Clintonists Tell Leftists to Fall in Line Behind Kamala Harris
"Since speculation arose that Sen. Kamala Harris is preparing to run for president, Hillary Clinton’s supporters have defended her using a strategy that was developed during the 2016 Democratic primaries against Sen. Bernie Sanders. This strategy revolves around the Bernie Bros narrative, which propagates the myth that Sanders supporters are sexist, racist white males. The fact that many of progressives’ criticisms, policies and grassroots efforts have been led and founded by women and people of color are, of course, ignored." [more]
The Clinton liberals have anointed black Hillary this primary season just like they anointed white Hillary in 2016. She checks all the boxes: black, female, Clintonista, loved by Wall Street and the big money funders.
Twitter is attacking Tulsi and Berniebros as fast as their gold-laden fingers can keyboard, and the media is falling in line.

The Dems are emboldened because Trump is so hated, and they misread the 2018 blue wave just like we knew they would.
Democratic donors still think they can anoint rising stars in the Hamptons
Harris met with some of Hillary Clinton’s beloved megadonors this past weekend. Reportedly, they were all smitten. She has been a hero of the MSNBC set since she sparred with Republican senators during intelligence committee hearings involving testimony from the attorney general, Jeff Sessions, and his deputy, Rod Rosenstein.
So, STFU voters and do as the MSNBC fans demand. Vote for the lesser of evil one more time because Trump, and it worked so well last time, and the time before that, and the time before...

At the present time
I'll voting for Kamala Harris for "Lessor Evil of the Century".
How's that for history making?
Can't I support Biden instead?
He's been approved by the neoliberal corporate establishment. Isn't that enough?
Sure, he's perfect and right in tune.

How often in your life . . .
. . . has falling in line ever led to anything good? I don't mean just a single instant. All instances where you were instructed to fall in line. How did the outcomes go? Do the percentages.
Then look more broadly: When did falling in line ever lead to anything good for society?

Elizabeth Warren 18 22
Joe Biden 13 14
Bernie Sanders 12 11
Beto O’Rourke 8 15

Markos is such an ass.
So how did they go from Liz Warren to Harris in one week unless the straw poll is gamed as well as useless? It sure didn't take that bunch of MSNBC assholes long to get their marching orders and talking points. I can't tell you how glad I am not to be there. They couldn't pay me enough to put up with them.

Democrats are the party of the woke?
What did they wake up to, exactly? More Clintonistas?
Trump is awful enough that the Democratic nominee just might win.
Posters on the message board where I used to post--the one owned and run by the husband of a Clinton staffer--have been pushing Harris for a long time. So, none of this is a surprise. Still my heart feels leaden while my mind says, "Of course."
In my book,
anyone who claims to be "woke" really means dumb and mesmerized. I am sick to death of the tribalism on the left. A pink pussy hat might as well be a red MAGA hat. Not only do I disavow and disassociate from Democrats, I now do the same with liberals. If you are female or a native American rapper, you must be believed and revered. If you are a white male and god forbid in a red MAGA hat, these same so-called liberals are screaming for doxing and lynching in the public square.

Pink pussyhats: The reason feminists are ditching them
...
SMH.
Jesus, have any of them ever SEEN a vagina?
Prepare for egregious mansplaining:
Just to clear it up for you: ALL healthy vaginas are pink -- a very bright pink in fact. By contrast, FEW vulvas are actually pink. The distal ridges (i.e., most visible part) of the labia minora of even Caucasian women tend much more towards reddish brown than pink; some are rather purplish. (And of course, they actually change color under different conditions -- such as sexual arousal and pregnancy.)
If folks want to argue about whether the "pussy" is exclusively the inside or the outside, I guess they're free to do that -- the word has been a bit anachronistic in the age of the brazilian wax, but my efforts to popularize "naked mole rat" as a replacement have been in vain.
What next? Will they demand that streaming services banish the movie Untamed Heart, in which Christian Slater's character offers Marisa Tomei's character this endearment, at the close of telephone call: "Love and kisses on all your pink parts," given that, with her Mediterranean ancestry, the only easily kissable pink parts Marisa Tomei likely has are ones that she has painted that color?

