Trump furious after Schiff hires former NSC aides to help oversee his administration

Washington (CNN) House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff has hired officials with experience at the National Security Council to help with his panel's oversight of President Donald Trump's administration, according to a committee aide.

The aide declined to say how recently the newly hired officials worked at the council, whether they served under Trump or to identify the individuals. But the move appears to have enraged the President and some members of his senior staff, who view the move as an intrusion. It comes as Democrats prepare to wield new investigative power after winning a House majority in 2018.

Trump fumed on Twitter Thursday about the recently launched investigations led by the Democratic intelligence chair and suggested he was raiding the White House staff.

That bug eyed little asshole thinks he’s in charge. Who told this SOB that he can override the voters and run this shit-show?

How is this not a ‘coup’? How is interfering with the will of the voters and a duly elected president’s administration NOT a usurpation of presidential powers?

Someone needs to yank this bug eyed little leaker’s chain. This has gone too damn far.

EDIT: I was so miffed I forgot the punctuation and to finish a paragraph. I believe that the Dims have crossed another line too far. Where’s Shifty think he’s at? Venezuela?

and that they just didn't want to look into Bush and Cheney's war crimes and crimes against humanity. But then we knew that. They would definitely have a case against Trump if they were going after him for war crimes and possibly the emoluments clause, but that's not why they are investigating him. They are trying to tie him to some bogus Russian connections and that is an abuse of power. IMO. Trump hasn't helped himself though because he's been such a shit, but you'd think democrats would be thanking him for passing things they have long wanted to pass. Think that they wouldn't have voted for the tax bill? Sure they would've. Just like they voted for the bank deregulation and other issues that their donors wanted.

and dangerous territory. The side that LOST the election, regardless of how many dirty tricks and illegal acts they pulled, is still trying to push Trump aside and ‘govern’.

No, they cannot be allowed to get away with this. If they do then fuck it, we’re done.

Hillary played dirty trying to win the election and now democrats are playing just as dirty trying to derail Trump's presidency.

But I'm still wondering why Trump won't put a stop to this by releasing any of the files he has that will stop this once and for all. The original FISA warrants would be a great place to start. The NSA files for the day that Russia supposedly hacked the DNC computers. And if Huber won't do his job then get someone in who will. Nunes and the other republicans that investigated the FBI and the Steele dossier have enough evidence to show us what the truth is. And if that means frying the British intelligence agencies so be it.

Declassifying the basis for the Carter Page FISA warrant, assuming the oppo research Steele et.al. Dossier was used as a foundation, could well put a stake through the heart of the Muller investigation. It could also open up a big time can of worms. If the FBI knowing used information they new to be dubious, that is tantamount to outright misrepresentation. If the warrant is tainted, so too is the evidence obtained and any prosecutions that relied on that evidence.

Neither of our duopoly parties want increased scrutiny of how this dossier came to be. Both were involved. Exposing the basis for the Carter Page warrant would be a great place to start if you want more transparency, but a disaster for those with something to hide. Trump wants the “witch hunt” to stop, but perhaps can’t risk torching the Democrats house because the Republicans live right next door. Fire that hot is going to be very hard to control.

I guess you’re right in a way. He let the 1%/MIC do all the governing and he did as told. Never to OUR benefit, of course. And that was his choice.

Now he’s being richly rewarded for services rendered.

a. The GOP's passive-aggressive approach to their advise-and-consent role, leaving various government posts empty, in some cases for years.
b. Their refusal to pass even their own legislation, if they thought it would help Obama politically.

The Dems and Pubs serve more or less the same masters, more or less all the time, yet the GOP fought tooth and nail against the ACA, a plan that originated in their own hyperpartisan think tanks. This kind of behavior was a clear violation of their oaths of office. I will decline to elaborate on what I think the consequence should have been.

obstructionists.

The Dims are outright lying seditionists who have created the biggest scandal in this country’s history.

Take your pick. Personally I am against both. Who betrayed you? It wasn’t Trump, and that’s the crazy part, it was Clinton’s organization with Obama’s backing. HE weaponized the IC and turned them loose to rig the election.

