Ohhhh! Rosenstein ain’t gonna show!

I wonder why too. Wonder if this is just rumor? I suppose we’ll soon find out.

doesn't congress have the power to subpoena people to show up and if they don't then you can send someone to either haul their butts in or arrest them.

Rosenstein may have been kidding about doing that, but McCabe and Lisa Page wanted to do it. What are those two doing now? Who knows, but one thing that they aren't doing is working at the FBI.

Here's what this is about.

Former FBI lawyer: Plot to record, remove Trump not a joke

Don’t tell former FBI general counsel James Baker that those now-infamous discussions about secretly recording President Trump and using the tapes to remove him from office were a joke.

He apparently doesn’t believe it. And he held quite the vantage point — he was on the inside of the bureau’s leadership in May 2017, when the discussions occurred.

Baker told Congress last week that his boss — then-acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe — was dead serious about the idea of surreptitiously recording the 45th president and using the evidence to make the case that Trump should be removed from office, according to my sources.

Baker told lawmakers he wasn’t in the meeting McCabe had with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in which the subject came up. But he did have firsthand conversations with McCabe and the FBI lawyer assigned to McCabe, Lisa Page, about the issue.

“As far as Baker was concerned, this was a real plan being discussed,” said a source directly familiar with the congressional investigation. “It was no laughing matter for the FBI.”

Word of Baker’s testimony surfaced just days before Rosenstein was set to be interviewed in private on Thursday by House Judiciary Committee lawmakers.

****
The FBI was created to investigate crimes and stop foreign intelligence and terrorism threats. It was never designed to be a broker in the political process of elections or the execution of the 25th Amendment.

The Steele dossier was given to journalist David Corn by someone from Fusion GPS a company that people hire to clean up their reputation. One way they do that is by giving stories to the press. Corn gave the dossier to Baker because Steele had been fired and he couldn't do it himself.

Hopefully Russia Gate will finally be exposed as Hillary's getting the FBI to gather 'dirt' on Trump so she could win the election. And Rachel will have to explain that to her fans.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

Holy Grail. In college, I saw the FBI as yet another right-wing government organization, like the CIA and the military. More recently, I see the FBI as yet another right-wing organization that Third Way Democrats pwned, like establishment media.

Step right up, folks. Ya say the only government spending ya really like is spending on the FBI, the CIA and--this one will tickle ya, ladies and gents--"defense?" (I gotta say, that "defense" stuff always cracks me up!) Ya say ya wanna be Republican or Libertarian, but you are not a religious fundamentalist? Ya say stuff like the Klan, the Confederate flag, neo-Nazis and 4chan embarrass the crap out of you? Well then, boy oh by, have I got a deal for you!

The source of the above quotation is me, pretending to be an old-time snake oil salesman or carnival barker er, a sidewalk grifter a spokesperson for Third Way Democrats.

with Trump to Orlando for a Police Chief's conference on Monday. Trump said they did talk during the flight. I would love to know what the discussion was about.

IMHO, Rosenstein's time is limited, but what I am wondering is if his refusal to appear before Congress is an attempt to bait the President into firing him, thus crossing what Chuck Schumer called the red line.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said earlier this year that firing Rosenstein would cause a “constitutional crisis”, and firing Rosenstein has been considered a red line by some Republicans as well, some of whom supported a bill earlier this year to protect Mueller’s investigation from being shut down by the White House.

Meanwhile, if Congress had any guts, they could possibly charge Rosenstein with contempt of Congress. However, that appears to have some limitations.

Contempt of Congress

Congress can issue contempt citations to people unwilling to provide testimony, within certain limits. Congress can ask the Justice Department to incarcerate any witness impeding an investigation. In the case of Anderson v. Dunn (1821), the Supreme Court upheld the right of Congress to have people arrested for contempt. This right has its limitations. Congress must demonstrate that the testimony of the prospective witness would aid its ability to create laws. If not, then the contempt citation is invalid.

At this point, I am not sure how much is theater and how much is political posturing, or perhaps a combination of both.

Do I hear the sound of guillotines being constructed?

“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable." ~ President John F. Kennedy

what's going on. Jeff Carlson asks whether or not Rosenstein is acting in the interests of justice or whether he's acting in the interests of one side or the other in a political battle. I have no idea, but what I appreciate about Carlson is that he looks at the dates on which things happen, and he then sees a sequence that makes sense to him.

The Battle Between Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein and Andrew McCabe
BY JEFF CARLSON
October 11, 2018

… On Oct. 5, 2017, former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI. On Oct. 27, 2017, former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and his business partner Rick Gates were indicted on FARA violations relating to a period under the Obama administration involving Ukraine. The Manafort indictment appears to lead straight to connections with the Podesta Group as well as Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska. The indictments were made public on Oct. 30, 2017.

Tony Podesta, the brother of former Hillary Clinton campaign manager John Podesta, immediately stepped down as chairman of the Podesta Group, and the firm was effectively dismantled. Meanwhile, the Manafort case continues, and Deripaska had new sanctions imposed on him this week.

Deripaska’s lawyer, Adam Waldman, appears to have represented Christopher Steele and Julian Assange in addition to Deripaska. We know this from texts sent between Waldman and Senator Mark Warner. Reference is also made in these texts to Daniel Jones, a former intelligence staffer to Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.). His company, the Penn Quarter Group retained Steele and Fusion GPS at some point in 2016 or possibly earlier.

Finally, on Feb. 16, 2018, another Mueller Indictment was issued. This was related to Russian interference in our election and the indictment of twelve Russians. Overlooked in the whole affair was the crucial fact that no U.S. citizen or member of the Trump campaign was found to have been involved in any collusion. It also showed that the Steele dossier was inherently false.

That same day, Rosenstein made some comments at a press conference on the matter:

“There’s no allegation that any American was knowingly involved in the conspiracy.

“Nor was there an allegation that the efforts of the defendants affected the outcome of the election.”...
