One of the hottest discussions we are seeing is the one surrounding the universal basic income (UBI) or citizens’ income (CI); in Britain it has been advocated by the Trade Union Unite (it was adopted at the last convention), it has been incorporated into the Green Party of England and Wales’s manifesto for a sustainable economy, the Labour Par

FBI turning over Clinton interview notes to Congress

From The Hill:

Two sources told CNN that members of Congress will have access to notes taken during the FBI's interview with the Democratic presidential nominee over her use of a private email server while secretary of State.

The gender of the creator

I am anything but a Biblical scholar...but I have read the book. When one is an avid reader as a child, one reads whatever she can get her hands on. It was one of the texts in our small home library.

I have absolutely no knowledge of the languages in which the book was originally written. so I'm afraid I'm going to take Rabbi Mark Sameth's word for what what is contained in his essay which appeared in the New York Times on Thursday: Is God Transgender? While numbers vary from source to source — the Washington Post cites 975, while the Guardian puts the tally at 1,125 — the website killedbypolice.net found that police have killed 1,186 people in 2015 (the U.S. government currently does not track how many people are killed in police encounters

Thomas Frank on the Real Potential Disaster of 2016

Writing in The Guardian:

With Trump certain to lose, you can forget about a progressive Clinton

Subtitle: Come November, Clinton will have won her great victory – not as a champion of working people’s concerns, but as the greatest moderate of them all

Here's the point he reaches:

Clinton will not be a realignment Presidency: Corey Robin

Here at c99% I've been arguing that realignment is in the cards, and that the main hindrance to a real realignment, one that helps us, is the nice liberals' attachment to Clinton. (The likely outcome in this regard, I argued, was a uniparty, in which the Republicans vote to get what they want and the Democrats vote out of fear.)
