CNN hosting Green Party townhall with Jill Stein August 17!

Woot! Can't wait for the US to hear Jill Stein's policies! And looking forward to hearing Ajamu Baraka!

(CNN) — CNN announced Wednesday it will host one of its town hall events with the Green Party's presumptive presidential nominee Jill Stein and her presumptive running mate, Ajamu Baraka.

The hour-long event will be held on Wednesday, August 17 at 9:00 p.m. ET. The event will broadcast live on CNN, CNN International, CNN en Espanol and online via CNNgo.

Stein has consistently polled as the fourth-most popular option in the presidential race, after Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump and Libertarian Gary Johnson. In the most recent CNN/ORC poll, Stein received 5% support nationwide, four points behind Johnson, her nearest competitor

Great news tonight! Wanted to get this out before maintenance downtime.

All Bernie Sanders supporters should tune in and listen.

They will then realize that there is a "Plan B" (after Sanders), and that this large voting block can bring Jill Stein up to parity with the two hated candidates, and Gary Johnson --- and then be included in the Fall Presidential Debates.

I bet Jill Stein is joyful about finally getting some TV Prime Time exposure, and having the chance to bring a Progressive Agenda into the public view.

...that if, as we all knew, Bernie was not nominated by the DNC, I would vote Jill Stein. And so my choice remains.

that the CNN folks have their hatchets sharpened and ready for this "hosting". Most likely, they will do everything possible to discredit the Green candidates and party supporters. As icing on the cake, there will probably be a pro-HRC twist and/or undercurrent throughout the show.

Our village and town are so small that we don't have a village idiot or a town drunk. Nope, we all take turns.

There is no other reason the Clinton News Network would give her exposure. Still, the old saying is "there's no such thing as bad publicity". Expect Google to register a surge of searches during the event for Stein. Republicans, Libertarians, and mainstream Democrats, particularly older ones, will just see the hatchet job, but they were never going to vote for her anyway. Young people, Bernie supporters, (do any of them watch CNN?), may finally hear her name, see her face, and get their information online. They are smart enough to recognize a hatchet job.
Overall, assuming Stein handles herself as well as can be expected, I think this will be a net positive. This will backfire against the Clinton campaign who are still running a 90s campaign where television is the only medium that matters.

isn't a perfect candidate. However, she is the best that I can see running at the moment.

Can't wait to see that.

I hear so many say they just don't know enough about Jill Stein or that she isn't a "perfect candidate". WTF??? We hear so many are bitching about there isn't any choice or the "lesser or two evils". More are just not even going to bother to "vote". Some, like me, no longer believe there even is an election.

And yet here's our chance. Jill Stein may not be perfect. The Greenies may not be perfect.

But Trump or Clinton?!?!?! We are willing to "vote" for one of those two?

I'll be watching.

Saw a wonderful home made sign outside a small house on my way home Tuesday. "Jill Stein! (Bill Clinton opted for the other woman, too)

We engineers have a saying that "the perfect is the enemy of the good". I'm happy to vote for someone good, for something good. Jill Stein is good. The rest of them are bad (if not downright evil.)

All politicians are human, and we do ourselves a disservice by expecting them to come down like some deus ex machina and solve our problems. At best they do a necessary job very well (motivation, representation, negotiation) but as the Zen proverb says, "If you meet the Buddha on the road, kill him."

a nonstop barrage of questions about why she feels that her socialist commie dictatorial ways are what americans should vote for, as opposed to righteous capitalistic justice. Also probably a few questions of why she's such a racist towards hillary. And maybe a question about why she wants to kill all the good muslims with ISIS.

I expect some questions about her stance on Israel, which Sanders has critiqued. Personally, it seems pretty reasonable to me (in the words of one of my Jewish friends, "Israel is a police state") but since Bernie claims this as a major disagreement between them and since she is trying to pick up his supporters, I'm sure this is one she had better be prepared for.

She seems to be fairly well prepared for most questions (provided she's actually allowed to answer them).