I do not think I am a reactionary person.
I'm totally behind the idea that bandaids should be made in different hues, and that little doll babies should be made in various shades, and that the pinkish-peachy crayon in the Crayola box shouldn't be labeled "flesh" (Well, that was always icky anyway, but I could see them having a crayon called "pink skin", and one called "olive skin", and so on), and that algorithms that automatically enhance photos of humans should work for africans as well as for scandinavians.
Broadly employed cultural artifacts that presume the non-existence of anyone not of the majority (or eventually, plurality) class in any broad category are a real affront to all the people not in that class, an affront that has real psychological consequences, especially for children, who of course become adults eventually, unless of course they die of dehydration in American concentration camps, or in a pink mist induced by an American drone.
But what is even more bizarre, and probably more damaging overall, is to insist on various cultural accommodations that pretend that the majority class is the one that doesn't exist. How is anyone supposed to think straight, when the language itself is not allowed to represent anything approximating reality? It's pure 1984. "Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia! Womanhood has never been associated with vaginas!"
Sigh
OMFG - no wonder MAGA people call them snowflakes

I mean ... ARRGHGGHGHGGGH.
Will the same people start plasto-shaming those transwomen whose apparently false feminine consciousness motivates them to undergo surgery so as to create simulacra of female genitalia? Or is this going to be another one of those deals where epistemology is rendered, by dogma, relativistic with respect to inclusion or exclusion from Specially Endowed Classes of H. Sapiens? "She gets to believe that female genitalia are fundamental to her identity (because she was born without them), but she is NOT allowed to believe that female genitalia are important to her identity (because she was born with them), and he is allowed to believe that female genitalia are fundamental to identity because he was born with them, but he is not allowed to believe female genitalia are fundamental to identity, because he was born without them!"
What the fuck are we supposed to do about the 90% (random made-up statistic) of all the women in the world whose identity is inextricably linked to the reproductive anatomy with which they were born? Just dismiss their consciousness because it cannot be shared by the 9% (random made-up statistic) of women who, though born with female reproductive anatomy either did not have the opportunity, or did not have the inclination, or attempted but failed to employ all of its physiological functions; nor shared by the 1% (random made-up statistic) of women who were not born with female reproductive anatomy at all?
This is madness.

Today's version of feminism
leaves a bad taste in my mouth for women. In my day, it was about strength, independence, being as smart and as capable as any man. I see the current version of feminism as touchy feely, resentful, vengeful as any man, and all about victimhood.
I may be breaking tribal taboos by saying this, but it is what I think. I am done avoiding tribal politics.
"Religion is what keeps the poor from murdering the rich."--Napoleon

My opinion slightly differs
Which strikes me as incredibly ironic, given that feminism was supposed to have been about (among other things) a woman's right to individual agency, independence, and decision-making. Yet somehow, when I exercise my individual agency to reject female candidates whom I feel do not represent my, or others', best interests, I'm betraying my gender.
(This gets funnier, in a pathetic way, when you consider the blatant hypocrisy among this particular crowd of "feminists," as snoopydawg has given many examples of. When I chose to support Jill Stein over HER, that was also apparently misogynistic because I'm only allowed to support the "correct" woman).
So, instead of "touchy-feely," I see it as elitist and judgmental. But I do think we both agree that it's not doing women any favors.