@UntimelyRippd @UntimelyRippd @UntimelyRippd @UntimelyRippd is something we should be thankful for in some cases like when Obama actually put cuts to Social Security in his offer to Repubs during the 'deficit fever' ginned up by both Parties and leading to all of Obama's Cat Food Commissions.
True we all know (Obama too) that SS contributes nothing to the 'deficit' but as my own Dim Representative answered when I questioned whether or not he would support such a thing he gave me the stock answer echoed from Obama and across the Dim Party, "everything is on the table".
So similar to what all of the same people said when questioned about fossil fuel industries in their so-called 'green plan' and just like candidate Hillary 'fracking queen of the world' Clinton's campaign answered why it was part of her environmental platform, because it was an "all of the above" policy.

every day for more information about the "investigation." I'm thankful you're alerting us to things I wouldn't otherwise read. In this case, if deep state actors in the NSC, who presumably now work for Bolton, are going after Trump on behalf of Schiff, I would assume they would also be acting on behalf of Bolton, the Israel lobby, the stay-in-Syria-and-Afghanistan-forever lobby and the war-on-Iran-machine.

But you know something? I kind of think they've shot their wad. I think the common sense points being made by Tulsi Gabbard and Rand Paul, as well as by Trump and whoever wrote his SOTU Speech, are winning the debate on this madness, increasingly clearly, day by day. I think the country wants out of these wars. I think the country doesn't care about Trump's taxes or his bimbo blackmailers or his hotel scams. I think the American people see the Democrats as rats, as thieves who steal elections in smoke-filled rooms, by their own Democratic lawyer's admission, and they're not going to be dancing in the streets if Schiff and his thug lawyers find Trump cheating on his taxes.

What is it that Schiff and company visualize as "getting" Trump? After what we went through with Clinton and his Lewinski bimbo, I don't think they're going to shock anyone with Trump doing anything comparable. Finances? Bribes? Wow. Talking with Putin on the phone about HRC? Wow. What is it that Schiff and his gang of morons are looking for? A way to show Trump has made our democracy corrupt? I can't even think of an adverb or adjective to describe how pathetic that is.

@Amanda Matthews is how the government is supposed to work. Congress is supposed to put a check on the President when the masses get a whiff of clue. But this isn't that, this is plain old clintonspired nixonian dirty tricks, same as it ever was. CORRUPT

I second what Linda Wood said, thanks for keeping track of these assholes and posting updates. The most offensive and least interesting parts of government should not be ignored in a normal functioning system. But this isn't that.

This is big club kabuki to me, a comedy presented by the UniParty, starring the UniParty, punishing the UniParty with a wet noodle, rewarding the UniParty with laundered cash behind the curtains... as the UniParty robs the treasury blind, and the UniParty burns the world to a crisp. Way to go, Shifty. lol

...and in the comments (those that support those sentiments).

That being said, I totally agree that Adam Schiff is little more than an opportunistic showman (i.e.: media whore; many U.S. pol's are); and one of the key players on the Democratic side of the aisle when it comes to being at the forefront of the divisive and grossly-misguided, Democratic version of McCarthyism 2.0. I have pretty much detested the guy since day one.

However, our government IS supposed to be a system of CHECKS AND BALANCES. Regrettably, the internal checks and balances on Trump's unchecked behavior--i.e.: Mattis, McMaster--are now gone. What does America have left to put a saddle on this monster currently in the White House, at least when it comes to our country's foreign policy, and not rushing into the seemingly inevitable endgame before it: World War III?

John Bolton, along with Pompeo, are the current administration's shot-callers when it comes to U.S. foreign policy. One only need reference Bolton's Wiki page to understand he supports just about everything the majority of folks in this community continually rail against when it comes to our country's grossly misguided and profoundly/ultimately self-destructive foreign policy. (There are a lengthy list of reasons not to support Bolton on his Wiki page to support my sentiments. And, yes, the other side is no better; maybe worse.)

We are a country in decline. And, between global warming and the end of U.S. dominance in world affairs clearly on the world's political horizon, it's getting uglier by the day. The majority of pwned folks running both major U.S. political parties--which are both controlled by the MIC, etc.--in this country often appear to be in a race to escalate this suicidal effort, much like climate change, 'til there's no turning back.

We're just about there.

At least with Schiff throwing some misguided roadblocks in the way of this homestretch sprint towards self-destruction, maybe we'll buy a few more months or years?

I know this is a pathetically lame excuse--and a very, very low bar--to support a McCarthyite, Democratic warmonger's efforts to play out the clock, so to speak; but, in my profoundly negative view of where things are headed in the world, right now, that appears to be all we've got.

