Kingfish

Album of the Week 3-28-26

Afternoon folks!

It's blues by the bucketload this week... Starting off we've got a fantastic live performance from B.B. King from 1964 when he was pretty much at the height of his playing. After that we've got a compilation of alternates and unreleased songs from Larry Williams, one of the great New Orleans r&b piano player/singers followed by some raucous live slide guitar blues from Hound Dog Taylor. Following all that is some blues rock Texas style from Toni Price and then an album from Kingfish, a band that features the Grateful Dead's Bob Weir. We finish up in the diversity department with a sampler from John Prine's record label that features a few songs from him followed by some other interesting artists.

Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend!

Album of the Week 2-21-26

Afternoon folks!

Well here's another batch of blues for you guys. Starting off we've got a compilation album of some of Chicago blues guitarist Buddy Guy's Chess recordings, great stuff, followed by a live recording of Buddy and his frequent partner, harmonica player Junior Wells - the album is about bootleg quality but worth a listen if Chicago blues is one of your things. Following those albums is one from Texas soul-blues singer Robert Ealey and then it's on to early Excello swamp-pop label recordings from harmonica player Jerry McCain. Some of the Jerry McCain videos may be missing because some awful German record company has decided that it would like to deny Americans their musical heritage of 60 year old recordings. After that there's a modern zydeco album from Nathan & The Zydeco Cha Chas. Finishing us off is a live album from the Grateful Dead's guitarist Bob Weir and one of his side projects, Kingfish.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the tunes!
