Also on Sunday Nov. 11 is the second run-off vote for Ecuadorian President: ‘Ecuador presidential election second round: economic crisis and pandemic’, Jorge Martin, marxist.com, April 10, 2021

The electoral campaign for the second round of the presidential elections in Ecuador on Sunday, 11 April has come to an end. The second round pits the banker Guillermo Lasso, the candidate of the capitalist oligarchy, against the candidate of the left-wing UNES, Andrés Arauz, who represents correísmo and who came first in the first round on 7 February. So far, the polls do not suggest a clear winner.

Two and and a half weeks ago I took another vertigo crash, and am just beginning to pull out of it. It seems that it scrambled my grey matter further, and Mr. wd has had to take off work in order to shepherd me from here to there to steady my on my pins. Over the past two or three days, I'd at least tried to catch up w/ the Popular Resistance newsletter, but had decided not to post about the Assange vigils for which I'd already collected notes. But last night Julian was in my dreams, giving me the incentive to post this.

I'm sure you'll understand that I won't have the wherewithal to answer comments (nor ever watch even part of a video interview again), but I wanted you to be aware of whats afoot globally on his behalf.

Light a candle for Julian, and perhaps a second one for Andrés Arauz.

Sleep is curative. Get all the shut eye you can handle.

Thanks for the heads up on Julian.
Here's a good summary piece from wsws...
https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2021/04/10/assa-j01.html

Two years ago on Sunday, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was seized from the Ecuadorian embassy in London. He has been incarcerated ever since, fighting extradition to the United States where he faces life imprisonment in barbaric conditions for exposing war crimes, coup plots, mass state surveillance, torture and corruption.

Take care!

@Lookout

scripps' coverage. just a scan makes me think it's an almost exhaustive report of the true history as well. sleep, yes; RL is more tiring than usual for both of us.

sadly, my comments seem to have made this diary more about me than julian and the (related) ecudorian presidential election.

some vigils have begun, see Candles4Assange on Twitter. i'll need to get offline soonish, although i might come back to embed a few later today. or: if anyone would like to do so, please feel free.

If this has not been done already might consider following up on possibility of medication/herb side effect or orthostatic hypotension. This article is hard to read maybe Hubby could help. At the end is a long list of generic names of meds which can have an accumulative effect causing dizziness. Sensitivity increases as we age. Most lists are incomplete, this is a easier to read article but suggested alternatives could be better.

Orthostatic hypotension, temporary low blood pressure when first standing up from a sitting position or sitting up from a lying down position. Check blood pressure at the different positions. Again may be caused by many medications and sensitivity increases as we age.

Continue improving, enjoy your contributions.

and mr. might read them to check, but he and i are a geezer and a geezerette, neither of us are on any meds save CBD cannabis capsules.

i've been doing most of the home health protocols for vertigo, save for one i'd not to thought to check into: acupuncture points. my triggers are indeed non-musical video interviews, and this time i hope i've learned my final lesson. i'd known better, but had wanted to at least try just a bit of one of CB's matthew ehret interview. i walked into our bedroom on one crutch (we call them 'my ponies') and crashed.

dunno how long i was out, but i did manage to get face up, but my left shoulder was, and still is, pretty useless, as is my left eye 4 now. so i spent 3 hours wriggling and trying to get to a phone to call mr. wd home from work. and yes, there were comical aspects to my long journey around this small hogan, with my voice hollering imprecations and jibes to myself!

but yesterday i made it to the kitchen on two ponies...w/ mr. w standing by just in case. the last couple weeks had caused me to remember my favorite love songs, and cuz mr. wd had found and loved this one, this is for him, w/ my profuse gratitude:

Here a classic.

@mimi

thank you, ma soeur. srsly, had i not dreamt of julian two nights go, i'd not have posted any of this. i know it may sound silly, but i am a vivid dreamer, and take them to heart. IOW, it seemed the very least i could do for him.

mr. wd is fielding my phone calls, my emails have gone begging, but he did read me a few items from the popular resistance newsletter, one of which i may paste together once my wits gather again to read and decode coherently. most stuff online sounds ike i left it: the Empire against china, iran, russia, VZ. as biden said: 'not much will change' including the political persecution and prosecution of 'the high tech terrorist'...julian assange.

your hint of 'still gotta purpose to serve' reminded me of this glorious santana w/ everlast song:

Though it seems as if the shadow government has already gotten what they wanted out of Ecuador -- the handing-over of Julian Assange. Maybe they want Ecuador's mineral resources too, or something, or maybe they want to use Ecuador for palm oil plantations so that the local Ecuadorean bats can spread a new pandemic in the spirit of capitalism as recorded by Andreas Malm.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

but the above tweets indicated that there weren't all that many folks at the vigils. any idea why the images no longer come thru automatically?

Do you mean images on tweets? If so I can't see them presently. I add blocked something somewhere and and can't see photos. Can't use the Twit on my old Mac either. Hoping to get the new one up soon. I have said that since I bought it. Spoons haven't been available for it.

Was that your question?

Looks like we are meddling in their election again and are rigging it for our stooge. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I’d sure love to know what Moreno got in return for selling Julian out. The people got screwed bigly with austerity policies. We sanction the hell out of countries and it mostly effects the poorest, but we have been under sanctions too for a very long time. Even before Reagan, Kennedy’s tenure wasn’t that progressive either.

there were so many early lying smears against arauz it's hard not to figure they'd taken hold. but from al jazeera:

Austerity measures, part of a $6.5bn financing agreement with the International

Monetary Fund that were imposed by President Lenin Moreno – who did not seek re-election, failed to have an effect and only caused more pain.

they reported that lasso said he'd be a 'father figure' and unite the nation, and that there were 1.6 million null ballots, likely due to creepy yaku saying 'destroy your ballots' or close. haven't seen reports like the earlier ones noting that the OAS, et/al. had been interfering, but rafael correa must be dizzy with fury.

goddam. i thought arauz would actually win. thanks for the link.
