Issues. Isn't Democracy the Issue?

"Twas the night before Christmas
and all thru the land
the people were shopping
while their President was killing innocent children in other countries"

Regarding the "issues". Aren't all issues dependent on a single issue - democracy? And since we don't have democracy, shouldn't we try to get that first?

Quote: "The rebels will be our hope" (Chris Hedges)

No essay here, just reading and catching up with what was written the last couple of days. In this essay by Chris Hedges: Waiting for the Barbarians
Chris managed to post altogether 48 questions.

Is it mean to ask for 48 answers?

His last paragragh is what he sees coming for people like many in this environment.

"Fifty Million Americans took back their Country"

I came across this article tonight, "American Uprising, Everything is about to Change" on a site called "Truth Revolt". People here like to complain about the Democrats and Daily Kos, here's the other side of the coin.

Letter to a Friend

This essay is really just a slightly edited email reply I sent to an old friend I’ve known since grammar school. I’ll be 81 next month and he’s a year older so it isn’t as if we haven’t had time and experience enough to analyze what is going on in our lives, our country, our planet, and our minds. I’m afraid I just let my annoyance show, but I think it may just be time. The paragraphs between the asterisks are the pertinent part of an email he sent me.
