I've not been to Carolina (N or S) in quite a while. When I was in the band we were there several times a year. More of a homebody these days...enjoying our forest and small mountain.
But we're not far from the Blueridge...

Enjoy your Carolina state of mind. Thanks for the OT!

izzat the membership contact spreadsheet?

We went to the Carolinas briefly last summer, a first for my wife and a first since my teens for moi. It was interesting, vaguely informative/educational, somewhat entertaining and overall pretty cool despite being the beginning days or leading edge of the 9 month flare from hell that wrecked the rest of the year and more. OTOH, said flare resulted in different and seriously improved treatment, so all for the good I guess.

Love the forest Orcas. Not sure who or what is keeping "it" moving nor what "it" may be, though ideas and suspicions abound, perhaps assisted by the fact that so much of our constabulary comes in black and white.

As the year slouches toward the solstice, the remaining time allotted to complete numerous real and artificial annual tasks seems to diminish almost exponentially, even though that cannot truly be the case, so I guess I'd best be off.

be well and have a good one

The president of Peru, Pedro Castillo, has just declared the temporary dissolution of congress and has established a national emergency government. This comes just hours before congress was set to debate a motion for a legislative coup to remove President Castillo, a move that right-wing forces within congress have been attempting for months.

International reaction was at times outpaced by events.

United States Amb. Lisa Kenna called on Castillo via Twitter to reverse his decree to dissolve Congress, saying the U.S. government rejected any “extra-constitutional” actions by the president to interfere with Congress.

A short time later the Congress voted to remove Castillo.

Mexico Foreign Affairs Secretary Marcelo Ebrard said via Twitter that given recent events in Peru, Mexico had decided to postpone the Pacific Alliance summit scheduled for Dec. 14 in Lima. He said he regretted the recent developments and called for democracy and human rights to be respected.

Chile and Spain also took a neutral stance. The administration of Chilean President Gabriel Boric lamented the political situation in Peru and trusted that the crisis would be resolved through democratic mechanisms.

I must yield to TLOYL's expertise. However, I think that "cretin" should be reserved for very special and uniquely deserving cases, like "windshield spit washer" or "telephone solicitor", just the same...

And thanks for the kind thoughts! If this one works like the last one, I'll be dancing a jig by St. Patty's Day.

in the mid '80s that did a great power-pogo-punk cover of that song, and it freakin' *killed*. Death In The Shopping Malls, I think it was, or maybe FIIK. I slept since then, and details are very sketchy in any case. Anyhow, I bounced off the walls several times to that one...

Love those mountain folk.
Last time I went through the Carolinas was in late 90s on my Harley. Stumbled upon an ABATE run and just had to stop for the night. Whew! What a party.
Hit the road the next morning all bleary eyed and hung over.
Felt much better after 20 miles or so.
Thanks to everybody for the great tunes.
