BLM in Seattle, WA today.

          I just stumbled upon this:

2000 Seattle Teachers wear Black Lives Matter shirts to class
Teachers also wanted to show their support for John Muir Elementary, which had its “Black Men Uniting to Change the Narrative” event canceled last month after receiving a threat over teachers’ plans to wear Black Lives Matter shirts.

Last week some BLM supporters held a sit in at the corner of M Street and Wisconsin Ave in D.C., blocking all traffic on M Street and all pedestrian crossings, at 5 p.m. on a Friday night. Traffic was backed up over the Key bridge all through Rossyln. Epic clusterfuck. 99% of the people affected didn't even know why, so much for the goal of raising awareness. As if anyone driving through Georgetown on a Friday night hasn't heard of BLM. As if someone who was against it already would have their mind changed by fucked up traffic. As if someone who supports it needs to be inconvenienced into realizing they need to be proactive. /rant

So I'm thrilled to see these teachers do it the right way. What they've done did start a conversation under an atmosphere where people can have their minds changed.

Previous month's threats lead to an event being shut down. The response is to stage even bigger event(s) in multiple sites. This is teaching at its finest. Definitely a "Change the Narrative" moment.

Thx pricerip. Our most powerful allies are teachers and nurses. This was encouraging:

Another “Black Lives Matter At School” rally is planned for Wednesday evening at Washington Hall, where activists and artists, including Grammy-award winning singer-songwriter Kimya Dawson, will perform and speak about racial equity. Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Michael Bennett is also expected to attend.

A wiki link:

The story is at Truthout:.

My take on the issue is that in point of fact, BLM is taking about Native Americans having the highest per capita percentage for homicide by cops. I picked up the pre-addressed postcard that I mailed to Obama at a BLM protest. BLM fully supports the principle that American cops should immediately stop shooting down Native Americans for no reason.

I know for a certainty that BLM activists are at Standing Rock, ready to lay their life down for their Native Americans brothers in arms.

Here's the problem: if the media won't even report on the militarized attack on unarmed peaceful protesters participating in a prayer ceremony, how can anyone compel the media to speak truth to power about law enforcement killings of Native Americans?

To the best of my knowledge, the percentage of black killings officially protested by BLM that are caught on camera is well over 90%. Without cell phone videos made by witnesses, BLM would never have gotten off the ground. The tragic truth is that killings of Native Americans by cops are just not caught in cell phone videos.

If you can send Obama a postcard or letter

or put together one of those clever internet thingies to help out, your support would be genuinely appreciated:

I would hope all readers of this site would support this campaign. A full pardon, subsequent release, and proffered reparations are long overdue. Most of us have lost hope for justice at (any level) various levels. Restorative Justice includes some form of "helping those who have been wronged". Leonard Peltier has been wronged: He has been kept in prison because of who he is not because of what he has done. The original "trial" was, in my opinion, a sham meant to put certain people in their place.
