Help me find this song ... please ?

Do you remember the songs by Buffy Sainte-Marie?

I constantly think about a song she performed during the times when people on TOP wrote about the Cowboy and Indian alliance in relation to their protest of the Keystone XL pipeline, may be in 2014.

She herself asks today:
Buffy Sainte-Marie: 'I constantly ask myself. Where are the great protest songs of today? Are people deaf and blind?'

May be I can promote her new album "Medicine Songs" which will be out January 26th here too?

The song I am looking for was performed and I think it was a special lyric version of the
No No Keshagesh song.
But as far as I remember, she said in the lyrics something like "No more sugar daddies" or something like that. I think it was during the time people talked about the "Cowboys and Indians" alliance movement, CIA..

All my old files, one of which might have been a bookmark on a computer that crashed, are inaccessible to me. So, I am really a bit miffed, that I can't find what I am looking for.

The reason why I want to find that version of the song is, because of the word "sugar" and I believe "daddy" in it. My mind constantly wants to reverse these words in that song version to "sugar" and "mommies".

Because I think we don't need any more sugar mommies. Sigh. If you know what I mean. And yes, my memory is fading. No fun.

@randtntx
from 2008.
Buffy Sainte-Marie:No No Keshagesh Lyrics

I think I just didn't understand the lyrics right, but content wise it talks about "suits" with money making dirty deals... Smile

I never saw so many business suits
I never knew a dollar sign could look so cute
I never knew a junkie with a money jones
He's saying, "Who's selling Park Place? Who's buying Boardwalk?"

These old men they make their dirty deals
Go in the back room and see what they can steal
Talk about your beautiful and spacious skies
It's about uranium, it's about the water rights

Put mother nature on a luncheon plate
They cut her up and call it real estate
Want all the resources and all of the land
They make a war over it, blow things up for it

The reservation now the poverty row
There's something cooking, and the lights are low
Somebody's is trying to save our mother earth
...

Thank You, I think it's my bad memory and my difficulties to get the lyrics right back then, when I didn't try to find the lyrics yet.

Don't waste your time trying to help me.

I looked up what I once have saved I liked and saw I saved this song. I still like it. My thank you gift to you for being kind.

Now, if I knew back then how much it would be necessary to "holding back these years" ... keeping "holding on" ... sigh.

Thanks, you are a very kind soul.

@mimi You're welcome. I wasn't much help though but I see that others gave us some good ways to search for lyrics. You gave us a fun puzzle to solve with the added bonus of reminding me to listen to some Buffy Sainte-Marie. You also introduced me to her new work, which I appreciate. So thank you! I loved your question by the way.

is here: http://lyrics.wikia.com/wiki/Buffy_Sainte-Marie

duck duck go returns six hits on this: "sugar daddy site:http://lyrics.wikia.com/wiki/Buffy_Sainte-Marie", each with one word or other, but not both so I don't know. Maybe some different search word will return the missing song, or just browsing through the pile will help. I am always looking up songs that fall out of the lint trap in my brain, thanks goodness for wikia. cheers

@eyo
songs all over. I answered to Randtxtn what I believe the song was I remembered. It's no big deal, if I don't find it. Probably just my mess of a life that mixes all up.

In any case, she is and was a great singer. May be she will make a song one day about the "empty panty suits" of these "old women" making backroom deals and stealing what they can.

Let's just forget it. I am a hopeless case. My personal archives are a mess, destroyed or not existing. It is what it is.

I admired her work and the way she looked: a beautiful full-blooded Native American woman with long raven-black hair. I wanted to look just like her. A suggestion? PM @MarkfromQueens. He's a professional music man with an extensive music library. He knows the Protest Era like the back of his hand. If he doesn't have the time to find it, he will tell you what to do. Plus, he knows you're a fellow c99er. Smile I don't own any of her music so I wouldn't recall the tune. Good luck, mimi. Rec'd!!

I believe he is a true sugar daddy... Smile
I would never ask him a stupid question, which I can't even formulate properly. I just had some foggy thoughts about this song. For reasons that are not important.

Let's close this.

@mimi be stupid. In fact, I've gone to both him and NCTim with music questions. He's busy with a new baby and family stuff. I hope when things settle down, he'll start his Open Thread again.

I hope you can watch this video. This is one of my fond memories of Ms. Sainte-Marie.

is to search for "lyrics " plus whatever scraps I can find. That usually shows me the song I'm looking for in the first dozen results. That gives me the song title and one or more artists who have covered it. Then off to YouTube for artist name and song title. Doesn't work for instrumentals, though.

I never considered there would be these kinds of tools on the net.
I've been looking for a long and rambling song by Arlo Guthrie in his traditional "Alice's Restaurant" style. It had the word "lawnmower" in it.
So I'm off to see the wikia.com wizard. And then Mark from Queens maybe.
Thanks to all of you for showing the way.
