Why I will never ever support Liz Warren.

I think she is really Obama 2.0 no matter how hard she tries to be Bernie. She will tell you what you want to hear until elected.

Warren3.jpg

Here are 20 reasons I will never support Warren and this is just off the top of my head.

1. She ran and hid in 2016. 2020 She is the party’s sheepdog to split the vote.

2. She did not go to standing rock.

Sen. Warren Turns Her Back on Native Americans After Exploiting Them
3. She called Assange a bad actor and does not defend him as a journalist.

4. She will take as much PAC and other dirty money as she can get her hands on if she is the nominee. She said so on TYT.

5. Wall Street and the Third Way support her. The media is pimping her.

6. Diane Ravitch wrote an editorial expressing her concern over Warren’s tight ties to MA charter schools. She is linked to charter schools.

7. She stood and applauded Trump when he said this country would never ever be socialist.Notice Bernie sitting in front of her. She touts that she is a “capitalist to her bones”.
warren2.jpg

8. She was a conservative Republican until 1996.

9. She is pro Israel and never met a sanction or a war she didn’t support.

10. She voted yes on giving Trump’s bloated military an extra 60 bn above what was asked for. She actually proposed giving the military billions to clean up the environment. She called it a Green New Military.

11. She does not really support M4A. She has changed positions on this at least 10 times. Waffle, Waffle

Warren5.jpg

12. She proposes to CAP Rx costs at $500/month. How many can afford that, and if she supposedly now supports M4A, why does she need this?

13. She does not support eliminating student debt. She wants to cap it at 50K still leaving the balance of these predatory and non- dischargeable debts in place. Include housing, books, and advanced degrees and most people will still be strapped with high interest, high penalty, non-dischargeable student loan debt.

15. She’s a means tester. There are always “worthy and unworthy people” who should and should not benefit from what she proposes. Help with housing for the poor, women, offenders, e.g. is good. Help with housing for uninsured 27-year-olds working at substandard wages and living in their parents' basements to pay off the balance of their student debt, so what?

16. She ripped off “I have a plan” from Hillary, and she ripped off Bernie’s agenda.

17. She and her campaign sound more like Oprah’s “you get a car, she gets a car, everyone gets a car” show than a well thought out plan for the people and country like Bernie’s does.

18. She is splitting the progressive vote and undermining the cause, and she doesn’t care.

19. She is deceitful. She has PAC money in her fundraising numbers because she carried in a large sum from her Senate campaign.

20. She has zero crossover appeal and will lose MI and the rust belt to Trump. The Hillary crowd loves her. She has a vagina.

Another list, not mine, with some overlap.

from a reasonably stable genius.

She is a law professor at Harvard. She has done a great deal of research on the economics of the middle class. She has understood the problem for a long time. The problem is that she is fundamentally anti-progressive and will not stick her neck out for real solutions. Her solution is to split up big business. OK, but that will not do much and is still a card carrying Capitalist solution. It will not redistribute income to the middle class, and will keep the oligarchs fabulously rich. It might, very slightly might, reduce prices due to more competition in the market place. However, most major players prefer to cooperate, not compete. Can you even begin to think the splitting up the biggest banks will impact their aggregate profits and obscene salaries? Or in the oil business? She doesn't have a strong enough position on any of the important issues, especially war. In the end she will give in to establishment and embrace them for the sake of acceptability, just like she did with Clinton. Not my candidate!

Bernie has his share of faults, but I feel a sense of appreciation and loyalty to him. Here he is 77 years old and dragging his butt around the country on our behalf. This election belongs to Bernie. He earned it. If the so-called progressives had any concern for the country and the people, they would unite behind Bernie and push him in despite all the efforts to make him fail by the DNC, Pelosi, and the fabricated clown car full of candidates opposing him.

@dkmich but didn't we already have a round of entitlement politics last time? I prefer having more than one progressive in the field, especially given some age considerations. And I wish there were one or two more good ones competing, like AOC.

A non-coronation primary contest is good for all concerned, including the Bernster. He should become better as a candidate which, if he gets the nom, will be beneficial in the general.

