AOC derangement syndrome

It's time the right-wing admits that it has an unhealthy obsession with AOC.

Last spring Media Matters for America did a study that measured this obsession.

She has also become an obsession on Fox News. In the six weeks from February 25 and April 7, her name was mentioned 3,181 times on Fox News and Fox Business; not a day went by in that time frame that she wasn't discussed on the networks.

Ocasio-Cortez is brought up constantly, even if the topic has nothing to do with her, as with the recent terror attacks in New Zealand. Hosts and guests smear and misrepresent Ocasio-Cortez’s agenda, caricaturing it while painting it as radical, dangerous, far-left socialism. They often draw bleak comparisons between her progressive vision and the turmoil in Venezuela or invoke murderous dictators to attack her policies. Fox figures go on extended, agressively angry rants about her.

That's just under 76 times a day.
Tucker Carlson has called her an "idiot wind bag," a "pompous little twit," a "fake revolutionary," ''self-involved and dumb," a "moron and nasty and more self-righteous than any televangelist."

The Democrat's Trump Derangement Syndrome looks almost rational in comparison.
Trump is a crude, offensive crook holding the powerful office in the world. It's understandable to hate him.
The Republican's AOC Derangement Syndrome is completely different. They hate her because she's young, attractive, well-spoken and makes socialism look cool. Thus you end up with stuff like this.

AOC is facing an amazing eight Republican and five Democratic candidates for re-election, but AOC is still likely to win.

In 2018 she steamedrolled the Republican candidate by a margin of 78%.

With about $3.4m in her campaigns re-election coffers in a solidly Democratic district, Ocasio-Cortez’s Republican challengers probably plan on merely damaging her or securing a bigger national media profile by taking on such a famed opponent.

John Cummings, a former police officer, raised $425,000 in 10 weeks after announcing his candidacy for the Republican nomination on Fox & Friends. Jamaican immigrant Scherie Murray gave her first interview to Fox News’s Sean Hannity and raised a similar amount.

The most well-known of her challengers is Michelle Caruso-Cabrera, a former CNBC anchor and far-right Republican libertarian that somehow registered as a Democrat in order to primary AOC.

Her seat is going to disappear. They control the Assembly and the Senate this time. Last time the Repubs in the Senate couldn't come to an agreement on how to split up the gerrymander, so a judge set the map.

@boriscleto
Because then AOC will be free to run for whoever's seat that the district will be.
In other words, they would probably end up having AOC beat ANOTHER incumbent, which would like doubling down on a losing bet.

@gjohnsit If they do she should run against Schumer or Gillibrand.

@boriscleto
to see AOC unseat Schumer. I know I'd give whatever I could afford.

@entrepreneur
there will be a lot of down-ballot impact.
the Squad could go from 4 members to 12, 15, maybe even 20.
Because AOC will be helping to fund this, she'll become a kingmaker. Her political power will increase 100 fold.

people that already hate AOC probably won't vote for her

She’s a star on the national political stage, but Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is viewed skeptically back in her Queens and Bronx 14th Congressional District, according to a new door-to-door survey.

It found that she has a low 21% favorability rating, that just 11% believe she has their best interests in mind, and that only 13% would vote to reelect her.

The survey of registered voters was conducted by the political action committee targeting her with a Federal Election Commission complaint, Stop The AOC PAC.

a survey not name "stop AOC" found different results

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is viewed favorably by the majority of voters in her district, according to a new poll released by Siena College Research Institute.

The poll, which surveyed 607 voters by phone in Congressional District 14, which covers portions of The Bronx and western Queens, found that 52 percent of voters viewed Ocasio-Cortez favorably, with 48 percent of all voters and 61 percent of Democrats saying they would vote to reelect her in 2020. The survey found that 33 percent of respondents view her unfavorably.
