Andrew Yang Demexits!!

https://nypost.com/2021/09/09/andrew-yang-no-longer-a-democrat-will-laun...

How Approppriate.

Yang was my choice for NYC Mayor but I stopped covering the campaign well before Election Day because his manipulated failure was insured by the Dems and blatantly obvious.

Andrew Yang is No Bernie.

He will not hang around where he's been told he is not wanted by Party Leadership and that they will make certain that he cannot win as a Democrat.

Let's see what happens next!

I can't share your enthusiasm. Yang is a capable, likeable guy who has some good ideas. Does that qualify him for high office? We already saw what "run govt. like a business" does to us.

If he wants a political career, I would like to see him run for something he can win and do some grunge work for a few years.

Right on schedule, someone comes up with a feel good New Party to vacuum up disaffected progressives.

I would be very interested to learn whom it is who is backing him.

It's clear what the Democrats are.

It's hard to imagine anyone who truly holds the humanitarian values of the left participating in the Democratic Party.

@Pluto's Republic but I can't consider that a reason to vote for somebody, although lack thereof is a reason to vote against.

Some things are simply minimal requirements, like reading and writing, basic competence and so on. I, as a voter, need to see more.

@ggersh
He is already a prisoner. With competent lawyers if can't win his freedom he can at least stir the public. Outside of political junkies who knows about Assange? And since is is a prisoner already, what does he have to lose? Better to jump for the brass ring.

I've seen lots of changes. What doesn't change is people. Same old hairless apes.

@ggersh is not generally reliable. Since we see the world thru similar lenses, I hope you can separate what the (D) Party and its loyal trolls say about Yang from the facts about him.

He is not perfect. On Israel, certainly. All schools religious or secular need to provide a basic level of skills to their students. Yang has defended religious schools in Brooklyn, who need regulation.

OTOH, a favorite slur was that he fled from NYC during the pandemic. Part of his flight was the 6 weeks he and his family spent (successfully) in Georgia campaigning in their Asian community for Biden Ossof and Warnock. The ASian minority, about 5% of Georgia's voters turned up to vote and may very well have made the difference.

The abominable sociopath who won the (D) nomination, meanwhile, lives in Ft. Lee, NJ. This frightening ex-cop 30 years, ending up as Captain in the NYPD, ex (R) talks about himself in the third person. Agent Orange redux.

(D) trolls who are OK with this guy must not have noticed that he's gloated about destroying the Socialists and Progressives. Even before he is in office! Or else that's how they feel about most of us at c99.

@NYCVG have a website yet? How about a platform? Or are us peons not supposed to know what it stands for.

Is your thread about Yang, his proposed new party or rehashing the NYC mayoral primary? For the record, I don't know for whom I would have voted, had I lived in NYC. Not for an MSNBC whore, I can tell you that much.

This news about Yang's Demexit is interesting, but I kind of need to see details, not slogans.

@NYCVG Maybe Yang was better than the Ex-cop but that doesn't mean much in today's politics.

Also Camp whom I trust, is just saying Yang while outside of the D party, is still a D party tool.

@ggersh .

After exiting, do you mean the (D) Party will still use him in some way? I guess i can see that. a punching bag for example. Or a dart board.

Camp's list makes little sense to me.

The specifics Yang ran on here were charging RE interests who warehouse empty lots, stores, office spaces and condos, in an effort to open up more affordable housing. Definitely not a Democratic Party goal. Opposing Real Estate???? never.

Yang, whose kids go to public schools and whose wife is an active PTA member, championed parents rights and interests over the Teachers Union. Definitely not a Democratic Party ideal.

Yang voted for Cynthia Nixon not Andrew Cuomo. no explanation needed here.

His senior staff members, who I met with, came from Bernie's campaign. Definitely not a Democratic Party choice.

My point is that anybody's list is bound not to be the entire picture. And may say more about the list maker than the candidate.

@Battle of Blair Mountain ...were I not so concerned that the nascent People's Party is already watering itself down.

I could be (and certainly hope I am) wrong, but I worry it's pursuing the "Pokemon/Facebook" strategy of victory through quantity, NOT QUALITY, and that is simply bad values. It's the bean-counting mediocritarianism that got us here in the first place.

The People's Party needs to decide on its values and a NON-HOLISTIC agenda (we've tried holistic activism, it's been a bitterly Pythonesque catastrophe), and let the chips fall where they may - there is no such thing as an all-inclusive group.

Societies have values. This is not a matter of opinion or morality. Asking for a society without values is like asking for a water molecule without hydrogen atoms. Values means winners and losers - so this whole new crusade against "gatekeeping" and for "equality of outcomes" has got to be not just wayward fanaticism, but a cultivated canard by those who know better and could NOT have less intention of lifting anyone up who needs/deserves to be; something started by sincere grassroots cranks, then commandeered and 'roided to the roof by desperate and psychopathic oligarchs, just like the Tea Party, the Religious Right, and certain other movements I hesitate to name in the middle of Yamim Nora’im.