It's really quite a repeat of the same damn tactics...
...Moulitsas implemented in 2014-2015; right up to, and including, Denise Oliver Velez putting all the bullshit down in a few diaries. In fact, I'll go as far as to say, she almost directly copied some of the content from her now-famous, initial "Hillary" piece, about 5 years ago.
So, they get an "F" for creativity. Same shit, different day. Rinse. Repeat. Truly pathetic.
And, truth be told, so far, Harris has significant problems, in terms of her political history; but, I don't feel nearly as bad about her as I felt about Clinton, around the same time, 5 years ago.
Unfortunately, the upcoming 2020 primary season has California scheduled as one of the "early" (scheduled primary) states. The upside here is that a LOT can happen between now and then.
The overall sentiment from me is that DKos' early bullshit, right now, is a virtual rubber stamp of their "captured" behavior in the last Presidential election cycle. And, upthread, all comments about DKos regarding their real agenda--which is to capitalize on their income opportunities from the Party's status quo via email/mail list sales, and substantial portions of Party donor revenues that make their way, at first, directly through Moulitsas' pockets, so he gets his tithe--are extremely accurate, in this regard.
So, how about a campaign--one the circumvents DKos, entirely--to insure that intended recipients of said campaign funds, as well as all of those truly Progressive candidates that aren't even supported by that neoliberal excuse for a CLOSED TENT, a/k/a Daily Kos, receive ALL the money to which they're supposedly entitled/receiving, bypassing the right-of-Democratic-center donation superhighway known as DKos, altogether?
"Where the press is free, and every man able to read, all is safe." --Thomas Jefferson
Back then it was difficult for me to understand
how that worked:
I am all for it. Circumventing. Bypassing. Let 'em do what they can't help doing - alone. No need to follow or fall in line.
Denise I got. It was just some little word she said and it was not noticed by many as a real mean and disgusting statement: She said Joe's EBs are "Dreck". I would say that was real a "Scheiß"-comment (auf gut Deutsch) by her and showed her true colors and blinders. That was the trigger for me to walk away from there. I actually started reading there in 2004. I found Dailykos because I needed something where at least some people talked about the Iraq war in what seemed in "earnest, critical and fact-based honest terms". I had my son over in Iraq in 2003 and couldn't believe why a war was directed against Iraq. So, I was shocked and awed to see my son in the middle of shock and awe on TV. Took me long to understand that even that anti-Iraq war attitude on dailykos was not consistent.
I know I have the most difficulties to get sarcasm lingo whenever it is used. I feel insecure then and doubt my own inner (silent) "arguments". Today I sometimes can't read an essay to the end, especially when the content is more or less repetitive. I guess it's just being sick and tired of all of it.
I always appreciate clear language, more boring, but easier to understand (for me).

So, thanks for the way you express yourself.

There's just too much of her crap on the record for her to
pull this off. Here's another example:

Sure. Let's just put anyone in office who isn't Trump. Damn whatever their policies are or who they stand with.

Here's her declaration email.
Lots of tuff love during her career ehh? She seems to have held banks accountable as well as Obama did.

Got two words for the Clintonistas
The second one is "you".
You know the first one.

Why not go the Full Macron, and hold it at Versailles?

I was thinking the same thing
Maybe if we're lucky, for pure entertainment value, Harris will recruit some of Hillary's tone deaf campaign managers.

FTLOG, SOMEONE HELP ME.
I can't take it anymore. I have no mouth, and I must scream. My life has been DESTROYED by ever-increasing, never-abating feelings of POWERLESSNESS since 200-andGODDAMN-3!!!
THIS SHIT is...beyondbeyondbeyondbeyond the pale.
FFS, SOMEBODY HELP ME. No snark, no sarcasm, just GIVE ME A RATIONAL REASON NOT TO WORRY ABOUT THIS.
I spent 12 GODDAMNED YEARS struggling, after hearing the outcome of the 2004 sElection took me from genius to worthless in a literal moment, like Anakin/Vader clawing his way up the volcanic slope at the end of Ep. III, to get my degree in what consisted mostly of social studies...all for the entire country to decide it was all WORTHLESS.
I COULD elaborate. I COULD say more that makes that all sound even WORSE.
“Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark....Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists.” ― Ayn Rand
Don't feel bad
I got my degree in History.

