Altercation at Sanders Rally in the Mile High City

It appears that a black guy wearing a "black guns matter" shirt was assaulted over his views on guns at the weekend Bernie Sanders rally in Denver. The shirt was hardly visible. https://nypost.com/2020/02/17/brawl-breaks-out-at-bernie-sanders-rally-o...

From the appearance of the two videos the youngish black guy was taking video with his camera, and not fighting. Probably wondering why the young guy with the lip piercing was angry, and especially wondering why a white guy was calling him a racist for wearing a "black guns matter" T shirt. Takes all types I guess.

The stereotype of the white conservative male gun owner simply doesn't hold true here. I'd not want to bet on what percentage of Democrats in my county are gun owners and gun supporters, I'd guess a lot more than 50%. Weld County Colorado is known for our views on the subject. There is a libertarianism on social issues that runs through the fabric of western society. Want to smoke dope or buy a gun or get an abortion or marry someone of the same sex, have at it, just don't condemn others for any opinions they might have on a subject, as long as they don't push their opinions on you. Kind of a live and let live place.

Unprovoked violence and uncontrolled anger, not cool.

          The Sanders supporter, who told the station his name is Tyler, claimed the T-shirt-wearing man knocked his cellphone out of his hand and attacked him.

          He then retaliated and wrestled with him as the senator spoke, he told the station.

          I have however encountered Trump supporters in the wild, sooooo …

But whether it was or not, I'm sure it'll make the rounds of "NEWS!" on the talk shows tomorrow, and of course it'll be Bad Bernie's fault for not keeping his millions of supporters under control. Whooo boy.

staged by the DNC or Trump. Actually I'd kind of be surprised if it wasn't staged.

@entrepreneur If this were staged, the DNC was more likely than the Repugs for fomenting it. Right now, the Repubbies are sitting back drinking their scotch or white wine, enjoying the the internecine Dem warfare. Let's you and him fight. Commander Cheeto's forces are marshaling their ammunition until the Dem nominee is officially forced upon the D Partei.

reflect the reported story. It begins with an AA male pulling a white male out from under the stage, then a bit of a tussle on the ground, and when they stand up, all's well between them. The AA male doesn't have any recording equipment and doesn't appear to be looking for any as he walks away.

that pulled the white guy away and walked with him a bit is not the same black guy that is in the wrestling match.

@edg
black man that claims he was attacked for no reason? If his story is true, there's no shortage of TV/print reporters that would be happy to present him and his story.

but I'm pretty sure this form of attack has already started against the Sanders campaign.

Bloomberg is attacking Bernie because his supporters were mean and sexist on the internet!

I'm sure there will be many attacks on Sanders for what happens on the internet!

Just remember, nobody in real life gives a shit about what happens on the internet!

People on the internet! can post anything they want and pretend to support whatever candidate they want. The internet! isn't real life.

Wow, right off the bat. . . A report by whom? What kind of report? The reporter who it seems wasn't there is relying on an anonymous report. And the reporter makes it sound like there was some kind of official report by the police or some authoritative source.

"The Sanders supporter, who told the station his name is Tyler, claimed the T-shirt-wearing man knocked his cellphone out of his hand and attacked him."

The other guy just happens to be black and is wearing a "Black Guns Matter" t-shirt.

The Bernie supporter calls him a "racist"? Seriously?

C'mon, why even post something about an event that certainly sounds staged based on obviously biased reporting drawn from an anonymous and altogether dubious "report" referenced in the NY Post?

"Unprovoked"???????? Oh and let's play into the hands of those who are pushing the violent Bernie Bros trope.

But it "appears" the black guy was attacked by the Bernie supporter?

There are going to be more agent provocateurs at Bernie rallies and probably at Nevada Caucus sites this Saturday.

It's a game that's played and will play out some more especially with Bernie emerging and solidifying his position as the front runner.

@Wally If I saw a black guy wearing a t-shirt saying "Black Guns Matter", I'd give him a thumbs up.

@tle

. . . maybe not if the guy knocked your cell phone out of your hand and attacked you as was claimed by the Bernie supporter.

We don't know exactly what happened but it sure seems staged.

Hey, I don't even have a cell phone.

ban nock did, because the event looks like pretty classic infiltration to me. At least I'd look for news coverage more reliable than what I'd get from the corporate press.

Just like with Occupy and a dozen other movements. Send somebody in to pretend to be a supporter and have them behave badly.

It's just possible this wasn't an infiltrator. Even if it wasn't, it will likely result in infiltrators being sent to Bernie events to cause trouble. Can't expect the media and the political establishment to pass up such an opportunity.

Brace yourselves, keep your eyes open, behave with honesty and kindness, and, if possible, investigate such incidents and circulate your findings through the indie press.
