandon hope, all ye who enter here: Waders required beyond this point". It doesn't get any uglier anywhere on the internet: the GOS help desk threads are not moderated and anything gos. That's where I have seen the lordiest and ladiest of orange fruit flies a-leaping. The cruelty there is so blatant that it gives a sense that some of those orange fruit flies are not really theah to elect moah and bettah democratics: you will know them by their (rooty-tooty-fruity fly) acts.
So hats off to you and to GJS and so many others who landed here, for remembering what you were doing over there. Not everyone does.

…worlds there. I only spoke of one, which happened to be aligned to a website project I was working on. I originally went there to look at the softwear being used for the online community blog. I knew the developer at that time. I was not very familiar with the topics being discussed.
I will stick with my demonization of the software, though. The community moderation system was designed for abuse and bulling. Public shaming was institutionalized. Cooperative voting among small gangs could torment or silence anyone. It turned more than a few people into monsters. Some of the most vulnerable were tormented. All this was inspired and automated by the customized interactive software.
The software created a culture. Years later I would see first hand a migration of long time users caused by that culture run amok. Among those who came here were people gravely changed by the experience. They were defenseless and unprepared to be jettisoned from the social culture. It was not about politics. It was savage battleground and the behaviors turned evil. For that, I blame the software and the sociopathy of the back office. (But more on that another time.)
You are right. I overlooked the site's monetization scheme. I saw that side of the website as a political boutique for amateur activists, and ignored it. The direct financial exploits of users must have been considerable. The secondary exploit, where user's identities were rented or sold — psychodollars — must have been a bonanza while it lasted. Thanks for the heads-up on that.
Mostly I saw a buzzkill for the hearts and minds of those people who were seeking fulfillment of their humanity. That's a type of maliciousness I cannot analyze. I don't have the proper genetic disposition to mind-meld with something that alien.
I regarded the site as the think tank lab it was designed to be. A controlled test market for political framing, propaganda, memes, candidates, policies, and retreads like racism and misogyny.
You know, that place is not the Democratic Party. Not even close. Hillary wouldn't be caught dead there. It's a mosh pit. It's not something you would want to mention on your resume. The fine print reads like the WWE:
It's hard to know where their political loyalties lie, if any exist. They have done so much cumulative harm to the Democratic brand that one might believe they are a tool array that belongs to the opposition. But when viewing them through the corporate lens, they appear to have the same core values as Hillary, who would speak at the opening of a door if there was enough money in it.

Personally, I think your comments about identity politics in the diary and in the comments were harmless, as well as a small part of a large whole trying to make sense of where this country is going and what might be why it happened. And you didn't say anything in this diary about deleting or not wanting to be a part of it - someone's holding a grudge?

Was put on TO for telling a newbie GFY for blaming me for Trump (quoting my own diary at him), and then my post sat at the top of their Rec List for the entire following day. That generated a lot of intense criticism of Markos, and over a dozen new user registrations over here.
Greywolfe also got banned for his wonderful diary casting Bernie as Gandalf and Hillary as Saruman. Popular outrage over there forced them to rescind the banning.
DK is turning itself into MSDNC, so tiresomely in the bag for Clintonites politics that it's marginalizing itself out of the marketplace of ideas. Everywhere it is mentioned it is a laughing stock. Your TO is contributing to that process of self-disqualification. Congratulations. Posting your splendid essay over there did that good. At got you a lot more sympathetic readers than I expected it would.

I have never been banned or even TO'd at TOP. I post for a while and then get disgusted and quit. Sometime heavy lurking has been enough to make me back away. Between occasions when I posted I usually forgot my password so I have used several names over there. Even though I could not read the hidden comments, the viciousness of the gangs and the favoritism quickly becomes obvious.
If the goal is really to elect more and better Dems, the hatefulness at TOP always makes me wonder why I ever bother to vote for Dems. Legitimate criticisms of the currently favored candidate are viciously suppressed. How can problems be solved it they are not acknowledged?
The rampant use of words like sexism and racism as generic insults destroys their true meaning and prevents acknowledgement and discussion of the actual devastation assorted -isms cause. We are unlikely to find solutions if it is no longer possible to discuss the problems. If Denise wants to know why Hillary lost she should go look in the mirror. I always stayed as far away from her and her gang as I could get. I say this as a physically handicapped female with minority ethnicity. It is never OK to attack others for the identities they were born with. Even a white guy deserves to be judged for the content of his character, not the color of his skin. Maybe I should post this at TOP so I can join the I-Got-Banned Club.

I have been looking for the place where some of you went after you were banned and/or quit in disgust. This place was mentioned in a rebuttal diary about Dallas docs last diary. Normally I would have lurked here longer before signing up, but I recognized some of your 'names'. I also read a few threads and was relieved at both the civility and the freedom to consider ideas without worrying that they could be considered anti-DNC.
The really interesting thing to me is that some people who are sometimes touchy or aggressive over there are much more mellow and polite here. (I am not talking about you, but you have probably noticed this about some people here.) I am still trying to figure out the mechanics that keep c99 civil without heavy-handed moderation.
I am mostly interested in working together to solve problems and would like to see cooperation between progressives whether they are Dem, Independent or Green.

I dunno, I've moderated several sites and rarely have to do anything at all except spam removal. They could do a much better job at DK (or I could, but I don't delude myself I'm somebody special) because they have the tools to do it (I've explained several times, publicly and privately). I think that for whatever reason, and I'm not a mind reader, that they're happy with the way things are.

There was a rec-listed diary written by someone who freaked out about sitting next to a Republican while Christmas shopping. Apparently, he is happy that he doesn't know any Republicans and never has to interact with them. It's not healthy to live in a bubble where your beliefs are never challenged. I teach my students that diversity is about a lot more than skin color and religion.
It used to be that you could post whatever you want as long as you didn't advocate voting against Democrats. Now you can't be too critical of Democrats. And you can't say anything that has also been repeated by a Republican. They just want to plug their fingers in their ears and pretend that everything that they don't like is about racism and sexism. They were robbed. They are victims. They are awesome. And everyone who disagrees is stupid.

to the churches. the government collected taxes from the citizens, which were then handed to the churches (based, i think, on the indicated faiths of the taxpayers). so the protestants attended protestant schools, the catholics attended catholic schools, and the jews attended jewish schools. (no idea how detailed the procedure went, as far as recognizing sects of protestantism or judaism, or even roman catholic versus eastern orthodox).