How is that supposed to help?

so, with no snark at all, what exactly is the "THIS"
to which you refer?
this article seems to have blown a lot of people's gaskets around here, even though of course we all knew it was coming.
Sigh
BTW, I'm mainly hanging around in this thread
throwing wisecracks around because I can't bear to drop in to the Venezuelan Coup thread and discover whatever horrors might lurk therein.
Sigh
so how did you feel when Fukushima [EDIT: FukuYAMA]
announced the end of history?
in retrospect, it's up there with Twain's famous, "Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated." one wonders, per Churchill, was it perhaps only the end of the beginning? do you ever start to feel like we're living in a Terry Gilliam movie? Some crazy mashup of Brazil, and Twelve Monkeys, and The Fisher King, and The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassis? (With maybe a bit of Munchausen and Time Bandits thrown in just to give a little bit of child-like joy to the proceedings?)
BTW, I also have a history degree. Its primary utility seems to be, it gives me many opportunities to astonish people who have no fucking clue about what has come before.
Sigh
Pythonesque is pretty damn close
But instead of the Institute of Silly Walks, we have the Institute of Batshit Crazy Tweets. (You were talking about our government right?)
As for the benefits of having a History degree...I think it would be a lot of fun to parlay people's ignorance into skits, where I would go around town with a microphone and ask people about historical events, and the craziest version gets played out in drag on video.

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying
Or what is an appropriate response. I was not trying to make any point in my reply to UntimelyRipp'd. I was just being silly.

I don't bother to cite my education.
I just tell people things that nobody's ever bothered to tell them before. Often, just odd little tidbits, like the fact that the Boston Tea Party was in response to a new policy that was going to lower the price of tea in the American colonies. They choose to disbelieve me at their epistemological peril.
Did you know that Canada won the war of 1812? It's true, just ask any Canadian. I have a trophy on my shelf, given to me one Christmas by a thoughtful Canadian friend. It was some sort of shooting sports trophy that he'd acquired in an entire box full of trophies that he bought at an auction. He'd had a new nameplate made for it, which reads, "Battle of Chateauguay, 1813. Second Place." I treasure it.
Sigh
It was the strings on the tea policy that pissed people off
though by that point almost anything was going to piss 'em off - the tensions had been building up for too long. The price was to be lowered BUT the tea tax remained in effect. Parliament thought it was a deal the Colonists couldn't resist - and they were wrong.
As to Canada winning the War of 1812 - true, in a sense. They did repel the invading US'ns forcefully (second or third attempt since 1775, IIRC). But the Brits had the final say, and they just wanted the sideshow to end so they could concentrate on smashing Napoleon - so they wrote up a status-quo peace treaty and called it good. It was only due to the slowness of communications in 1815 that there even was another battle - which, naturally, is the only one most American even know about (New Orleans).
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
Funny you should mention Fukushima...
I've lived my whole life on the periphery of the scientific community, so I never knew, before then, that activists didn't always know what they were talking about since, before then, I'd always seen it aligned with the science. People who knew more about engineering than I do set the record straight, and...well, like I said, that was the day I learned that "blue-team activist =/= reliable source".

Francis Fukuyama, but I screwed it up. Nice that my mistake brought forth your recollection, though.

It seems like the only surefire way to prove you deserve to win is to be the bigger, better person and...surrender....
The question "how do you win an argument with a moron" now seems to DEMAND an answer.
If reason doesn't work, then what alternative is there but violence?
Why was it "Occupy Wall St.", yet, in the heart of a city that's supposed to be a sterling jewel of deep blue, why has there NEVER been a "Wall St. Massacre"?

I think that's what we should call her from now on
Yes hawkfish it's going to be a long two years. I like to imagine all the money that's blown on elections going to a good cause instead. Billions just to put someone into the presidency when the results are pretty well rigged in the first place. I'm still wondering why they let the election results stand. Did you know that there were people who wanted the electors to vote for someone besides Trump? Colin Powell came in 3rd place even though he didn't run.

"high-information Democratic activists?"
High-confirmation Democratic automatons maybe. But crediting them with reliable information or critical thinking skills is a monstrous stretch.
