Tulsi Update: March 15, 2019 (KPFA Interview, SF Bay Area/Las Vegas Visits)

KPFA RADIO APPEARANCE

Yesterday morning, Tulsi gave a 20-minute interview on Flashpoints on KPFA radio.

For those of you who were earlier seeking more detail about what she would do as commander-in-chief, and if she is really a secret shill for the military-industrial complex, I think this is the clearest interview yet about what she would do and has done in that area.

The only part that I was a bit uncomfortable about was when host Dennis Bernstein asked about Ilhan Omar's recent comments about AIPAC, and Tulsi kind of danced all around the issue without addressing it directly. However, Bernstein then got more specific about some of the awful Israeli things going on, and for the first time I heard Tulsi express support for a two-state solution and call the settlements illegal and say some things at odds with the current Israeli regime. I realize she does not want to piss off a potential Jewish voting base (thus, the evasiveness), and she is trying to avoid being lambasted by the mainstream media by yet another thing to crucify her on. But, I am no longer convinced that she is an Israeli shill.

My conclusions: Tulsi really is the only candidate for peace out there. She really means it when she says we need to focus that military money at home. And, in my opinion, you really cannot effect serious change here at home unless you transition a large part of that economy from the military-industrial-intelligence (spy) complex to things here at home.

You can download that as an MP3 file if you wish. Two things: Dennis calls her a Senator in the first couple minutes of the show (she is a Representative), although he catches himself later. Also, Tulsi gets the day wrong for her San Francisco appearance at the end!

Speaking of which:

TUSLI TOURING SF BAY AREA AND LAS VEGAS

Tulsi's campaign has made her upcoming appearances available through a public Facebook page here (you don't have to be a member to view it):

https://www.facebook.com/pg/TulsiGabbard/events/

Tomorrow, Saturday, she will appear in San Francisco at the University of San Francisco.

Sunday, she will make two appearances in Fremont, CA. Fremont is not far from San Jose on the south end of the Bay, and is home to large populations having Muslim and India ethnicities.

Monday, she will appear in Las Vegas--her first appearance in Nevada, which has an early caucus.

ATTENDANCE NOTE ON UPCOMING APPEARANCES

If you look at the above even page, it has numbers as to how many people are registered to attend her appearances. With the exception of one appearance in NH and the recent one in Philly, none have really had more than 100 people registered to attend.

The SF appearance has over 600, Fremont shows about 1,300, and Las Vegas close to 400 people attending. This might be a good way to indirectly track if her popularity is rising or falling, and I'll be tracking that and reporting on that moving forward.

Community Content & I found this by accident today.
BTW, I registered for the SF event tomorrow but there seems to be a little confusion about the address of Fromm Hall. Is it 2130 Fulton St. or is it 2497 Golden Gate Ave?
And thank you for keeping us current with Tulsi.

@chuckutzman

Facebook gives the Fulton street address, but I've never been to Fromm Hall.

@chuckutzman
It's a USF hall, between Golden Gate and Fulton. Just depends on which door you use.

front page. Not every essay makes it there, but there are certainly a lot of other essays that have great commentary in it. I for one never look at the FP because every essay there is posted on the CC. If I am wrong about this someone let me know.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

@chuckutzman
because there are ALL the essays including those who are on the Front Page. You miss lots and lots of very worthy essays and comment threads, if you just click on the Front Page.

I can't be here every second of every day.

Why isn't this posted on the Front Page?

step up the pace a bit, get smarter in her outreach. I don't think she has reached the 65k unique donor threshold yet, which allows her to compete in the debates. That and the 1% showing in 3 polls.

Meanwhile, one Andrew Yang, Silicon Valley entrepreneur and little known outside of that area, has reached 65k, using a smart combination of social media, mainstream media appearances, and popular podcasts to drum up attention. He's very impressive actually, and is running on a Guaranteed Basic Income ($1k/mo) and pot legalization platform. Seems progressive on domestic issues; haven't heard him yet on FP but would be surprised if he's a regime changer.

Tulsi might want to try for another interview gig with Joe Rogan and Jimmy Dore. She's appeared with both, but that was a few months back, so her timing was a bit off. If you want her to appear in the debates, you should contribute, even if for only $5 as that counts towards the 65k. Tell your friends too. It's crucial that her voice on opposing US foreign regime change wars be heard. Otherwise who is going to make that case?

There will be two sets of debates on consecutive nights, candidates randomly chosen for each. No "junior varsity" or kiddie's table debate as with the GOP last time.