All the rest are either Obama or Hillary. Do you really think Tulsi or Gravel can win the general let alone the primary? It is my opinion that people and candidates need to coalesce around Bernie and show the DNC that their efforts to divide and conquer won't work. I can't believe people are playing into their hands as if this election is real or democratic. They will steal it, and we are helping them.

The house sparrows took over my feeders a few weeks ago, so I haven't put food out while I figure out what to do about them. I got a slingshot, but it's not accurate enough so I'll probably end up getting a decent BB gun to deal with them.
Gotta have some more dental work done too. Yay. How you been? I do pop in once in a while to see what's going on.

Sorry to hear about your needing more dental work done. Ugh. I still have nightmares about what i went through, but fortunately my dentist days are over. @snoopydawg Luckily, it includes dental and vision coverage, through Blue Cross/Blue Shield. I liked it better before the insurance company was part of it but it's still not bad. However they may not cover all of my dental work; I have three wisdom teeth left, and one back molar needs a root canal. Over $2000 for the root canal and crown if it's not covered (??? IDK either why some teeth are covered and some aren't? Whatever...); ouch, that's more painful than the wisdom teeth extractions!

Sure they will pay for fillings and certain non expensive dental work, but root canals and wisdom teeth extraction not so much. IMO both should be considered medical treatments because they are basically surgical procedures and covered under medical not dental.

Good luck with your work. I was lucky and after having my wisdom teeth removed I went to work both times. But that was before my teeth got fused to the bone. I had one wonderful experience when it took my dentist over 3 hours to extract a molar. Lots of the time was just getting me numb. But then he couldn't get it out...finally did...I immediately asked for ice and took the day off from work because of the pain. He called to see how I was and I told him I hurt.. he chuckled and said that's because he pulled bone out too. Oh yeah I still have nightmares about my days in the chair.

We had a really good dentist back in Utah; we miss him.
My bottom wisdom teeth came in sideways. When I got the one out I didn't have general anesthesia, and it went fine and I went back to work the next day. I did everything else right, but it still got infected/dry socket later. The pain from that went on for 2-3 months afterward. I suspect it was because I didn't rest enough after. But no PTO means can't afford to take time off. 9_9

top 3 picks, but she is in my second tier, potentially someone I could cast a vote for in the general. A few of your objections above are sound. My primary objection to her is that I have trouble seeing her standing up forcefully to Donnie in the debates, and she has that Pocahontas thing she has poorly dealt with. She projects a rather soft personality to go with her rather soft progressive stances. However, she is a possible VP for Bernie.

That said, there are some weak arguments above:

1) Only sticklers for political purity, all five of them, will care if she borrows positions from some of our favorites. In fact, if she were borrowing solid proposals from non-favorites, no one here would be likely to complain. Wake me up when she starts claiming some of her borrowings as her original ideas. Then she would have that old Biden '88 problem.

2) She was a Republican 23 yrs ago. Oh dear. The horror. My tent is big enough to include those who have grown and evolved over the years, especially when it's demonstrated by actions and votes not mere rhetorical pandering. She's progressive enough on many domestic issues, though not perfect. This is all a relative measurement as I look at the field, and by this important standard she makes the grade on progressivism better than all but 3-4 others.

3) She supports Israel. Who doesn't in this field? Only Tulsi has expressed reservations.

4) She didn't back Assange. Again, who did? Only Tulsi. Maybe Bernie, after a considerable delay and a lot of online griping.

5) She didn't go to SR. I'm part NA (a bit more than Liz), and I didn't go either. Obviously one political consideration is that she would have rightly felt that going would have again brought up the heritage issue, which she likely wants to put deep on the back burner.

6) Crossover appeal (your #20): Disagree with her appeal across ideological and party lines, at least wrt women. She would likely do better with white women voters, as a likable personality, than the unliked Hillary, who actually lost the white women's vote to P-Grabber Donald. On your comment "The Hillary crowd loves her. She has a vagina" -- I'm detecting some subtle sexist undertones. But in any case, Bernie, almost certainly, would consider her as his VP (did you think Bernie would pick another from the socialist camp?), and the fact she could get some of the Hillary support bc of her potential to appeal to the moderate wing and women will not be irrelevant factors for the Bernmeister.

