U.S. actions are a nightmare. Imprisoning Chelsea because she refuses to testify against Julian (who they have incarcerated and are torturing in the UK's Guantanamo like prison). Truth tellers must be stopped! Venezuela's U.S. puppet and pretend president must deliver all of that oil to our corporations and those of our vassal states. We ignore international law, yet again, and raid their embassy in DC. Israel and Saudi Arabia push us into a war with Iran....a guaranteed disaster in waiting. More children murdered this week in Yemen with U.S. assistance and bombs. More Palestinians murdered by Israelis as they protest their open air prison. We are a shameful nation bent on death and destruction for the profit of those who have more than they can possibly use. Killing one another isn't enough...the entire ecosystem is at risk to satiate our oil (and profit) addiction. It is a nightmare.

And yet, people still dream of a better future... and create new systems... and build new structures in harmony with the biosphere. People dream of a more equitable society and are discussing what a positive future might look like. Young people continue to pressure the politicians and elite to move toward a green future. Can they create a dream within the nightmares?

Russia-gate’s Monstrous Offspring

Americans used to think that Russia-gate was about a plot to hack the 2016 election. They were wrong. Russia-gate is really about an immense conspiracy to do four things:

No. 1: Ratchet up tensions with Russia to ever more dangerous levels;

No. 2: Show that Democrats are even more useless than people imagined;

Alabama has given us all a window into the mind of a modern Republican.
These are Republican values in 2019.

Soups of the world, unite!

Matt Taibbi's everywhere this month, especially over the past few days. As some reading this may remember (going back over a decade at "the other place"), I've been a huge fan of his for a long time. I was active in Boston political media, back in the early 80's, when his father, Mike, was a leading local newscaster there; and I met him (and worked countless times with his tv station's news staff) a few times, as well.

Yesterday afternoon Cal Fire announced it had determined the source of the fire. A power line on a PG&E transmission tower in the Pulga area broke free and slapped into the tower. Presumably the high winds whipped the wire into fire; a "flash mark" was observed on the tower, where the wire hit: in that "flash mark,” there be the fire. Meanwhile, near Concow and Rim roads, unspecified "vegetation"—we'll guess a tree, or trees—"made contact" with other power lines, sparking a second fire. That second fire was subsumed in the Pulga blaze, as it raced into Concow, Paradise, Magalia, the canyon, and wherever else it felt like going.

That's a real, shameless CNN headline from today.
All pretense of caring about the people of Venezuela is gone.

Who’s in charge  may depend on the issues at hand, of course: Bolton, Pompeo, Trump…and let’s not forget Bibi.  If you guess Deep State, I reckon I’m tired of passing the buck by now…I want Names, dammit!
