@Umairh has been on a relentless crusade with his essays lately.

This one published yesterday is no exception.

He likes to characterize Neo-Liberalism as a particularly American abomination. Given post WW2 history that's probably valid as we called the shots.

Both neoliberalism and trickle down economics are precisely the same in one crucial respect. They ask people to wait for a life-changing payoff that will arrive one day. For trickle down, it’s benefits from the rich. For neoliberalism, it’s benefits from global trade.

But tomorrow never came. The benefits of global trade went, more than 100%, to the super rich. Their transformation from just rich to super rich had less than no benefits for the average person, only costs: at the very same time, the middle class imploded, and life expectancy fell.

A good read as is usual

It is always good to see anything by Rufus Thomas. Smile

I have been busier than a one armed paperhanger getting ready for Easter dinner.

Big news today is that I walked 4.4 miles for the first time since I got the flu four weeks ago. This is the longest any bug has ever had me down. I did not get the flu shot, but found out that three of my neighbors did and they still got the same strain I did. Apparently the folks who develop these vaccines guessed wrong on which flu virus would hit our area.