Out of 21 things listed, I probably could find more, you think 5 are mushy. Well so is she.

There are at least five things on that list that absolutely disqualify her in my book unless you want another Obama snake in the White House. Bottom line, she won't do shit if elected. If she wins the primary, she'll walk back everything in the general. The rust belt has no use for her, but go ahead, ignore them again. Vote blue no matter who even if they steal another primary. That'll show them not to mess with you.

The thing that amazes me the most is how much Trump gets done even if it sucks. He does more in a week than Obama did in eight years, more than Pelosi has done in the 150 years she's been in Congress. Warren is cut from the same cloth. She'll do nothing that her funders and Pelosi don't want her to do.

@wokkamile but they deal with her tactics, compromises and political calculation in campaigning. After WJ Clinton and Obama, saying and doing the political thing is what shrieks phony. I'm more worried about her not standing up to the democratic party than her not standing up to Trump.

I first came across Warren on you tube in a taped lecture she gave at Harvard, before entering politics. She knocked my socks off. I just don't know if the lecturer is the same person as the candidate anymore.

@Snode without exception deal in "tactics, compromises and political calculation in campaigning". Even my 2d choice Bernie. Foreign policy stances? I don't believe him. Much too coddling of the national security state status quo, too much too clever by half positioning (e.g., Maduro is a dictator and thug, but we shouldn't overthrow him.)

I suspect he's made a political calculation that it's better to pick your fights, and he has enough on his platter with domestic issues and the socialism charge. And the debates are, and likely will continue to be, 98% about domestic matters. Besides, there still doesn't seem to be a sufficiently large number of Dems pushing back against the DeepState propaganda.

Tulsi is more courageous on her FP of course, and of course isn't perfect either. I'm not looking for perfect. Just someone who I think will carry the ball on the major issues which I feel are important at this time.

And, unless we know some of these candidates personally, we just have to make our best judgment as to their sincerity and degree of their deeply-held principles, if any.

Meantime, the Obama example tends to be wildly overblown in some quarters -- once bitten, twenty times shy. His early career as a comm'y organizer, then efforts to bring together differing factions at HLS, then his kumbaya speech at the 2004 Dem convo clearly signaled we would be getting a get along with Mitch guy, so not a huge surprise how he turned out.

It's not only that she is running on lots of the issues that Bernie did, it's that when he mentioned them people kept asking him how he would pay for them even though he constantly spelled it. But now that Warren is saying them people and the media treat it like they have already passed. No one is asking Liz how she is going to pay for them.

She didn't go to SR. I'm part NA (a bit more than Liz), and I didn't go either.

Liz had been saying that she was part Native American, but couldn't bother supporting the cause of Native Americans? She didn't have to go, but she could have spoken out against the treatment they received by private mercenaries.

She didn't back Assange.

She also said he did some bad things. Don't know where she stands on Chelsea Manning being thrown in jail because she doesn't want to take part in the takedown of Julian Assange. Anyone who doesn't think this is wrong is just mind boggling to me. Chelsea paid her price, but is being cruelly punished again.

This is a deal breaker for me as well as many of us here. It's cowardly and shows that she is not in favor of transparency. Imagine being against war crimes being exposed. Went there with Obama and as dervish says , "Obama promised transparency, but it was Assange that brought it.

@dkmich although she has her weaknesses too.

I agree that the VP pick should be about policy. But if Sanders just squeaks by to win nomination he may have to compromise with DNC on VP pick to keep them from taking it from him.

But that's the reason for so many candidates this time around to prevent him from completely crushing it. This is vote splitting strategy.

Honestly if he wins it it would be a miracle.

Problem with the centrists is they're so afraid of Trump winning again they won't make the righteous vote, they'll make the safe vote.
