Hey! Good Evening!
This evening's music features New Orleans jazz singer Louisa "Blue Lu" Barker. Enjoy!

Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.

sadly, it is not to be this time. i'd love to meet you, but my itinerary is pretty tightly packed to get a lot of things scratched off of my bucket list and visit some relatives that need visiting in the all too brief time that i could shake myself loose from my usual commitments.
i do hope to travel this way again, though i don't know how soon i will be able to shake loose again.
Regarding Mesa Verde:
Picture #1 - looking NW - the escarpment reaches 8572" and the valley floor is approx 6000'. The mtns in the distance are the LaSalles 80 miles away in Utah
#2Wilson Peak - 14,000' plus and a toughish climb
#3 the flat area beneath the cliff is the remains of the old Knife Edge road which was the original park road - it's a trail now. The trees up against the highest elevation are some of the oldest known Pinyon Pines - 800 years and older
#4 I think this is Spruce Tree House
#5 Cliff Palace - over 200 rooms and the largest cliff dwelling - the way to the top is by steps hewn out of the rock and keyed so that if you start on the wrong foot you are stymied halfway up and can go no farther - Tourists have nice steel stairs
#6 & #7 are restored kivas at Cliff Palace
Wonderful photos - Thanks.

I'd like a do-over on Wilson Peak
Looking more closely I think it's the La Plata Mountains with 12,000+ Hesperus Peak the tallest. There are some nice beaver ponds up around the 9000' level

i believe that you are right on all counts, without looking back at my notes. thanks!
You are welcome - I enjoyed the photos
I lived in Montezuma county for quite a number of years - it's a beautiful area.

Wow!!! Thanks for those gorgeous photos, Joe! Hey, we miss
you, but it's also fun to be the beneficiary of your travels. Just kidding! We'd rather see you come back. But, seriously, I've enjoyed seeing shots of your travels.
Actually, it's sorta a dreary day for news, so I haven't even checked my Twitter feeds--not going to punish myself. And, finally, after hours of satellite radio--we had to even turn it off.
For most the rest of the evening, we're going to look for a distraction from politics. (blogging excepted, of course)
After a period of recuperation, I may tackle posting on both WJC's and FSC's policies. I won't be able to vote Green Party or Stein to stop her, but I can let folks know how toxic her (and his) policies are/were.
Guess I'll listen to Warren, in a few minutes. That's one good think about this fiasco--more than a few politicians are showing their true colors. I haven't trust her since Reid appointed her to a newly created (for her) Dem Party leadership post in 2014. (following the shellacking in the midterms)
BTW, 'O' taped his endorsement video on Tuesday, so it appears that the outcome of today's meeting was pretty much known in advance (by PBO).
I can't wait until the Dem Party Establishment realizes that many of Bernie's supporters are 'not' going to get on their neoliberal bandwagon.
They are SO insulting, speaking boldly and openly on Cable News about 'how' they plan to appease us.
Whew!
BTW, thanks for another excellent Photo and Tunes Essay.

wow, i'm not missing the talking heads chatter about how we're all going to fall in line behind hillary because trump is the unthinkable bogeyman.
i guess i'll catch up when i've got more reliable connections to the internet.

Great to see you're having a good vacation. The ancient ones have much to teach us if we would listen.
Loved the music tonight also. We'll look forward to your news analysis in the future and wish you the best in your travels to powerful places. Here's a shot a buddy sent me of the cliff palace from last Christmas:
Glad you're having a good vacation you deserve it!

it is an amazing place. i visited escalante and bryce today - just amazing country. i'm totally pooped now from hiking mostly uphill to see a petrified forest today.
nice shot of the cliff palace!
Good evening Joe S and everyone
Another great blog about two things I love, great music and excellent photos of the desert. They both bring back memories of beautiful places I have traveled. Thank you
