Not everything on election night was right-wing and reactionary.
Pot legalization is now mainstream.
This essay will be a conglomeration of links and info from the last week or so, since I've been away. Thank you to those who posted on NoDAPL in my absence. Let's start with a quote and image from LaDonna BraveBull Allard, one of the leaders, which puts the presidential election into some perspective.
The Democratic Party establishment got almost everything wrong.
The Democrats have been swept from power at every level.
Normally that should mean a housecleaning. Everyone should be fired.
The Democrats are already falling back into their totally non-self-reflective pattern of declaiming that they were betrayed and done in by sinister cultural forces and shenanigans. Not so. As the first parable I picked DiFi.
I've seen it before. The high school football coach who plays the inept son of the Boosters' Club president, leaving the team's best QB on the bench. "Midvale High? They're awful. 2-7. I'll let Third String Theo start and play the whole game. It'll be a laffer. Besides, the Boosters Club has made some very nice promises to me if I let Theo play."
Well at least the more I think about it the more I think we should at least lay claim to it and own it regardless of it's validity.
So yeah, in my opinion I say go ahead and own this one.
Let them shout, "You assholes cost Hillary the election!"
To which we should reply, "Yep! now maybe next time you will consider the left when selecting your candidate because while the left may not have the power to win alone, neither do you.
Will we be smart enough to recognize and seize the moment? We can follow three issues to the recapture of government, but we'll have to do it fast and we'll have to do it correctly and we'll have to vow not to be derailed by incrementalists and pragmatists and it'll-never-happen folks.
Running around screaming at the horror of a President Trump!
Running around screaming about the popular vote and how in fact Hillary won!
