Friday Night Photos - Summer Draws To A Close edition

It seems to have gone very fast. Next week, Bollox Minor is off to university.... and Fred is off to kittygarten.

A couple of shots from the recent pilgrimage to England, and then one from the Colorado trip:

As always, do your worst. Off for tea.

I like the architecture in the first shot.

The close of summer included a visit from my oldest daughter and granddaughters.

It's Westminster Abbey. I wanted to show Bollox Minor something. What with getting ready for university, I'm not sure I could cope with grandchildren just yet.

That would explain why the architecture has a churchy kind of look about it.

The younger one is still at the age when childhood things are still fun. The merry go round brings back fond memories.

Caitlin is the younger of the two. She's 10 and her sister Meghan is 14. Even though she is older, Meghan still has lots of moments enjoying childhood things while phasing into her teenage years.

The Pillars of the Earth by Follet fictionalized about how the churches like Westminster Abbey were built. Rumors are that he was writing about WMA.

I have been waiting all summer to take this shot. The water comes from a sprinkler and the sun had to be at the right spot.

Great pix BR. A lovely looking fam SP. BR, the bird is closest to a Heron or Crane. In general the large 'bustle' (not the one in the hedgerow) at posterior is more crane like. They are often well-bustled. It is an artsy happy medium, not matching either with great precision.

Some pics:
First up, an Anole, aka American Chameleon. This is how they learn their plants. They can turn from green to brown, and even black, remarkably fast.

Here are some smoky sun photos from last weekend:

The sun completely vanished a couple of minutes after I took these. This is looking north-west over our west pasture. The smoke has dissipated here finally and we've had a nice breeze the last couple of days. I used a couple of different settings for these photos; the first one was low-key, and the second was sunset mode, I believe.

SP, what were they photographing in your fourth photo?

dystopian, anoles are so cute. We had them in terrariums in my 4th grade class and we got to hold them and stuff. They are all over the place in New Orleans, but too quick to catch!

Yesterday the mountains that are 10 minutes from my house were 50% occluded by smoke. I had problems breathing last night and when I got home I smelled like smoke. Fortunately it rained today and the smoke has cleared out, but it rained on Wednesday and then the smoke was worse than ever since this started. We were getting the smoke from the Oregon and Washington fires . The smoke from all the fires in the west are affecting the whole country. Then add in fires in other states and there you have it. This is supposed to be the new normal. The USA is burning while its leaders fiddle.

@magiamma many creative junkers assemble wacky montages in this neck of the woods as well. Mostly just for show. Using skills of welding, pipe fitting, painting, carpentry and .. to convert the throw aways from our passing machine age into representational (sometimes functional) art. Mind maps.

you for tonight's OT, BR.

Bit bummed out this evening. It's a sad day for us, because August 24 is 'the B's' birthday, or what we considered his birthday--the date that we adopted him 11 years ago. Of course, we never saw his breed registration, since he came from a local shelter. All we know is that he was a young adolescent, up to perhaps a mid-age adult. At any rate, we were very blessed to share our lives with him for his last 10-1/2 years.

Thought I'd post a photo of a former (and sadly late) Westminster BIS--a Springer, of course. I plan to post his gorgeous close facial shot, sometime later this fall. This photo is a screenshot of him at a interview with Charlie Rose, I think the day after he won the title. He was a therapy dog, before and after, becoming a champion. Here you go,

Multi. BIS BISS Ch. Felicity's Diamond Jim, Call Name--James

James - At Knee.JPG

I know I'm not very impartial, but I do think that Springers are one very handsome breed. Wink They are smart and trainable; but, more importantly, they are just flat-out sweet.

We're going to be taking care of matters for Mr M, and then taking a short trip, since we celebrate our Anniversary the first week of September. Yahoo

you liked James' photo. Maybe I'll try to figure out how to take a decent smart phone photo, since my newest phone has a better camera (12 MP). I know so little about camera settings, I've never attempted to adjust the lighting, etc., on the rare occasion that I take a shot--and the photos show it!

I agree that there is something special about springers. I remember when James won because when his trainer was being interviewed he jumped up on her.

Again my condolences for the 'B'. I know how much you are missing him today.

photos of your Springers and Speagles (that's a new one on me, but it makes sense), including their backstories, SD. They are/were all cuties. Believe me, I've appreciated your very kind support and empathy, going back to when 'the B's' health first started to fail--gall bladder surgery, thyroid deficiency, and spondylosis. Give rose

Mr M and I are considering adding a new family member (soon), maybe by Christmas. You Guys will be among the first to know when/if we do. Pleasantry We're already considering names, male and female. Of course, we can't make a final decision on something like that, until we see the pup and/or observe his/her personality.
