Slight detour ... to listen to one of my favorite voices.

Beau of the Fifth Column

A fifth column is any group of people who undermine a larger group from within, usually in favor of an enemy group or nation. The activities of a fifth column can be overt or clandestine. Forces gathered in secret can mobilize openly to assist an external attack.

Fifth column, clandestine group or faction of subversive agents who attempt to undermine a nation’s solidarity by any means at their disposal. The term is conventionally credited to Emilio Mola Vidal, a Nationalist general during the Spanish Civil War (1936–39). As four of his army columns moved on Madrid, the general referred to his militant supporters within the capital as his “fifth column,” intent on undermining the loyalist government from within.

A cardinal technique of the fifth column is the infiltration of sympathizers into the entire fabric of the nation under attack and, particularly, into positions of policy decision and national defense. From such key posts, fifth-column activists exploit the fears of a people by spreading rumours and misinformation, as well as by employing the more standard techniques of espionage and sabotage.

Morning philly et al. Slowly the veil is lifting, being spun out by the web masters into something it is not. For our safe consumption. The info managers are quite secure in the belief that the truth will not set us free. Lies and half truths with keep us bonded to the illusion of truth, freedom and justice.

the link about record-setting turnout and mandates seems to be missing.

Great stuff! Thanks very much for these links. No PMC posturing, virtue-signalling, symbol-manipulating pseudo-liberal elitism here — this is the “salt of the earth” talking.

For what it’s worth, I think the election probably is being rigged by Democratic party controlled urban political machines and their friends in the media and Big Tech. Whether this is just par for the course, something that actually always happens nowadays (especially in Democratic primaries) but is especially in the spotlight this year because of Covid-19, mail-ins, the razor’s-edge margins, and Orange Bad Man Trump, and whether such cheating is a good and morally justified thing anyway because “stopping fascism,” are questions about which, naturally, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I really like Beau. That video about "tone", and I'm like 440mhz yeah buddy! (musician's understand...) Crazy

In the way that Thomas Paine used "simple facts and reason", Beau fits that mold.

Very busy day here, so I just now got to and through the Tennessee Storm Troopers' training manual show. Hence, my comments pertain only to it and the material preceding it, and actually not to it because it is right on the money.

I understand what he is saying and/or trying to say, but have a couple of quibbles. He keeps saying "it isn't politics ... ", but it is. It might not be party politics or electoral politics, but it is politics in the classical sense, human interaction and group decision making processes are politics.

He speaks at one point of his decision not to completely follow his heroes' practice insofar as he doesn't try to speak to the religious, which they did. He also notes, approvingly, their ability to convey things in simple everyday language, which he consciously emulates. They could speak simply and simplistically, just as he can, because they and he do speak to the religious. Morality, morality, morality. That is a religiously laden word. Whose morality, and from whence sourced? The moral majority(tm)? Moral Mondays?

In the USA, "morality", from inception, has meant a set of strictures handed down by the religious sect of one's choosing with some extra hooks. Those hooks generally don't come, as he notes, from philosophers and philosophy, but are a nod to the existence of quasi-secular "Law and order". We have those who find supporting or condoning a woman's right to choose, or the use of contraceptives, or sex out of wedlock, including those married by or into the wrong sect, or homosexuality, to be unspeakably immoral. Regardless of any embedded hypocrisy, those folks largely found the Joe and Kammie show far too immoral to accept. And hey, those folks crossing the border illegally are breaking the laws, they are criminals and hence behaving immorally, for which we have societally established bi-partisan solutions, remedies and punishments. Their lawlessness is on them, and the remedies are not Trump's doing per se, so where's the outrage? NB: Nothing is salvaged by selective bible or Jesus quotes, there are plenty of others to override them.

That is the problem with relying upon such a vague and generally religion laden word as morality. That's why a lot of folks avoid such language. Sadly, reason and logic based standards, such as Kant's Categorical Imperative are beyond the reach of the common everyday parlance which is the vernacular of choice, so, while we may agree with both the speaker and his personal morality, it isn't a lock and there are plenty of things on the Biden-Harris or Democratic Party plate for Trumpes and GOP stalwarts to decry as beyond the pale immoral, so perhaps the first national conversation and education needs to be on what can we establish as an objective morality, and possibly on building an impenetrable barrier between any and all superstitions and governance.

be well and have a good one.

That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --
