Something Old
It appears that America's neoliberal press has decided how to react to the rise of socialism and Jeremy Corbyn in Britian: BE AFRAID!
Politico:
OMG! Russia! OMG, France!
Just to give you an idea of how things have changed, here's an example of some headlines.
Earlier this week UK Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn gave a speech that was almost universally considered to be political suicide.
A new poll came out Friday that shocked the UK establishment. Labour is on the upswing.
When I posted this essay last week it looked like Jeremy Corbyn and Labour were headed to a pretty bad beating.
Since then, the polls have begun turning up for Labour.
On June 8, the UK will have a general election, and if the polls are accurate the leftist Labour Party is about to get destroyed by the conservative Tories.
Why is that?
A couple of days ago, I was discussing with some friends how would we describe the situation in the Labour Party; was it a movement, a revolution, how could we describe it? I am not comfortable with the term “revolution” as I think it plays into false usage of the term; it is a much misused term being used to describe almost any change that occurs.
Nothing can ruin a decent person's day faster than when a lowly commoner starts acting like he deserves to be treated as a human being. Such a bother!
