Hideouser© and Hideouser© fukkery waged against Julian Assange

Only three days after a ‘Big Win For Julian Assange’, see snoopydawg, July 14, caucus99percent.com:

“The Inter-American Court of Human Rights based in Costa Rica has ruled that the British government has to let Assange leave the Ecuadorian embassy without harassment or threat of arrest and let him go to Ecuador where he was granted citizenship."

From thetimes.co.uk July 16 ‘Ecuador in talks to evict Julian Assange, its ‘stone in the shoe’; The South American state and UK ministers are trying to find a way to evict the WikiLeaks founder from its London embassy (h/t wsws with more in a bit)

“Britain is in high-level talks with Ecuador in an attempt to remove Julian Assange from its London embassy, where he has been sheltering for more than six years.

Ministers and senior Foreign Office officials are locked in discussions over the fate of Assange, the founder and editor of WikiLeaks, who claimed political asylum from Ecuador in 2012 and who believes he will be extradited to the United States if he leaves the embassy in Knightsbridge, central London.

Sir Alan Duncan, the Foreign Office minister, is understood to be involved in the diplomatic effort, which comes weeks before a visit to the UK by Lenin Moreno, the new Ecuadorean president, who has called Assange a “hacker”, an “inherited problem” and a “stone in the shoe”.

“Last month two officials from the Australian High Commission paid a first visit in six years to the Ecuadorean embassy in London in a signal that there may be a breakthrough in the stalemate. Assange’s lawyer, Jennifer Robinson, said she could not reveal details about the meeting “given the delicate diplomatic situation”.

She has recently lobbied the United Nations about the “severe” impact the confinement has had on Assange’s physical and mental health and claims he is being denied proper medical attention.

Sources close to Assange believe his right to political asylum cannot be revoked under international law.”

“Sources close to the Australian-born Assange said he was not aware of the talks but believed that America was exerting “significant pressure” on Ecuador, including threatening to block a loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) if the Latin American state did not evict him from the embassy.”

The news comes after 12 Russian spies were charged with hacking the emails of Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) in America during her campaign to become president in 2016.

According to the US Department of Justice, the embarrassing emails were then passed to WikiLeaks, which published them “to heighten their impact” during the electoral race, which was ultimately won by Donald Trump.”

From Oscar Grenfell, wsws.org, 16 July 2018: ‘British and Ecuadorian authorities in talks to evict Julian Assange from London embassy’

“The report is the latest public indication of a conspiracy, involving the British, US and Ecuadorian governments, to terminate Assange’s political asylum, in violation of international law, and force him into UK custody. The major powers are determined to prosecute the WikiLeaks editor for his organisation’s role in exposing US-led war crimes and diplomatic intrigues around the world.

Since then, however, Assange has fallen out with the new Moreno administration, which has cut off his internet access, installed jammers and banned visitors to the embassy apart from his lawyers.”

“The Ecuadorian government has repeatedly bowed to the demands of the major powers. In March, it cut-off Assange’s internet access and his right to receive visitors, aside from occasional legal briefings, in an attempt to create conditions so intolerable that he will voluntarily leave the embassy. According to WikiLeaks associates, Ecuador has developed a “hostile climate” for Assange within the building, including by instructing embassy staff not to approach or speak to him.

“The Ecuadorian authorities are well aware that if they renege on Assange’s asylum and force him out of the embassy, he will be arrested by British authorities on trumped-up bail charges stemming from his asylum-bid in 2012.”

“Geoffrey Robertson, a prominent legal authority and advisor to WikiLeaks, warned last week that the preparations by the Trump administration to prosecute Assange on espionage charges involved the creation of a “new legal theory” that would curtail the free speech protections of the US Constitution’s First Amendment, by arguing that they did not extend to foreign journalists. He said that the defence of Assange was “moving up to be a major free press issue.”

The attacks on Assange are one of the sharpest expressions of a turn to authoritarianism by governments around the world. Well aware that their program of militarism, war and austerity is opposed by the vast majority of the population, the ruling class is turning to the censorship of the internet, in an attempt to prevent workers and young people from accessing any alternative to the corporate and state-aligned media.”

In workplaces, factories, neighbourhoods and on university campuses, preparations must be made for mass political action, including protests, demonstrations, and strikes, if Assange is expelled from the Ecuadorian embassy and faces extradition to the US.”

really, then imagine what terror he may be feeling. and yet, i can't help but do so. if the embassy staff isn't even allowed to talk with him, i'd imagine that his psycho-spiritual health must severely compromised by now, as is his physical health, of course. but no safe passage to hospital for traitors™!

i hope he at least has music and books and that his cat is still alive.

You'd think this would be a big story. But then I remember Guantanamo. Same story, but the only difference is the US has to torture the guy second hand.

Frankly, I will be surprised if this doesn't end in Assange's "Unfortunately decided to take his own life, refusing to take responsibility for his crimes..." because that's the kind of crap the people in government do, and sleep very well that night.

is over the top (assuming you meant that), but it's certainly possible at this point. beats me why, but i've checked the twitter accounts for jen robinson, john pilger, geoffrey robinson, nothing on this fukkked new development.

not even the wikileaks account has it. there've been a few of those 'twitter vigils' for assange' but i can't think they serve any practical purpose at all, myself.

@detroitmechworks I get what you're saying about a faked suicide. But if I were him, I'd have the means to a real suicide on hand always. A quick real suicide. And I would have had those means close by since I first began Wikileaks.

He has dreadful enemies.

