I can certify the use of valid methodology and comprehensive analytical techniques in this analysis. The conclusion was reached after much thought and serious consideration of all options.
social programs that so many people are relying on, such as the LIHEAP that helps poor people pay for their utilities during the winter, food stamps and especially the programs that help people get affordable public housing.
Any cuts to those programs will see people dying because they will have to choose between paying for their medications or heating and eating.
The congress members who think that the food stamps program is helping people to buy expensive food probably spend as much money for one of their meals that we get for a month.
I ran out of mine yesterday and hope that I have enough food that will last until next week.
I'd love for those people who think that way too much money for food to live on my budget for two months and see how hard it is. And too live in my body and then tell me that I have it easy because I don't work.
@snoopydawg@snoopydawg
I have started watching CPAN in the morning and that was part of the discussion this morning. Nearly every person who called in as a "Republican" said that "entitlements" needed to reformed/cut back. They are also coming for our 401(k)s.

O.k. When is the next meeting for the revolution?

I won't need to watch the entire 3 hours, was it the two budget dudes who brought this up this issue, Greta reading an article, or a caller?
This could easily pass, since a version of this cut was included in Obama's budgets, and FSC ran on this in 2016. (Targeting higher income folks, IIRC.)

from callers, than from the propagandists guests that they have on Washington Journal. Seriously, we watch various C-Span programs on a regular basis (although we often try to independently verify what the so-called experts have to say).
Appreciate that you've saved me some Wi-Fi megabytes, and time, by pinpointing the conversation.

@WIProgressive
social programs just need to get a better job or a job period has some type of event that requires them to rely on the programs. Even
I would much rather be doing the job I loved and taught myself how to do then need to rely on SSDI, food stamps and the LIHEAP that helps with electricity and gas bills in the winter.
As gulfgal pointed out, SNAP doesn't cover non food items and we can thank the congress for that.
And now many governors want control over the program so they can tell people what they can and can't buy with them.
The Obama administration told them to go pound sand, but does anyone think Donald will do the same thing?
And I bet that everyone of those callers don't have a problem with corporate welfare. I read this today on my local news website and people think that cutting taxes for the corporations is okay because they create jobs, and it's okay to cut them for the rich because that will encourage people to get a better job so they can make more money and then they won't have to pay taxes either.
Seriously, this is what people think.

puts a huge strain upon local charitable organizations like food banks. A lot of people mistakenly believe that food banks serve only the homeless and therefore will not support them. Food banks provide fresh, packaged, and canned goods, as well as clothing, toiletries, school supplies (which are not covered by SNAP) to low income individuals and families that are not served by other programs.
While the poverty rate in my county is 12.6%, slightly below the national average, the largest local food bank which is run by a consortium of local churches spanning a wide range of faiths here said they served nearly double that number of people last year. Many of the families served have at least one member who is working but their income is too low to sustain their families.

Not just for military families for any families in this country. BTW, from what I have read the percentage of military families on SNAP is 25%!

Especially the military families who are on it.
And another issue no one talks about is the number of homeless veterans. Most of them are from the Vietnam war where they saw or committed heinous acts of war crimes on the civilians and especially the women.
I had a neighbor who was messed up in his head and drank a lot. He wouldn't tell me what he had done during his time in Vietnam but he was very remorseful. He kept saying that he had done some very bad things. I then read stories about what happened to Vietnamese women and children.

Guerrilla Liberalism won't liberate the US or the world from the iron fist of capital.
@The Aspie Corner
how that works. He said that 21,000 people became millionaires during WWI? And we know that Halliburton and other contractors made big bucks from their no bid contracts.
What people don't know is that after a company gets the contract they then subcontract it out to another company who also sub contracts it out and they pay their workers piddly wages while the first contractors make all the profits.
Ain't that a sweet gig?
