We share some of the same growth in our environment.

They are tomato plants, with a fading taro leaf drooping over them. The condensation is on lebanese cucumber leaves.

we are sharing your rain now. but no 40 foot wave thankfully. the cumulus clouds are loosely organized and beautiful but it is too wet to go out and photo them. glad you love your new camera. what's not to like. Lol

While the light fades and so do some plants here, some of your rain would be very welcome.

It’s been really hot and dry here lately. Thankfully, the night temperatures are falling, providing some relief as well as a bit of moisture in the form of condensation. Every summer here is intensely felt at some point. This year it arrived a lot later than last year, and will be of shorter duration as we creep toward Autumn, which is good. The ocean temperature didn’t reach record temperatures as it did last summer, but higher temperatures are becoming ‘the new normal’.

the raindrops, considering that we've practically been experiencing a quasi-monsoon season for the past several weeks.

BTW, Mr M and I are checking out several SA countries. Did I see that you lived in Argentina at one time? If you have, sorta curious if you enjoyed it, and if you have any thoughts about the country as a possible retirement destination for two ol' coots and a pup. Smile

Have a nice weekend!

The flowers started blooming about a month ago after good mix of rain and warm days in December and January. Last winter there was so little rain the flowers didn't bloom.

This is amazing how it showed it. The second one I see 3 different animals in it including a turtle. Very nice.

Our weather has been horrible. Windy every day this week with lots of rain and now we're getting driving snow. Total whiteout. If it had been colder here yesterday we'd have 5 feet of snow.

is beautiful and whimsical. Thanks snoopy.

Is the leaf with the one big drop like the eye of a turtle or fish? I saw the shadow of a mouse in the first photo.

I can sorta see that.

I must have walked by the tree for weeks until I took the picture. Too many leaves or bad lighting or.. the place changes every day even though it's not really.

Yes I see a mouse there. Plain as day. Really cool photo. But I thought you said that you saw a rabbit and that's what I saw on the right. Even though I wrote mouse I meant rabbit. Never mind Smile

Good

I'm still trying to figure out how to transfer photos from my phone to my computer, so I can share a photo of Miss K. If I can't get it to work, guess I'll settle for posting a photo or two from the recent Westminster Dog Show.

Hope you and yours are doing well.

Beagle Adopts Baby Possum And It’s As Cute As You Think It Is

This is so cute. I'm stuck with the Charlie the Smelly Beagle. The rain washed away all the snow so Charlie found every damn sticking things she could today and rolled in them. She got a bath, but I'm betting that she will roll again tomorrow and will have to have another one. I tell her why she's in the tub, but she ignores me. But how can I be mad when she is this cute?

can also include the pleasure of just observing, and even the desire to aid the life of another animal it might otherwise have wanted to hurt. When you come to NZ just make sure there is no scent of Charlie or any other live material or you'll be held up by customs, and their beagles ; ).

They capture scents for their noses to digest. One reason why they are used for finding drugs. And food on the floor or anywhere in the vicinity. Two brains. When the nose brain is engaged they won't hear a thing you say. You really need to know what you're getting into with them.

your comment, and generous offer of help with transferring my photos to my hard drive via email, until this evening.

Also, thanks for the heartwarming story/video clip about Molly the Beagle and her orphaned friend. Lately, (more than ever) I could use a good reason to smile.

Smile

Regarding the email method (of transferring photos)--I was hoping to figure out another method, because I highly suspect that the phone I used to take the photos may have been compromised in some way (while I was using it as a hot spot connection). IOW, I'm leery of transferring anything from it, into my email account, which I think/hope is virus-free. Think I've found a workaround, which I'll try out if/when I get a decent enough photo.

Hope to catch up with you Guys at EB and the Photography OT if I have a connection, tomorrow. Never-ending severe flooding caused us to delay getting on the road, yet another day. If this keeps up, this month will beat out February 2018, which broke all previous records for rainfall (for the month of February).

Have a good one!

Great bees S.P. Awesome cathedral shot B.R., and 'summer equinox at razorhenge' isn't bad either... Wink

This is an Orange-crowned Warbler eating white millet in the freeze earlier this week. Most warblers are insectivores. Some few birds seem to be named after the part you are least likely to see, the orange crown is usually hidden but can be impressive when displayed.
ocwarb020919b.jpg

This is a male Myrtle type Yellow-rumped Warbler. They have an enzyme in the stomach that allows them to digest bayberrys. This allows them to winter further north where no insects.
myrtle010419a.jpg

This is a rear view so you can see the yellow rump. There are for the most part two types of Yellow-rumped Warblers in the U.S.: Myrtle, and Audubon's, which were considered separate species for a long time but lumped into Yellow-rumped and now are subspecies.

myrtle010419b.jpg

Yellow-billed Cuckoo. Our cuckoos in the U.S. do not say cu-coo, that is the European Cuckoo, and our only rarely parasitize nests, the Euro birds are strict nest parasites like our cowbirds. Our cuckoos are tent caterpillar specialists, one of the few birds that will tear into the tents and clean them out. They also take the wooly ones that most birds don't touch with glee. One colloquial name is Rainbird as there is a call they make when it is going to rain, probably barometrically triggered.

Thanks to all for all the great posts all over the site all week.