We see the pressure bringing brought to bear on Ecuador to evict him from the embassy. This country has been pissed at Assange even before he released the Collateral Murder video, but that probably caused steam to come out of Cheney's ears. Showing how the soldiers got excited to kill people whose country we invaded. Then Assange posted Hillary's emails that showed how she rigged the primary and got the media to pay attention to Trump and ignore the republicans running against him because Her was afraid that she couldn't beat them.

From the wsws article we see that Pence wants to bring Ecuador into the war criminal club.

Last month, US Vice President Mike Pence travelled to Ecuador as part of a broader regional tour aimed at shoring up Washington’s faltering dominance in Latin America. The talks publicly centred on drawing Ecuador into the US economic and military campaign against Venezuela.

.

Have we been told why it's imperative that we have to use economic and military force against Venezuela? Are there hidden WMDs somewhere that it will take the military to find? Or is Trump just going to be honest with us and tell us that Venezuela has oil and we want to take it from them?

The democrats sure stayed silent when Obama charged whistleblowers under the espionage act instead of protecting them as he promised during his campaign so this isn't surprising.

On the eve of Pence’s departure, 10 prominent Democratic Party senators issued an open letter calling on the vice president to demand that Moreno oust Assange. This brazen call for the state persecution of a political refugee was an indication of a feverish campaign in US ruling circles to force Assange into their clutches.

Have any of the "main stream journalists said anything about what is happening with Assange and how his arrest would have huge repercussions on journalists everywhere? They might not feel that they have to worry about that because they no longer have journalistic integrity because they just parrot the things they are told to say.

Geoffrey Robertson, a prominent legal authority and advisor to WikiLeaks, warned last week that the preparations by the Trump administration to prosecute Assange on espionage charges involved the creation of a “new legal theory” that would curtail the free speech protections of the US Constitution’s First Amendment, by arguing that they did not extend to foreign journalists. He said that the defence of Assange was “moving up to be a major free press issue.”

Well aware that their program of militarism, war and austerity is opposed by the vast majority of the population, the ruling class is turning to the censorship of the internet, in an attempt to prevent workers and young people from accessing any alternative to the corporate and state-aligned media.

Decades and centuries-long legal protections and democratic rights are being shredded, as governments prepare for police-state repression of mass social struggles against the drive to war, and the onslaught on the social rights of the working class. This makes clear that the defence of Assange is a critical issue for all supporters of democratic rights.

K9 disc said that he wouldn't be surprised if martial law was declared soon. I agree with him. authoritarianism/fascism seems to be rising everywhere. They don't want Wikileaks warning us about the shit that's being shoveled close to the fan.

I saw a Vice episode last night on teevee talking about a right-wing fascist Hindu organization taking over India (murdering people for stealing sacred cows or simply dissing Hindu religion). They made comparisons to other western countries transforming to fascism including Trump's "MAGA" in the US. There is definitely a wave of fascism moving across the planet. Scary shit.

they get paid for partisan political stories and conspiracies. assange has been hit hard over the past year: several diatribes from the guardian, the daily beast, the atlantic, and thrice by Pierre’s fearless investigative journalists’ at the intercept. yeah, some ‘new’ snowden document notes that assange has been on a hit list...why withhold that one, ed?

ach, i’d thought id covered all the pence visit, 10 senators letters, etc. on my last assange coverage, but it does bear repeating. yes, the slow putsch against VZ is about rexxon’s oil (and other mineral wealth), but also there is a legal challenge involving a major off-shore oil field that guyana is claiming, and in which reXXon has already begun drilling. both obomba and trump have declared VZ a ‘major threat to amerikan security’, but that’s about the pink tide reversal afoot, as well. and the sanctions, of course, really are making it hard for maduro to make sure people are fed, can buy medicines, etc. but the MSM is mind-bogglingly into: ‘the hideous lives under diktator maduro’, etc. but really, that’s a whole ‘nother subject, except to say that the ruling class hates that he won his last election, most western puppet nations won’t recognize it, and wikileaks had also shown how much money and how many CIA were involved in the putsches against hugo chavez, as well. william blum (of the anti-empire report) says he knows, but can’t prove...that chavez was assassinated.

but Wikileaks Biggest Sin recently, of course, of course was releasing CIA vaults 7 and 8, esp. marble, which even putin is conversant with: how to obfuscate the origins of emails, etc. that is partially what caused Pompeo to call for his head.

well, i'm gonna go update my last thread w/ some of the most surreal and almost unbelievable reactions to the summit in helsinki.

i don't even have the energy to answer comments on my last iary, or most especially, to rebut any comments...whatever it was about.

but as for a song/lullaby for julian, i got to thinking about the ubiquitous photos of him long, long ago, dancing alone in some sort of commons room in the embassy, arms akimbo...as *proof* he was a pedophile. some were named 'disco-assange', but given that he's a truth-teller to his peril, i'd thought of a similar hero in the indigenous realm, AIM john trudell, whose family was burned alive for his sins. given that, i'd thought of his 'rich man's war' cuz oh, my, would he have loved julian!

in the end. i can't decide between these two covers by plying for change. 'world peace thru music'.

but both of these fit well. bless you, julian; we're pullin' for you, bro'. it's impossible to know what your nightmares and dreams might be now, to the extent that you can sleep, of course.

and thanks again to wsws authors who have been dogged in his defense. i'l click into the times now and again to see if there are updates, but i reckon few know if he's even alive, dave his attorneys, and as i said: no news from them i could find.
