Open Thread FR 9 JUN 23 ~ healing thoughts

~

Have you ever awoken in the middle of the night
and wondered what can be done to make things right?
Well, I have. And it is a difficult deliberation.

~
~

To think there are alternatives to silent suffering is liberating, in a sense.
Reaching out to help others is one starting point. Sharing a possible hope
is not harmful, in the bigger scheme of things.

~

This is one of those moments in our lifetimes to make a difference
and create an atmosphere of change for the better. Embrace our
inner healer to get beyond the 'stuck like glue' attitude. It is within
most of us to surprise the world with a novel approach. Even on just
an interpersonal level. I does make a difference, if you know what I mean.

Giving something away to the lost seekers is not harmful either.
it may create a condition where we can build on a better present
and future. Have you a good remedy to share with us potential alliies?
now its the time, imho

Any ideas as to how we climb up together to create a positive alternative?

Please share, thanks.

of nourishing life lives strongly here. It’s guided by so much more than just ‘don’t be a dick’.

You Q, have aways been a strong supporter of community and kindness. I think that’s the best place to start.

The music you posted is reminiscent of a George Winston mood. Here's more moody piano ...

I think music in itself is healing. It's an explosive expression of humanity. It's something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we're from, everyone loves music.

-- Billy Joel

For me, singing sad songs often has a way of healing a situation. It gets the hurt out in the open into the light, out of the darkness.

-- Reba McEntire

The art of healing comes from nature, not from the physician. Therefore the physician must start from nature, with an open mind.

I'm a believer in positive thinking...not delusional thinking, but being positive about yourself, nature, friends, family, and so on. I use nature as a buffer to the challenges and let the forest soak up the doubts and worries. I guess I've been forest bathing since I was a kid and not knowing the term, or that that is even a thing.

This morning I cleaned up from the soffit job this week and put away all the left over lumber in the barn. Got all the house plants back outside just under the new soffit job. Mowed and weedeated a bit. Currently watering the garden. I use sprinkler hoses in each bed with quick connect valves. Finished with the tomatoes and moved over to a bed of sweet potatoes.

Hope you're all having healing thoughts! Thanks for the OT!

We all need a little dissonance that resolves into a comforting, healing consonance. A respite, if you will...

@humphrey of today's Simplicius the Thinker post involve 1) an update of the Western line on Ukraine:

Hilarious new Atlantic headline which further shows how far Western media have fallen from their earlier narrative goals. They no longer see Ukraine winning at all and are in fact slowly conditioning their demented readers towards the inevitable eventuality of Ukraine simply pushing for a desperate ceasefire:

I looked it up -- the piece is here. I have this distant memory of The Atlantic being worth reading. I also remember when rents were cheap, wages were reasonable, educational subsidies were generous, and nobody worried about medical bankruptcies.

And then 2) there was this curious note, about two thirds of the way down:

In the last report I had mentioned how there were already mutinies from refusenik units which posted videos rising up against their command who sent them ‘to the slaughter’. Also, there were already reports of intercepted communications from the AFU where groups given the command to attack in yesterday’s offensive in fact refused to attack.

Mutinies!

SOARING COST OF MQ-9 REAPER EXPLORED AS RUSSIAN JET DOWNS US DRONE
Danial Munro 14 March 23

As of March 2021, the US Air Force has stated that the unit cost of an MQ-9 Reaper is $56.5 million, for a package that includes “four aircraft with sensors, ground control station and Predator Primary satellite link”.

Unsurprisingly, given the aircraft’s speed and frighteningly quick firing rate, the cost of an MQ-9 Reaper would put a dent in the military budget of any nation.

https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2023/03/14/soaring-cost-of-mq-9-reaper-explor...

Those relatively slow moving drones with long loitering time are well suited for the war on terror against poorly armed enemies with no conventional air defense assets. They are too expensive to really be considered expendable assets. A conventional enemy with fighter aircraft or surface to air missiles would make short work of these overpriced war video toys in a head to head conflict. Sure, they are good for maritime surveillance, until an actual conflict begins.

China is seeking to penalize South Korea for (thoughtlessly) going all in on the anti-China alliance. One key element of this is linking to the so called tri-lateral alliance with the US and Japan, aimed at China. So how is linking Taiwan, which is a part of China, to the US and Japanese militaries in tactical networks designed to operate against China, not a provocation? The US taxpayer no doubt will pay Taiwan's bill for the expense of this dubious weapons system.

Gallo is a paid propagandist for the US, I used his tweet for the link with the picture to the FT article.