@bobswern
line is we are irredeemablely screwed if we allow these jackals to totally destroy the government. And I mean all three levels.

If the powers of office of the Presidency become diminished, the ramifications of this power grab will continue to plague us long after Trump’s gone. Yeah, Trump’s comparable to a hickey on a hemorrhoid but he’s the only one talking about withdrawing from Afghanistan, not the fucking Dims.

The elevation of the Legislative Branch of our three co-equal branches over the Executive is a usurpation of Constitutionally designated powers. The Dims are no more our ‘friends’ than the other side. That is, if you believe in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. We lost more rights and financial security under the last guy who just happens to be up to his eyeballs in this attempt at a ‘soft’ coup and who happens to be a Dim. H’s lied to us about everything for years and he’s still a powerhouse in that shit show. Out on the road still giving us his 2 cents. Well, maybe not us plebs. He’s still trying to ‘shape the conversation we should be having in this country. I don’t want them preventing my action to information. They can’t be trusted.

The laws they broke just getting those FISC warrants should put their lying butts in prison for a decade or three. Instead the guys you think we need to run things are prosecuting RUSSIAN!!! telemarketers for ‘collusion’, which is NOT a crime as opposed to the stunts the Dims pulled, several of which were, including lying to CONGRESS. (Sound familiar?) They gave themselves special powers to use the IC to go raking through people’s lives until they found something they can use. When that didn’t work they put people before Mieller’s investigation committee, asked them hours worth of questions, most of them totally IRRELEVANT to anything RUSSIAN!!! related and then indicted them for perjury regardless if the ‘guilty party’ had corrected the record himself, like that that snake oil salesman Manafort.

You want those people running things? I certainly don’t. They’ve taken enough from us already. And they get away with it all because of the famous ‘Lesser of Two Evils’ factor. And they’re not really the ‘lesser’ of anything.

out of Syria.

What does America have left to put a saddle on this monster currently in the White House, at least when it comes to our country's foreign policy, and not rushing into the seemingly inevitable endgame before it: World War III?

Unfortunately, the democrats aren't concerned about Trump's foreign policies unless he wants to bring troops home for any reason. And it's the democrats who are pushing the hardest for WWIII with their stupid Russia Gate propaganda crap. They have no problem with him bombing Syria on false pretenses. On sending lethal weapons to Ukraine and pissing off Russia. On overthrowing another country for its oil.

I'm all for checks and balances, but for the right reasons. I still don't understand why the democrats are doing this since Trump is doing exactly the same things that Obama's war department did after Bush started the turmoil in the Middle. Or ramped it up to where it is now.

I also don't think Trump had any say in Bolton's appointment or Abrams either. Bring Abrams out of the grave was done for one reason. He's going to be in charge of the Venezuelan coup. IMO.

that the’left’ Is squabbling and wagging fingers while desperately needed for and supplies are being blockaded by the military.

Liberal Democrats' opposition has clashed with Democratic leadership, which has been largely supportive of the administration’s actions so far. Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin, D-Ill., called Guaido and his colleagues “brave patriots” and said it was appropriate for Trump to recognize Guaido as the leader of Venezuela.

@snoopydawg Mattis was against:
-- pulling out of the Iran deal
-- moving the US embassy to Jerusalem
-- creating a Space Force
-- starting a trade war with many US allies

Trump inflamed the relationship by keeping Mattis out of the loop on major military announcements, such as:
-- banning transgender troops from the armed forces
-- halting joint South Korean military exercises

Mattis did succeed in preventing Trump from ordering the assassination of Bashar al-Assad, the president of Syria. Essentially, that would have inflamed the Syria situation quite massively.

Furthermore, Trump wanted to deliver up a military response to North Korea, and Mattis talked him down on that, too. Our president also thought torture, in general, was something worth pursuing; something Mattis convinced him was not a good idea.

Last but not least, Trump abruptly made the call to withdraw from Syria, which we now know is not really happening, at least to the extent it's been propagandized, to date. And, Mattis found out about that only shortly before the announcement was made. This undermined U.S. military relationships with many countries--most importantly, France and Great Britain, both of whom were only let in on this decision just shortly before it was announced.

Trump is, to say the least, very erratic. (See above!) This is a basic and dangerous fact that runs counter to any country's relationship with virtually all countries around the globe.

So, yes, Mattis was somewhat of a safety valve--one that no longer exists within White House foreign affairs decision-making.
